I was having the same issues you mentioned with the image changing how it looks as a saved file (png and jpeg). To work around this I took a screenshot and pasted it in the document which fixed that issue and also allows you to apply filters to the screenshot version without distorting the composite. Also, you can turn the shapes into a smart filter-> apply gausian blur -> set blending mode to dissolve, this just gives more noise around the edges of the squares / rectangles and adds to the grungy brutalism aesthetic.
