    To lubricate, maybe silicone spray is a better alternative to oil to avoid getting oil on our hands while jacking up.

    I’ve just bought two of these - ten euros each. One for up and one for lowering softly.
    I haven’t used them yet, but I can see plenty of uses for them. They look and feel really sturdy.

    I picked up a pair last week. First impressions are good. They're fairly sturdily made. I think I'll set them up as clamps as you can never have enough & then swap them back to lifters when needed. I'd definitely recommend getting a pair for £14. More lift capacity, you can use them together to lower in a more controlled manner & can lift more evenly. If they were £30 each, like most of the ones on Amazon I wouldn't consider it but two for £14 is a bargain. I wouldn't try jacking up my car with them (jk)but for hanging doors, lifting furniture or compressing tongue & groove boards, they are ideal.

    That’s a really handy bit of kit if something is lost under the settee, means you can hold a torch in one hand and retrieve the item with the other ….like it

    Thanks Phill, as I mentioned I bought a couple of these too, I've had a quick "play" to check them out but not used properly yet, should be a handy tool on occasions I think. I can imagine using it on top of a toolbox. or stool or something to get a cabinet at a precise height for attaching to a wall ! I've also heard people say they've used them to dismantle pallets but the prongs seem quite short for this, I'lll give it a go anyway just to see if it works !
    I think if you were worried about it dropping hard, you could do it in stages with a series of props (blocks of wood) I know that sounds like a faff, but if it was important not to slam down the item it could be worth it !

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Good points Andy. I would be amazed if people could break up a pallet with one of these. I think the handle would break before the pallet was dismantled.

    Hallo, hab mir heute zwei Stück gekauft, ich werde sie ein bisschen umbauen, indem ich bei 4 Schrauben breitere Scheiben einbaue, mein Meinung nach ist es Schwachstelle, im schlimmsten fall können die Schrauben durch den Plastik durch brechen, natürlich für kleinere Sachen reichen es auch so

    That "dry" sound is metal rubbing against metal. Which means its wearing itself out as you use it. It will probably work fine right up until it doesn't. And when it doesn't...

    Control the lowering by using the lift handle in reverse.

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I guess that might work although then you loose the back support of the tool and only have the smooth bottom which could make the object move while lifting and lowering.

      One use can be to push a piece of laminate flooring into position when you get to the end of the wall. It can squeeze the groove tight together with the bottom part against the wall and the prongs on the laminate.

    Dont put oil, wax or grease, as its a friction hold, putting something on it will not let it grip

      @@PhillWyattProjects In my case they needed lubrication to even work - I think the essence of how the mechanism works relies on the bits of metal through which the main shaft passes being tilted at a slight angle so the lubrication helps the shaft to pass through the slots in the metal and doesn't impede the action of the thing but actually helps it AND reduces squeaking.

      That may well apply to 100kg+ lifts but I've found you can kind of drop it in staged with a bit of release lever control + squeezing the handle at the same time. Far from perfect but also not a straight-up drop.
      A better solution is to take the two for £14 Lidl Plus deal and use a pair of them. That way you can step things down by letting off a cm or two in turn. Works pretty well & you get twice the lifting capacity for a very cheap price.

  • @ritapunzal9438
