I was surprised at how balanced a review you gave the album, -as previously your focus (or obsession 😇) has been/seems to be predominately BTS, who are not as dark as EXO. I am glad you have widened the net to other groups or even solo albums as your commentary was entertaining. Who knows after listening to EXO "Sweet lies" or watching "Gravity" you may choose to come over to the dark side of EXO.

Oh you will love "The War: Power of Music" (Repackage) from EXO too. Its so experimental! Its my favorite album, Obsession being a close second (and yeah, i love the first half of it way more than the second half too). The War is just very freaky and some songs need a few listens to get used to.
The worst thing about this album for me is it’s missing three members. Two were enlisted in the military and Lay, the Chinese member was limited in his promotions with the group.
This album is all about duality, as you can see in the Obsession MV (and the contrast between the bridge and the rest of the song). That's why you have darker and brighter songs in the album.
I can't describe how much I love the voice and vocals of Chanyeol and this is the main rapper of the group that's what the KINGS OF VOCALS OF ALL K-POP means. Chanyeol has a great command of his voice and I really like how it can be from incredibly gentle and deep to rude and audacious. I've followed your channel since your video on Exact, and while I've seen many more of your videos I've low-key been waiting for more EXO videos, and this really delivered! Obsession's whole concept is about EXO vs X-EXO (if we go by their lore, EXO are aliens and X-EXO are their evil clones) so the first half is X-EXO while they are turning into EXO as the album goes on. the album seems to change themes because of the concept. The dark half being xexo(their couterparts in the lore haha) and exo the ogs. If its all dark then there would be no vs. theme. Hopefully that makes sense

If I may I would really recommend watching Suho’s solo album titled ‘grey suit’. It’s really good, my favourite being decanting and hurdle but I love the entire album 😊
I think that with groups like EXO and BTS, that have such a extense discography, you can hate one album and love another lol glad you liked some of the songs!! I love them being dark and creepy

You should watch their live performances. They are Really really good. I am not into K pop concerts or any concerts for that matter, however after seeing Exo's live performances clips, I regret I didn't know them back then ..Hope i still got chance One day for their future concerts.

I've followed your channel since your video on Exact, and while I've seen many more of your videos I've low-key been waiting for more EXO videos, and this really delivered!
Obsession's whole concept is about EXO vs X-EXO (if we go by their lore, EXO are aliens and X-EXO are their evil clones) so the first half is X-EXO while they are turning into EXO as the album goes on.
And I'm glad you liked this album! It's one of their best in my opinion, and I can't wait for you to listen to Don't Mess Up My Tempo, Universe or The War, which are all my favorites from them.

the album seems to change themes because of the concept. The dark half being xexo(their couterparts in the lore haha) and exo the ogs. If its all dark then there would be no vs. theme. Hopefully that makes sense
