Some of our family and friends knew that we were pregnant, but not with TWINS!!! I love their reactions. After having a miscarriage 3 months before, this was such a blessing.

Identical twins have nothing to do with genetics, they are completely random. Fraternal twins are the ones that are genetic

And it only matter with the woman's side of the family with faternal twins because she either releases several eggs or one. So many people don't understand the way twins come about and I'm glad you shared your knowledge!

I've always wondered how some people have a higher chance at having twins. I was told it depends on the mothers family history and how many eggs you release.

I'm the tenth generation followed by identical twins in the family. Totaly random, yea yea... Me. My mother. My grandmother. My great-grandfather. And so on. All identical twins.

My maternal grandmother had a younger twin brother and sister. Sadly, neither survived very long after their birth. However, none of her children had twins. One cousin has fraternal twin grandsons but their twinning could have come from their mother's side. My wife often said that if our elder son had been twins, there wouldn't have been anymore. He was a handful all by himself. Now that he is grown, I wish that he had been twins because he is such an awesome man and father.
