Interesting, but I'm not sure I'd buy it, because at the beginning it'd be 1 or 2 hours of playing with it and having fun, but after that I'd probably get bored with it, and as it's just a toy without any practical use cases (for me) it'd probably regret buying it. One technical suggestion for the manufacturer: Maybe it'd be a good idea to put the battery in that floating Wi-Fi module and make it easily replaceable (e.g. one in use, another one charging). It'd make that drone useful for people who search for stuff underwater more professionally - those search sessions often take hours/days straight.
If you want to search underwater under a profressional setting. The Deep Trekker DTG3 is the only choice.. This dory is purely a toy, the DTG3 has 8hr battery life, 200meter (~600ft) dive depth. Its a commercial grade drone.
Here in Australia its $949.99 Aus dollars (632 USD) which is super expensive. I feel like this is super overpriced considering it only has a 1080p camera and considering that fact that it’s max depth is only 49ft. I’ve always been interested in exploring the ocean and waters but unfortunately the price to do so is a lot of money. I really hope there is a budget one on its way or major price drops.
You can get a really nice one for 3000 usd. This little football drone is a good starter drone where you don't have to spend a lot of money and lose the drone.
Could you use it for ice fishing in the cold water it would be awesome to drill one hole and look around the area to see if there was any fish within its reach
If the GPS gives you relative orientation, then a digital compass might not be needed, and maybe a sort of grid screen over the thruster ports to keep out weed and gunk, this would be so versatile. I'll bet the few minor problems you encountered with this model will be addressed in a future model. Good luck!
i am looking at getting one of these. I read a lot of reviews where people had a lot of issues with the ap, the rov itself. how long have you had it? any issues? do you recommend?
$500 is steep for this for me. If it had a better camera and light and SD card slot Id be Happier. The App seemed a bit cruddy and had connection issues with my android phone. I got a waterproof case for an I pad and it works awesome. Chasing did get back to me fast and wanted to help me fix the problem. It would cost more to build your own.
"plays a little pirate tune"??? 🤣🤣🤣 I'm guessing this guy has never used an ESC before. That's the standard tune that any ESC makes (the motors actually) when it connects with the flight controller. I'm a little surprised that they didn't program a new tune in it's place. All that work to design and engineer an underwater drone and they didn't even figure to give it a cool ESC tone.
@@Asuma492 It is on wireless power, the battery is in the drone. If you want to control the drone wireless, you need the much lower frequencies of these old RC AM or FM Transmitters, 27, 35, 40 or in your country maybe 70 Mhz. But you then still will be limited to around 5m depth at best. You cannot send these 2.4 ghz frequencies through water. Water absorbs high frequencies fast. If you want to go deeper, you'll need much, much lower frequencies, that means really long antennas, high transmitter power and these frequencies have to be legal too. Since the signals travel far, the'll catch you in no time, if your signals interfere with something important. Physics can only be beaten in film.
I seen someone else’s video and it packed up working and two goes plus the app doesn’t work on most phones if your thinking of buying any underwater drone watch more videos of not just this one but any your basically paying 500. Dollars for a forty dollar child’s toy
I prefer the wired version (just got mine! can't wait to test it) as then you can save a drone w/dead battery or stuck in some weeds... what I would change is I would add some microSD card slot to the buoy and extend the cord for an improved reach
That is an expensive toy to loose to tree branches inevitably present at bottom of lakes. Cool gadget although video quality is so-so; interesting review!
40 feet is lame, and no grab arm is also lame. I'll pay more for a FiFish without the limits. I want to recover onion bottles to sell them, so this is just a toy to me.

John, for an angler it's a dream toy. Especially for lakes where it's prohibited to fish from a boat.
I feel like if it was much cheaper I would consider buying it, and here where I live it’s and extra $100 USD to purchase.
What about salt water does it do well in salt water
Probably something to do with buoyancy
It's a submarine its ment for water dont u see people use it in the sea bruhhhhhhhh

This but with a gyro and a better camera. I hope DJI goes this route in the future.
CNET: This is the most affortable drone.
Me: You never gave the price of the drone.

Its on amazon for $339
Thanks Surge, I hate when they do that. They can say " At the time of this recording it's $xxx" to future proof the video.
YO! The price is in the 2nd shot of the video. Chasing Dory underwater drone $499. It's on sale right now though. How could you miss it!
pretty easy to miss but you are right.
Super cool
Is this worth it???? Or should i get gladios mini???? Im stuck between the two
Napokon odlican video
Love it
"It weights 4lbs or 1.1kg" 🤔 Only in America.
that's wrong - 4lbs are ~1.8 kg

Did you get it? I am also looking at buying it
Will it work in fresh water?
I definitely wanna get this for future vlogs.
i want that on the fuel injection must be yenko and must be yours
They should be able to improve the impeller design to be more rock friendly

How much from underwater?
cheaporone is definitely pneughfarmind
Question, can we replace the Chasing Dory cable with a longer one? greetings from Concepcion Chile!
Chile not good soccer they quit poor. Don’t bother buying this gimmicks
I wanna get one but I know at some point I’ll get the tether caught and waste $500
If there any older subscibers why not the flying sub?
Me who was looking for a 50 dollar one

Let me know when it's wireless.
You don't want this thing to be wireless. If it gets stuck in a current or in some seaweed it's gone.
@@CNET wireless power to be exact not completely wireless where I'm gonna lose the thing lol.
Wireless? It is wireless.
Good luck getting a (wireless) tx / rx to pass the radio signals through 50 feet of water and also air.

Still dont know the real price some sites put it over 1000$
Dronening Dory
drones in the air don't need to be tethered, and can stabilize themselves in wind.
What if internet is not available
Damn affordable to me is like 30 maybe 60$ cooooo
Cable!?
Why nobody ever is testing these things in dark water rivers? Testing in clear water is not really what you can call ''a test''.
What's a fuckin' BOOEY when it's at home?! :D
It would be cool if it had an auto return home like DJI drones
That would be helpful for sure.
@@CNET it does lol it’s a hidden feature. Well mine does atleast
Wait, its not wireless?🙄
I sure hope it's Wifi6.
times ppv times
many people gonna use drones in future. when they have half price of this one. too expensive still
Yea
49 Foot depth is weak sauce when talking about under water depths.
this device can find sunken treasure ships
