Thank you for the love you have shown the SCV Percussion Line, Paul, the EB team for putting this production together! We are thankful that you appreciate this type of content and we are looking forward to bringing you more soon! Special thanks to Paul, the SCV Percussion section and the Santa Clara Vanguard organization for giving us this kind of media access! Also, if you'd like to learn from the Mastermind behind this line, check out Paul Rennick's 1st EVERY video masterclass (first of its kind really), by going to ensembleblock.com/pr
First off, this has to be the best lot video production I’ve ever seen so hats off to everyone at Ensemble Block and thank you for this! Secondly, either the politics of drum corps is still very much alive or the fact that the field judge has been removed , but this is not a 4th place percussion ensemble… I’m sorry. I’ve seen the lines and front ensembles that are beating SCV and there’s only 1 that even comes remotely close. These guys are on another level this year and even by Rennick SCV era. This is one of those 06’ , 10’ Phantom line, good. Wow. Aggressive, next level clean, balanced, and playing NOTES. Fantastic.
So happy for these super high quality vanguard videos, you guys are awesome! And this line definitely deserves better than 4th right now, top 2 for sure
Thank you so much for the kind words! We're hoping to bring more videos like this and the future and for this SCV line to get some more appreciation in the standings!
Rennick is just the best writer/arranger of at least the last decade IMO. We did a watered down version of his ‘94 UNT indoor show when I was in high school. Could be mic placement, but sounds like the snares are still trying to clean up the last few specs of dirt. Tenors and basses have it locked down hard. They’ll pull it all together over the next week or so heading to East and then finals. Sound amazing for a come-back group! Rooting for them!
High drums!! Done!! Hat’s off y’all. This is is Matrix level notes reefed and squeaky clean. Paul, WTF!!! The book is nuts. Thank you again for the inspiration. 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️
@@EnsembleBlock I don’t normally notice the bass line but the way they have theirs tuned is impeccable. It speaks very clearly, on top of being played excellently. I feel like the cymbal line also pushes the tonality of the line to make more impact. The whole line also playing very cleanly. They sound incredible.
Thank you to all our NEW and longtime Subscribers - we so appreciate your support! 🙏 If you enjoyed this video, please let us know with a Like, Comment, Subscribe, and please SHARE with a friend! We have a lot more to come, you can notifications on so you won’t miss the next upload - thank you!
As a professional brass musician and recording engineer, I’m blown away with the fantastic sounds you’ve captured here. May I ask what mics are employed for capturing this amazing line. Bravo SCV percussion!!
Loving all these videos coming out from Ensemble Block! Please tell me there will be videos of the front ensemble warm ups. Sandi Rennick and staff have set up just as an amazing group! Would love to see what their exercises are this year.
Thank you for the kind words...we'll do our best to put out more! We don't have too many clips of the front ensemble warm-ups, though we have plenty of shots of the front during full show runs (for example th-cam.com/video/YIxZKltbZRo/w-d-xo.html). Hopefully, next time we're at a show we'll make it a point to film their warmup! Cheers!
@@noahoul Yeah I looked at the scores from yesterday and they shouldn't be beating SCV or the Devils in Comp. They should be with Carolina in comp. They're achieving but with a less dense book. The SCV tenor section alone is destroying everyone! They are beast!!
SCV is famous for their Cymbal line, but in almost every SCV video they dont show them. For a lot of marching bands outside of DCI (even globally), Cymbal players look up to them. But its sad we cant see them in the videos, so disappointing 😢
We have tons of footage that we are working through. We are currently backed up with Texas All State video resources and Rennick's Online course. We will put it in the cue! Great idea! We will most likely have a section cam for a full run-through. 👍🏼
No way they should be scoring where they are in achievement!! I watched Boston and they're aren't this clean and their book is not this hard!! They should be winning drums right now.
Gonna get crucified for my opinion, but I don't care for this book. Sure, the difficulty and technicality is there, but where's the music? It sounds too technical and not musical.
You are certainly entitled to having your own opinion, but perhaps check it out in context with the full percussion sound? th-cam.com/video/YIxZKltbZRo/w-d-xo.html (there's notation for movements II & IV for a closer look). Even if it doesn't change your mind, again, you are certainly allowed to have your own opinion!
@@EnsembleBlock I appreciate the provided context and I agree that a good amount of impacts fit together with the full ensemble, but I still can't help but feel like the battery is just playing a game of "How many notes can we squeeze into every phrase?" It's just too much fluff in so many areas. It makes the music feel much more frantic than it should be.

Been following DCI since the early 80’s . I swear SCV STILL has the cleanest drum line for my money - just amazing how they step it up every year
After taking a year off, having a line this good their first year back is simply incredible!
You’ve got that right bud
I don't care what place they finish, they are the best line. Rennick's writing is unmatched.
Yes, everyone knows how good this group is and how good Rennick's writing is!
Paul Rennick has the BLUEPRINT locked for what a great Drumline should be!
@@DrumlineBlueprint - for sure 👍🏾

Props to SCV's chops! And boy can they play CLEAN!!!
Indeed they do!
Always wanted to know, did you ever march? I remember you saying years and years back you went to north texas!
Love Vanguard, their rhythms are always so hip. Cold as ice too. Proud to attend North Texas where Rennick teaches.

performing there next week for my hs state comp!!

Rennick is the man! They were working hard all week that we were there just repping and cleaning. Regardless, they do sound amazing after a year off!
Congrats EB Team for this amazing production!
Team effort all the way!
Still my favorite line of the year and I doubt that will change by finals. Thanks so much for this high quality footage!
Our pleasure to produce and bring it people who will appreciate it like yourself!
Bro they were nervous and still clean as ever 😂 once they shook those warmups off it was go time
The go time mode is intense!
absolutely on fire!
Where there's smoke...🔥🔥🔥🔥
So clean and tasteful, incredible playing
It's an experience to hear and see this live!
@@EnsembleBlock I bet, must be amazing to see/hear firsthand
Love the bass drum tuning
Basses sound great!
Best tuning, best overall balance, best line… but tuning for sure, nostalgic, but supremely clean and relaxed.
This drumline is impressive
100% agree with this!

No one's touching this line. Rennick is the GOAT. His arrangements and lines are unmatched.

Sounds like they’re going for a Title this year. Sounds like #1 in drums to me.
Oh, they are absolutely going for it!
Sick
Right?!
Hey that’s my snare tech
10:41. Likely the cleanest snare part I’ve ever heard played.
They are able to pull off long phrases of clarity!
The only dynasty line left.
The drums sound amazing!
They showing everyone what’s up
All day everyday!
97.69% piss clean. Almost there.
They work hard at it!
For the algorithm. ✊
Thanks fam!
SCV, BLOO or BAC for the Sanford this year.
All great groups for sure!
Center looks like a tall, skinny Harry Potter, if Harry Potter flipped his hair around every time he played a rim-shot.
He's definitely a boss!
Why is bass 1’s left rim black and not red?
It seems they are all black on the left rim.
How is boston beating this?
By finals
