Great footage of first class rugby, the way it used to be. What a team that Neath team were. Thanks for posting such great games.

Standard had fallen away by this point, most of the Neath players were found out at international level.

@@Atticus75 True but at club level they where superb. At that time England, Scotland and France where all very good. I used to love the Wales vs Ireland matches in the early 90s as it was always the most competitive

Great videos aren't they? I took my son to loads of Neath games a long time after the 80s and we always stood in the cow shed. The great thing about those times were nearly all teams had their dominic sessions and had great teams within a couple of seasons of each other.

I was at this game! Right in front of where Thorburn scored his try

Thanks for posting but having watched some of the NZ and Aussie highlights on Facebook from late 1980s early 1990s I would say Auckland were the best club side in the world.

Auckland were an awesome side but aren't they a provincial team rather than a club team. Also they say the Neath way of playing couldn't work at international level but I think that it was impossible to make it work unless everyone bought into the fitness side of it. I've heard tales of British lions forwards hiding so they didn't have to do the runs in training when Ron Waldron was Welsh coach.

From that era it’s Bath that where the best club side and I say that as a Bristol man. Bath 84-95 where insanely good. You had international’s that couldn’t break into the Bath side, essentially unheard of in the amateur era.

Brian was such a naturally strong tough as nails individual that the grim reaper had to take 2 weeks holiday afterwards
