I will never judge a teacher for going in to set up their room early. I am extremely jealous of the teachers that get to go in early to set up. I am not allowed back into the building until contract days begin, though I am going to be begging and pleading to be able to go in during the 3 days that new staff report back because I am moving classrooms and the teacher before me left a lot of stuff behind and I need time to sort through stuff and get the new room set up.
How on earth do you have time to do everything!?!?!
I agree! Lighting IS essential!! It makes a whole room. Also, yes, the overhead lighting is awful at times.

This is my first year teaching after graduating college, and I spend this entire week to start my classroom set up. I still got a lot of things to do, but I can say for sure it came together!
I'm going in and working on my room a few times a week over summer as well. I get it.
No judgement here. As an experienced (aka "old") teacher, I know the value of setting up early. Teacher in service is full of meetings and paperwork. I love getting my classroom set up early. Less stress and puts me in the right mind set. Love your videos!!

I moved my room last year. My favorite part (besides being DONE) was organizing cupboards. Right now all of my math materials are in one section of the room. That wasn’t the case in my old room, ha ha.

A male teacher!!!! Yay! No offense ladies, but there aren’t many of us in the elementary setting(I’m the only one in my school). I have taught all grades levels except 5th and will have an adventure this year with kindergarten. I love the younger kids except when I say turn to page 106 and we teach them to count to 50 by mid year. Lol. Anyway, keep the videos coming. Love your style and personality. Woot woot!!!

Command adhesive actually holds pretty well on cinder block; I used Command strips pretty much exclusively in my classroom, and I really didn't have much of an issue with things falling down!
Hey there!! I def recommend getting magnetic hooks for the glass lights :) I had those in my classroom last year. In the beginning, I hung them with command hooks...one fell....and then it was a chain reaction and SCARY!!!! Once I bought magnetic hooks, it was a game-changer. They are on amazon and, the lining between tiles is magnetic ;)

Hey Kyle - Just a thought - but I would hang the bulb lights from the ceiling - looping them through the metal. You can be sure they won't fall that way.
Love this idea, but it actually goes against our fire code! Can’t have anything hanging in or from the ceiling🙃

Wow I am now thinking about how my 4th grade year all I remember is dark rooms because my teachers in 4th grade always showed us videos with the projectors

The book Officer Buckle and Gloria has a part about not standing on a roller chair. Does the SmartBoard still work? Those are almost 20 years old. What do I like about setting up a classroom? I actually like putting pencils and crayons on the desks because that is the last thing that I do. I hope that your summer is treating you well. Thank you for your presentation.

In the past I have used painter's tape before using the glue gun on this type of wall. That way when you're cleaning up at the EOY the paint won't come off. 😬

So I have been watching lots of classroom set up videos lately and I realize that they are all women doing it so I searched up if there were any men doing it and I’m so happy to see that you’re doing it because I haven’t seen a lot of men doing classroom set up
My teachers had to set things up so they only got 2 weeks of rest thrn the rest if the summer they had to move all the things from our temporary building to our actual building
