Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are seriously some of the top movie couple chemistry winners EVER. They literally just jump off of the screen and it feels so organic
I think a big factor in why so many people love this movie (besides how awesome Andrew's Spiderman is) is that Gwen actually matters to the story from the beginning, as in she's not just the love interest and damsel in distress. She's just as stubborn as Peter is and she gets shit done. He tells her about him being Spiderman pretty fast and she immediately puts her skills to use in order to help him save the city. She makes her own choices when he tells her to stay away and chooses to risk her own life to save others. The story is obviously mainly about Peter, but she's a girlboss.
Yesssss that's the reason i hated Mary Jane in Maguire's movies, they just used her for constant drama and on-and-off relationship, while Gwen is amazing by herself (which can also be said about Zendaya's MJ!)
Idk Kristen Stuart MJ felt like a real person had lots of normal people struggles apart from her Spider-Man caused troubles and Toby seemed like the most nerdy and socially awkward of the Spider-Men. Even though I love Emma Stone Gwen she feels more like a character and well Zendayas MJ just seem like the stereotypical antisocial “cool” girl character. Also Andrew and Tom, especially Andrew, are too cool to be believable nerdy outcasts.
Yeah I never quite understood the AMOUNT of criticism it got for changing some of the qualities that typically Peter has compared to Garfiled's look. He's a great actor and Emma Stone is a terrific scene partner for him. And Sally Field? C'mon now. The only real gripe I have with this version is the idea that Spider Man can ONLY be Peter Parker and it is genetically coded to pair with him and no one else. Spider Man was supposed to be a hero that any person can admire and any young person can look up to and want to be.
I think the general problem people have with this movie is that while it’s not a bad movie it’s not a good Spider-Man story. While Andrew Garfield is a great actor and gives a great performance he doesn’t seem like the same character we love from the comics
Its because a lot of the films that have subsequently come out have gotten far worse, people are finally appreciating the fact that those films weren’t as bad as they might get
people appreciate it more now because it no longer has any bearing on the canon or market perception of the character. At the time people were mad because they didnt like the direction or portrayal. Its alot easier to appreciate something that doesnt affect anything anymore.
Andrew Garfield improv’d the “small knives” scene!!! You can tell he just had so much fun in this role which is why I think so many people love his spider-man.
Nah, I remember when these movies came out so many people hated his Spider-Man even though I personally loved his portrayal and felt it was more accurate to the comics.
@@shyranhilaw4352yeah that’s because the public was from Tobeys Spider-Man meaning they didn’t like how another guy portrayed spider man other than Tobey. So they were only hating on Tasm just because they couldn’t picture or allow another person playing spidey.
Andrew is absolutely the best spider-man, he physically moves like a spider which others did not do. He is so creative with his webs and swinging, and the suit is the best imo. Everyone trashed these movies until No Way Home gave Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker the redemption he deserved. Suddenly, when you put him in the same room as the other two celebrated Spider-Mans, everyone could see how talented he was as an actor and how impactful his story was. The three of them complimented each other so well, with Toby McGuire being the logical and experienced older brother, Tom Holland being the optimistic and untested younger brother, and Andrew Garfield being the slightly chaotic but masking his trauma middle child. SO. GOOD.
Exactly I always liked the Garfield films, and loved the Toby Maguire films and have seen those all at least 100 times each so I’m a massive Spiderman fan, but I’ve never liked the Tom Holland spiderman movies

