About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Our critically acclaimed books include “STORE FRONT: The Disappearing Face of New York”, “New York Nights”, “STORE FRONT II- A History Preserved” and “Broken Windows-Graffiti NYC”.

Fun video guys, loved Hudson, he was so cute when Karla was ordering his hot dog he was looking up at the window until dad pulled him away. I could hear him thinking, "wait dad, my hot dog is coming".
Lorna we had so much fun walking around and sharing our adventures with you guys. Hudson definitely loved getting a hot dog 🌭 and I (Karla) will watch the replay to see his reaction while I ordered it for him to see how cute he looked. Thank you again for “walking along” with us!

J&K I got my RSD issues at Jamal's Village Revival - on Monday and Tuesday! Only because you showed it!
On Saturday I took at trip to a shop in Brooklyn which was listed - but no it did not participate, then lunch in West Village and a dash up to a midtown shop - which had what looked to me like a 3-hour line. Great to go to Village Revival, no wait and go my fill. Two items I bought were actually 2022 RSD releases, and that is fine.

guys is it true that canal street is called that way cause there was an actuall canal there back when ny was new amsterdam? ,so sorry for james btw .. i cant imagine whats it like to have to deal with that every single year ..
Yes it is true as Canal Street was completed in 1820 and followed the path of the covered canal that it is named for. The canal was covered as it was polluted and was an lien sewer.
