I always found the high end on the UAD massive passive to be harsh. With the latest plugin alliance EQs I never reach for the UAD massive passive anymore. Also gullfoss takes care of most mastering EQ needs pretty damn well. Along with Soothe 2. Still SUPER impressive that it could match it so well. I couldn’t tell any major differences.

I like it better on bass moves but liked the Pulsar better in the mids and highs. Bottom line, they both sound great with different flavors. We live in great times for audio work :)

thought some time about whether to write or not but then I don´t want to hold back as I witness how you are misleading people here.
Folia, how can you get in such a raving state about the Pulsar Massive, when it´s obvious, that it is a mediocre plugin? The walking around in your studio, raising hands over head, is that an expression of being lost in the mist?
Anyways. When you switch to Pulsar, the stereo fiel gets narrower, the livelyness isn´t as good and especially the nice low frequencies of the UAD is gone. In comparison the Pulsar has no beef to it, make material more flat.
Now some might have the impression Pulsar is better, when they listen for the Hi-Hat. Massive makes it sit de-tached up upon the whole sound and it appears louder. But a closer listen reveals the obvious. Although it seem louder, it has far less transient and it doesn´t glue with the rest any more. So it´s damaging the signal.
This is true for all scenarios with Massive as it reduces transients in all examples. It´s obvious in this plugin vs plugin example already.
No go get a listen on the Pulsar homepage. They have hardware vs plugin examples there. Boy, worlds apart and the incapabilty of proper transient handling is even more evident there.
    Please stop misleading people.