Okay I want to clarify stuff that Dylan was confused about! Gwen is a SENIOR at midtown high and she’s just the head of the interns. When she said she has “been bitten too” she’s meaning by a love bug. The guy didn’t just steal a 6 pack of beer he took the entire register too! Love your videos! This movie is one of my favorites!
dylan unintentionally mentioning Harry Potter WITHOUT knowing that andrew's spiderman was actually the fanfiction face of Remus Lupin is HILARIOUS to me oh god
I LOVED the fact that you too appreciated the fear-of-little-knives scene. I rewatched that part (14:27) like 4 times cause your laugh made me laugh so much 😂
"Oh, she's a single field? She's not even multiple fields." Why did I laugh so hard at this? 😭 Dylan was having a good time with this commentary. We love to see it.
the scene where the construction cranes lead a path for spiderman to swing to the tower has always been my favorite scene in a spiderman film! idk but it's something about how the good he does in the mask has a positive effect on the people he helps has the people helping in return. i dont see that a lot in the newer spiderman films (ive never seen the tobey maguire ones tho) but i think it really emphasizes the "friendly neighborhood" part to his reputation here :)
I kept yelling at the screen “It’s 2012! Think 2012” the entire beginning. It really was of the era. But Andrew and Emma’s charisma and comedic timing was just lightening in a bottle on top of their chemistry. I hated they didn’t continue the series but I also dreaded what it would be w/o that. No other screen partner could live up to that chemistry at the time.
this movie has only recently climbed up peoples' spidey movie ranks. when it first came out, majority hated it mostly cause they were too attached to tobey's. i've always loved it tho. it has been my favourite rendition of spider-man since the first time i watched it. the most comic accurate spidey out of all. the jokes! the quips! the mannerisms! the romance! i do hope they deliver if they ever make a 3rd movie. garfield is a treasure!
I thought the way the movie set up was still seen as bad though based on video essays I’ve seen online about it (along with the second movie) but the actors did a great job with their roles for sure
It’s my favorite too!! I love how Garfield portrayed Peter, such a chaotic spidey, love him! And he also had the most traumatic events, hit after hit 😭😭 PD. Love your pfp, minnie 🥺
The hate the movies got was so undeserved. Were they perfect movies? Of course not, but the hate it got was so ridiculous. Andrews peter is what made me fall in love with Spider-Man. I’m glad he’s getting more love now
He used to post it on Saturdays so that he could spend Sunday watching football and reading the comments. But even that schedule went out the window.🤦🏾♀️
I personally liked Andrews Spider-Man the best, and Gwen was the best love interest, the only problem is that the rest of the the movie is lacking (In my humble opinion.) And he was the best character in No Way Home, too
Who remembers when this film first came out it got hated on so much & Andrew had his experience ruined due to the hate & Sony, there was suppose to be a third film… so sad it took people so long to appreciate these films. 😢
@@oo4758 Basically Andrew Garfield was invited to a Sony event by the Sony chief himself who had this big speech ready where he planned to announce andrew as the star of spiderman 3 but at the last minute andrew didnt come to the event at all and kind of ignored the Sony dude. So he was terminated from the series. He had just arrived in Rio off a plane and probably just didnt want to attend the event out of exhaustion but it wasnt a good look for him then 😭
This one is my favorite too! I just related to this Peter so much more. He’s not cool, he’s awkward, girls will talk to him, but not date him, he seems chill, but he’s secretly lonely and shy. I must have said “Yup, been there” five time the first time I saw it. I didn’t care about seeing the origin stuff again cause it’s my favorite superhero and I had hopes that the next one will be it’s own thing(not talking about that). Gwen and Peter are the best superhero couple I’ve ever seen, and let’s not forget he’s actually funny here. I used to feel like if we took the cast from the amazing films, put them in simple stories like the Raimi films, use the effects from these films, and these were the first Spidey films, we’d have a perfect Spiderman movie series. That being said, I’m excited for the MCU’s Spidey’s continuing story.
ugh i LOVE andrew’s spiderman. there is such a profound sadness in andrew as a human (he always looks like he’s in a bit of pain, even when he smiles) and it made for an impeccable portrayal. im a fairly new marvel fan but i do think they didn’t give him a third movie bc it got too dark and too real - just my guess. does anyone know why they stopped at 2?
everyone (at the time) hated tasm 2. they thought that the script was awful and that the movie was rushed. a lot of fans were wondering why they were forcing too much villains in the film, mostly bc of management forcing so that they could sell more toys (money talks). aside from the mixed reviews, the movie bombed in box office, and a lot of fans also thought it was too depressing. who would expect (kid or adult) that a superhero movie would let you leave the cinema feeling depressed. all of these plus the sony hack of 2014 ultimately led to the cancellation
The person above already explained why they didn’t continue, but I just wanna add that now that they brought him back in No Way Home, theres a small, tiny chance that they could make a 3rd movie, it kind of opened the long closed door to that possibility. Especially since everyone was praising his performance in No Way Home, and bringing up how good his movies actually were. People are hoping they will make a dark version of his spider mama since he said he stopped pulling his punches after Gwen died. Anyway, it’s just wishful thinking lol
