Great to see someone with years of ownership. Mind giving the rest of us feedback on your experience wearing it over the last five years? Have you ever had it serviced? how are scratches? This really might be my first watch, ever.

      TheGiantBunnysaid
      1. Mine is similar to SBGH 213
      2. No requirement for service yet
      3. The watch is beautifully finished and polished to an exceptional standard.
      4. The cream coloured dial has a warm feel to it and sets off the hour markers beautifully. The markers stand proud of the face and with the high level of polishing play wonderfully with light and shadow. Some call the colour butter or cream but I think the GS designers are smarter than that. I think it reflects or copies two o’clock daylight thus it looks so perfect in daylight conditions.
      5. The strap is it’s weakest point but I’ve learned to love it.
      6. SIMPLICITY is a Japanese characteristic and because of the designs simplicity you are mesmerised by the play on light shadow shine and shape and a tiny detail like a blue second hand takes on a significance only a Japanese watchmaker could achieve. Less is More. Hope this helps.

I’ve had my snowflake since October 2019 and I wear it all the time and yes it scratches but being titanium the scratches kind of oxidise after a day or so and then you can hardly see them which is strange, however it doesn’t scratch any more than my Rolex Explorer 214270 did.

Just got the Snowflake last week and the SBGA413 looks just as beautiful. The Spring Drive watches are unique and superb on several levels: the flawless finishing, the lightweight high intensity titanium, beautiful dials, scratch resistance of the titanium, the accuracy of the spring drive and the relative bargain in terms of cost. Will likely add more Spring Drives to my collection and would love to see more Grand Seiko reviews from you.

I went in to the GS Boutique in Miami last month intending to buy a Snowflake, but walked out with the 'Spring' watch because it wore better on my wrist at 40mm. The dial and bezel less case had a bit more flair. I had my reservations about the shade of pink. In daylight it’s more pearlescent than anything.

I was buying my first luxury watch and deciding between this and the SBGA211 (snowflake) was impossibly hard. The dealer looked at me like I was crazy and I swapped them on and off my wrist, moving into the sunlight. Ultimately, I went with the Snowflake because of a slight (slightest) preference against the raised Crystal on this watch. Both are gorgeous, and I could see myself going back for this in a few years if it's still around.

    Dear Teddy,
I fallen in love with this watch the first time I had the chance to put my eyes and fingers on it at the AD in Florence - Ponte Vecchio. A few week ago I finally surrended and now my wrist is married with the Shunbun...It's really hard to resist to its ever-changing dial and to the unmatched finishing of the case and bracelet.
It is true that videos and pictures are not fair with Grand Seiko and its secret beauty that is unveiled only with the hands-on experience. But this is also part of the success of Grand Seiko!
Thank you for your great reviews and passion. I'm happy to be now oart of the GS9 community and hope to have the chance to pair the Shunbun with another gem from their gorgeous production.
For example my first approach to the GS world was the "Lake Suwa"...but it was too late as this limited series was already out of stock!
What is your opinion on Lake Suwa?
I hope the lake Suwa dial will be re-used by Grand Seiko so that I can complement my GS collection!

Have to agree. I don't think there is a watch brand that can match the "metal work" and/or dial craftmanship in a grand seiko. Trully an outstanding piece!!! Love the detail you go on the macro, great stuff! Keep up the good work!

I bought a snowflake about 9 months ago. Engraved near the crown is: "9R65-0AE0 A4 in a square and a bar with a U standing on it. All I know is that I got a Tudor Pelagos at the same time. After a few days of use, the Tudor Pelagos stopped (Dec 19) It is still in the shop for warranty. The GS is still on my wrist, working, revealing time and date on a regular basis without a problem. Every time I glance at it, I can see the time and I also see the snowflake face, which is replacing my interest altogether in my Batman Rolex. This GS just keeps giving me what I want in a watch. It keeps on working flawlessly. I rarely need to wind it. As long as it is my rotation, I don't give it any attention at all. I will give you a nine month summary of wearing it in the garden while I work; in the garage while I work on sports cars and on my wrist during essential shopping and social distancing. I alternate it with a nice Triumph limited edition battery watch that is large for when I want a large face on my wrist. I carefully ensure that my GS is wound before I put on the other watch. I have so many watches that I don't know what to do with them all, but most of them are designer or theme watches that do not have a great deal of value. Still I do have those and an Omega among my collection. The understated elegance of my watch and the rock solid reliability and very little wear marks on the band and none of the polished surfaces of the watch which are, surprisingly, apparently highly resistant to scratches, wear or marring. As for the above watch in this vlog, I like it, but I prefer the less showy or more pronounced design of the SBGA413. Having both said how much I dislike my Tudor's results, I do love its styling, although since it only worked for five days, and has been in the shop now for six months, I don't get to look at its styling. Meantime, my GS is endearing itself to me. AF

Such a stunning piece! Gotta say that’s another outstanding model from GS. Personally, I’d still prefer my GS snowflake though. For simply the slight pink on power indicator & 21mm lug width limit this piece from being a strap monster. Snowflake on the other hand, is absolutely gorgeous on tons of different leather straps.

Thank you Teddy for your wonderful review.
I really (I mean really really), appreciate all your close-up of the watch. I think you achieved (perfectly) to highlight how pure the dial is, how it plays with the light. That’s wonderful.
Because, we all have to keep in mind that, for a luxury watch, you have to consider the materials used, the movement (aka caliber), but we don’t have to forget how important all those combined, plays with your eyes/your perception, and the ambient light.
I think GS did it very, very well. The watch is amazingly precise, made of titanium, and « sublime «.
Thank you for letting me starting my day with a huge smile!

Watched a video of 'the best' watches from watchfinder. It features PP, VC and ALS. On the macro footage of the first two there were clear 'mistakes' on the dials. The ALS we didn't get to see long enough, so I couldn't say. Now I own two GS and I've watched a hundred videos on them and I've never, not even in macro, seen an error on the dial. Just incredible watches for the money.
Oh, and I 'need' this pink delight in my collection.
