I just bought one of these before I saw your video - compared it to so many guitars in Australia under $1k and it spoke to me. Seeing your video after the fact gave me so much joy and trust in my process. I can't wait to get good enough to illicit all the tones and sounds this guitar is capable of. Thanks for the review and the demo!
Dont know if anyone cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all of the new movies on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my girlfriend lately xD
Really great demo sir ,very inspiring in fact .I think you just convinced me to buy a used one I've been walking the floor over. I had come upon one of the late 70's versions selling at $1800 CDN ,one of those old bolt on necks ,I just loved the neck in particular which is primarily the reason for my interest in this brand but I can see the new versions are quite nice as well .Thank you for your time .
I enjoy the way you make all the points about the unique construction and conception of this sweet guitar. I have owned my original black Super Swede from Sweden made in the last year of the 1st production run that ended in 1983 since I got it used in 1988. It is my go to guitar for all my home studio recordings, far more versatile and with wonderful action on the amazing thin neck. I have never had to adjust the neck due to that patented H shape truss rod design. It has amazing tones and has the same set of double pick up switch choices to create all the different useful tones. To assist the sustain it also features a zero fret so the strings never touches the nut. I've recently found a used Ultra Swede which is much lighter and just as well crafted as the original Swede, with the added bonus of being quite a lot lighter, with the Resinator composite wood neck face and gorgeous marbled abalone inlays and binding that is even made from vegan-sourced material. Innovative beyond most other guitar makers on this planet. Another Robby who loves Hagstrom guitars!
Great Demo, I have this same exact Hagstrom Gold Top that I bought 11 years ago. Although I am more of fan of Fender guitars, I love the smaller neck and the many tones you can get out of this guitar. I originally bought this to be more a Les Paul style guitar, but find the blues / jazzy tones were much more interesting to me. Yes, sustain for days as well, Cheers !!
Those pickups sounded very good no need to replaced them and second selector filter switch makes the tone even more versatile, that bridge pickup is not too harsh sounding either.
I had a Hagstrom ES=335 shape guitar and I do believe it had a Bigsby trem on it. The guitar had a beautiful tone to it. The only thing I didn't like about the guitar was, when I would play out live on it, it vibrate]d so much, from playing it, it felt like it was going to fly apart in my hands and caused my attack to suffer, So before I would start "bad habits in playing I sold it That kind of scared me, seeing how I was making a living from my shows. I sold it...it all worked out in the end.. I dont really remember the 80's all that much...Hahahaha Not kidding though.....I have had a few of these guitars......GREAT TONE!! Wish I still had it now..... I just sibscribed. I have watched a few and you are spot on! Good job mate!
I have many recordings of this guitar from the mid 70's while 'on the road'. All styles including jazz, country, rock, funk ... etc. This was my favorite guitar of all time. It covered everything. The only problem, it was heavy. I dumped my 2 LP, including a late 50's, prefer the Swede.
I don't own and have never played one but there's another youtube video and they show a neck profile. it's very thin. the other video showed it is about as thick as a thumb knuckle. I think it is one of the smaller necks on the market.
My first guitar was a Kay. Once I out grew it knowledge wise, I bought a Hagstrom. The neck is rediculoisly thin and very, very easy to play and the sound was awesome back then. 1970's. It expanded my playing because of the ease of making cords that stretch your fingerson another guitar. I currently have a Gibson SG.1972. A graduation present. I think I'm going to buy another Hagstrom. Still on the fence which model. The gold top is running in the top 3 I'm thinking about. All I can say is, the guitar should be the way all guitars are designed. Honestly, the best guitar I've ever played...bar none.
Robbie GI. This is one beautiful guitar amazing sounding . For a affordable price 🎸 I'm thinking about buying one awesome 🎸 . Lol TroyFrost / Troyster 😎 CoolRiffs 😎 Cool 🤘 🤘🤘🎸
None of them were ever made in the USA, yesterday or today. The originals were made in Sweden... The high end edition of the reissues were made first in Czechoslovakia, and now they have returned in a limited capacity to Sweden.
I've wanted to add a nice Swede to my guitar quiver for years.....but I can't look at the fuggly tailpiece. Sheesh, with all the elegant design of that guitar.....the tailpiece just doesn't complement the lines of the instrument.

I bought a Swede Gold Top almost 13 years ago at the local guitar shop. I love the blues and jazz vibe on it.

I Just bought this Guitar and It Is Amazing. Only Thing that bothers me is the nut, has anyone ever replaced it for a better one?
Put a TUSQ XL in it and some TUSQ saddles, then see the tone sustain!
Guys it *is* a Graphtech TUSQ nut already in there. 🤣🤣
@@TheMrturn1 For that price;?!?!? Scandinavians make the best stuff for sure.
Bravo 👏 Robbie
Nice one Robbie.
Which hair-dye do you use?
How thin is the neck? I take its D shaped?

APHASIA K hagstrom is a Swedish brand but they’re currently been build in China factories
somewhere in Asia. It is not a USA guitar. Originally, the older ones where made in Sweden. Now, just Swedish in name but made in Asia