They actually stopped because Peter was getting too old. That's what they do, the Spider-Man character is trapped in a coming of age story. When Tom finally becomes too old, they're going to start over again.
I think Andrew Garfield is the best “Spider-Man.” I feel that while great actors and Spider-Men in their own way both Toby and Tom seem to miss that “friendly neighborhood” part.
i think that all of them are good but i just like Andrew abit more in general as an actor, id say that Tobey is the best one if you compare them to the comics, the Andrew and Tom ones are more "cool" while Tobey is more of a "nobody" and Peter in comics was kind of a nobody in the beginning, but imo the best overall actor is Andrew and then Tom
10:07 this cracked me up so hard 🤣🤣🤣 Dylan explaining for 2 mins that Gwen will hear Uncle Ben saying Peter has her as his screensaver then Uncle Ben saying it directly to her just cracked me up 😂😂😂😂😂 I have tears in my eyes
Yesssss, I love seeing people putting respect to Andrew’s version of Spider-Man. I remember going immediately to theaters to watch it and the second one and him becoming my instant favorite iteration of the webhead. It always makes me so happy to see people finally showing Garfield love.
I have a lot of nostalgic love for Tobey Maguire's spiderman, but Andrew's is the one that feels the MOST like spiderman. I remember playing the video games on playstation when I was a kid where you swing from cranes and fight lizard guys in the sewers, and spiderman had such a quippy attitude. They really portrayed that video game feel in this movie and with Andrew's acting.
I love all the other Spider-man’s dearly but Andrew Garfield will forever remain my favorite Peter Parker he’s such a soft boy and so pure hearted you can’t help but find him endearing as hell
People really will jump on any train that comes along. Everyone jumped on the hate train back then, and then after his great performance in No Way Home, everyone jumped on the praise train and pretended they always loved his movies. They pretend that they were the sole people who stuck by his side all these years and loved his movies all along. It’s actually really funny lmao. But he deserves the praise
@@iamcsxii4043 exactly, and also Gwen’s death was such a beautiful scene (even though it was obviously tragic.) there are some things about the movie I don’t like but overall it’s a great Spider-Man movie
17:53 “I’ve been bitten.” “So have I.” The Love Bug, Dylan. She’s [also] been bitten by the love bug. She’s assuming he’s admitting his feelings. Teenage Romance Tropes 101. 😂😅
Andrew is my favourite Spiderman, so this video made me beyond happy. I know the movie itself isn't great, and they really shove that Sony ownership down your throat, and the Spiderverse movies are genuinely superior, but Andrew really embodied Peter as I remember him from the comics and I am so grateful to him for that. P.S. By 'bitten' I think she means a love bug, that's a very 50's term. It's godawful and I cringe horribly every time I have to endure it. And you made me listen to it TWICE, damn you.
Here are my reasons why TASM is my favorite: The Spider-Man suit is very detailed and unique, I really liked the story, The movie’s Oscorp tower and Spider-Man suit as well as other small things in other scenes had a correlation with hexagons which was a neet detail. I also loved the darker shading and lighting in many night scenes in the movie, and I loved the music in this movie especially the Young Peter theme that is used when he is building his suit and spider technology. Also though some may say it’s cringe, I loved the sort of shy awkward interactions between Peter and Gwen more than in the other Spider-Man movies. Also, compared to TASM2, TASM1 had some incredible details in the Oscorp lab using real equations, the super complex spider web machine in the Oscorp basement, Peter Parker’s nerdy messy room, and the simple clothing and hairstyle choice of Peter and Gwen in TASM, which becomes more fancy and complex as their characters develop in TASM2. Lastly, I loved the filming locations that were chosen for this movie. I was a kid when I saw this so the youth vibes hit very hard.
Same. I understand the Raimi fans’ grievances with the film, as they wanted a fourth film ( so did I), but I also liked how fresh and different it was from Tobey’s iteration. It’s also surprisingly more accurate to Peter’s personality in the comics because Peter was a angsty and selfish even after Uncle Ben’s death, and Peter still had a lot to learn.
I wasn’t born yet when Tobeys came out. My introduction to the world of superheroes was this movie, and now I’m making my own superhero comic. This movie was the start of it all and will always hold a special place in my heart
omg same. this and the ultimate spiderman cartoon series on disney xd are the reason why i love superheroe in the first place. my dad (although a tom fan that grew up with tobey) was the first person to introduce it to me as well and he means a lot to me so this film just means the world to me. i can't wait to see your comic hit the shelves one day!
What I love the most about all the Spider-Man movies is that they adapted Peter's personality to the generation of teenagers of the time, that's why the three of them are so different. I love Toby's because it was the first superhero movie I watched and for a long time, Spider-Man was the only superhero I kind of watched. I love Tom's because Homecoming was the reason I got into Marvel. And I love Andrew's because I was a teenager when those movies came out so I related more to his personality.
andrews amazing spiderman has always been my favorite!! there's such a prfound sadness to them, and the humor works so well - i never understood why people used to hate these movies, i'm gad its changing and andrew is getting his well deserved praise though!!

