Hey Troy. For the side molding i see you used regular clips in conjunction with the “bath tub” clips where you can’t reach the backside. Three questions.
    1) are the bath tub clips used reproduction ?
    2) did you use a special tool to install the bath tub clips ?
    3) how do you remove the bath tub clips when preparing to paint the car ?
    Thank you so much.

The bathtub clips I used were originals and to take them out. I just use a hook tool and they’ll pop out those clips have like little nubs on them and hold to the sheet metal.

As someone who restored these cars in the past. I was trained to put plumbers putty on the car in small thin beads. This was a way to waterproof the molding so the car would not rust out around the moldings. Fills the gap wiped excess putty off with clean rag. The factories did this as well. Lasted 5 years usually before needing a touch up reapplication. Sorry you did not know this

Thank you yes I did not know that. I know that I have seen it around the windshield and stuff, but that’s awesome to know. I will definitely be using that in the future.

This takes a lot of time, most shops will not do it or forget. Also you should always use original clips. They are solid and do not have gaps that can let moisture or humidity into areas that can start rust the door molding application of clips is not going to hold well. I have used and installed the clips that GM made for this car. They are easy to put on. Just powder coat them first. The gaps created between holes and screw type modern clips are risky over time. But I understand that it's hard to find good originals. In the 80s I managed to save and or get new ones.

Excellent video. I have a 59 Impala and never knew how these clips are put together. Would love to see a video on how to adjust the doors on these.

Beautiful job! Love the color. You make putting on trim so easy. There is indeed a trick to it. Keep up the great work!

This guy did what he did in 31 Min's! The shop that had my 59 charged me 15 hours to put the outside molding on! This is a perfect example that a body shop can tell you anything on the hours! This guy look's honest! Pretty Ride! 👍🏽

Verry, verry cool. Myself I would apply Painters Tape around the molding holes just as a scratch precaution or have someone hold the moldings during alignment. That is one paint job I would not scratch.

Wow I was just wondering if the corner fin moldings need a connector like the front halves, this answers my question for when I need to reinstall the chrome on my el Camino. Could you make a video on how the front clip goes together with the fender extensions, filler panels, inner fender, grille, etc