the scene where the construction cranes lead a path for spiderman to swing to the tower has always been my favorite scene in a spiderman film! idk but it's something about how the good he does in the mask has a positive effect on the people he helps has the people helping in return. i dont see that a lot in the newer spiderman films (ive never seen the tobey maguire ones tho) but i think it really emphasizes the "friendly neighborhood" part to his reputation here :)
it’s def there in the tobey ones
@@cchase1282 oh that's great! i've been meaning to check out that trilogy from all the praise i've heard and the clips and quotes ive seen.
I know. It's so perfectly 2012 that it's kind of ridiculous. haha
I will never not laugh at how heated Dylan's relationship with the Disney plus UI is. 😂
But he got it now, he figured it out! I am so proud right now!
@@tweetybishop370 He's got it... For now... 😂😂

Gwen Stacy: “I’m a senior:”
Dylan: “What is she, a junior?”
this movie has only recently climbed up peoples' spidey movie ranks. when it first came out, majority hated it mostly cause they were too attached to tobey's. i've always loved it tho. it has been my favourite rendition of spider-man since the first time i watched it. the most comic accurate spidey out of all. the jokes! the quips! the mannerisms! the romance! i do hope they deliver if they ever make a 3rd movie. garfield is a treasure!
well he wont get a 3rd movie but hes in venom 3
I thought the way the movie set up was still seen as bad though based on video essays I’ve seen online about it (along with the second movie) but the actors did a great job with their roles for sure
It’s my favorite too!! I love how Garfield portrayed Peter, such a chaotic spidey, love him! And he also had the most traumatic events, hit after hit 😭😭
PD. Love your pfp, minnie 🥺
The hate the movies got was so undeserved. Were they perfect movies? Of course not, but the hate it got was so ridiculous. Andrews peter is what made me fall in love with Spider-Man. I’m glad he’s getting more love now
@@guyhathansaintil5218how would ypu know
At this point I am convinced Dylan calls it „Movie commentary Monday“ and then doesn’t upload on Monday, intentionally.
I’m pretty sure he’s admitted that at some point

I love how we know someone is new when they comment on the update schedule being off lol@@anneonymous9680
He used to post it on Saturdays so that he could spend Sunday watching football and reading the comments. But even that schedule went out the window.🤦🏾♀️
I personally liked Andrews Spider-Man the best, and Gwen was the best love interest, the only problem is that the rest of the the movie is lacking (In my humble opinion.) And he was the best character in No Way Home, too
Gwen was the best love interest fr, that ending fucked me up
@@rylout1786 and when Andrew was talking about Gwen and when he had his redemption in NWH it was so sad 😭

I've always loved Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. I couldn't understand if people were joking when they said he was the worst.
I DIED at "with great responsibility comes great territory" line lmaoo, that was too good
"With great responsibility comes great territory" wise words by Dylan 😢
Andrew played the BEST Spider-man!!!🕷️🕸️
Andrew got way too much for his portrayal. He's a better actor than what people give him credit for.
Althought Tom Holland is my favourite, you can't deny that Andrew did an amazinggg job. He was literally so charming
@@stardust_6129 he isn’t called The Amazing Spider-man for nothing 😌
Nah
Really💀
Who remembers when this film first came out it got hated on so much & Andrew had his experience ruined due to the hate & Sony, there was suppose to be a third film… so sad it took people so long to appreciate these films. 😢
Andrew ruined his own chance at a third film, by disrespecting a corporate executive at a sony party.
@@mxviiitea?👀
@@oo4758 Basically Andrew Garfield was invited to a Sony event by the Sony chief himself who had this big speech ready where he planned to announce andrew as the star of spiderman 3 but at the last minute andrew didnt come to the event at all and kind of ignored the Sony dude. So he was terminated from the series. He had just arrived in Rio off a plane and probably just didnt want to attend the event out of exhaustion but it wasnt a good look for him then 😭
people respect them now? these are the worst spiderman films by far. not because of Andrew Garfield he is fine but the writing and plot are terrible
I’ve always loved Andrew’s Spider-Man. His acting in this is so phenomenal and tearful at times.
Such a good movie
Good
Hhskk
Thumbs up

ugh i LOVE andrew’s spiderman. there is such a profound sadness in andrew as a human (he always looks like he’s in a bit of pain, even when he smiles) and it made for an impeccable portrayal. im a fairly new marvel fan but i do think they didn’t give him a third movie bc it got too dark and too real - just my guess. does anyone know why they stopped at 2?
everyone (at the time) hated tasm 2. they thought that the script was awful and that the movie was rushed. a lot of fans were wondering why they were forcing too much villains in the film, mostly bc of management forcing so that they could sell more toys (money talks). aside from the mixed reviews, the movie bombed in box office, and a lot of fans also thought it was too depressing. who would expect (kid or adult) that a superhero movie would let you leave the cinema feeling depressed. all of these plus the sony hack of 2014 ultimately led to the cancellation
@@cosas_de_gatos thank you both! and yes he was amazing in no way home 😭 that redemption moment with MJ was heart-wrenching
@@ninacael fr 😭
They actually stopped because Peter was getting too old. That's what they do, the Spider-Man character is trapped in a coming of age story. When Tom finally becomes too old, they're going to start over again.
I think Andrew Garfield is the best “Spider-Man.” I feel that while great actors and Spider-Men in their own way both Toby and Tom seem to miss that “friendly neighborhood” part.
I think Tom has it too especially in the first movie but then his story gets sidetracked by the mcu multiverse shenanigans
tom got the kid part down , toby was a bit nerdy ; andrew 's just charismatic
i think that all of them are good but i just like Andrew abit more in general as an actor, id say that Tobey is the best one if you compare them to the comics, the Andrew and Tom ones are more "cool" while Tobey is more of a "nobody" and Peter in comics was kind of a nobody in the beginning, but imo the best overall actor is Andrew and then Tom
I’m so happy dylan laughed at the knife scene, that scene is a clear representation of the real comic book spiderman
Andrew Garfield will always be my favourite Spider-Man, he was so perfect for the role and the movies are still some of my favourite to this day
IT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN A WHOLE MINUTE
“With great responsibility comes great territory” took me out lmao
Only Dylan can make a joke funnier by explaining it 😂
Nothing beats when Dylan actually enjoys the movie
Dylan had the perfect reactions to Uncle Ben talking about Gwen being on Peter’s computer. 🤣
You being 21 and all, you could be the next Spider-Man. You even got that hot and nerdy thing going. 😂
Ehh, idk. He’d have to shave because Peter Parker with facial hair is weird but he looks too good with facial hair to shave.

You don't understand how proud I am Dylan, you finally went shopping for new clothes, it's been years

I love all the other Spider-man’s dearly but Andrew Garfield will forever remain my favorite Peter Parker he’s such a soft boy and so pure hearted you can’t help but find him endearing as hell
crazy how a few years ago this was the most hated spiderman but now it’s beloved

Been fighting over this since I saw it in cinemas as a kid. Glad to see its finally getting the appreciation it deserves.
18:14 "bitten by a love bug" is a thing
Dylans high pitched voice whenever something stressful happens is so funny to me
Andrew Garfield is simply GODLY in this film
Sad to hear that Dylan has never been “bitten” by the love bug…
EXACTLY!!! i felt so bad for gwens mom and brothers! Imagine the dad whos the breadwinner and the super smart sister whos abt to go to university……
No need to explain the Unicorn Academy. We get that, Dylan. We get that.
Been contemplating watching it. Is it any good🤷🏾♀️😅
Would like to point out Gwen has a conversation with Flash about tutoring him early in the movie and you could easily have fit the joke in there.
The Amazing Spider-Man series does not get enough credit. Andrew's Spider-Man was HILARIOUS

@@tysangels bro I loveddd ultimate spider man (until it got bad)
I’ve come to a point where I can no longer watch a movie without wondering what would Dylan think about this
What I love the most about all the Spider-Man movies is that they adapted Peter's personality to the generation of teenagers of the time, that's why the three of them are so different.
I love Toby's because it was the first superhero movie I watched and for a long time, Spider-Man was the only superhero I kind of watched. I love Tom's because Homecoming was the reason I got into Marvel. And I love Andrew's because I was a teenager when those movies came out so I related more to his personality.
The soundtrack to this movie was so under appreciated, it’s so epic
Being "bitten by the love bug" is an expression, Dylan. 😆
