Found your video as I have a similar guitar to ship. Checked USPS Priority rate using your dimensions and it's now $31 to ship with them. UPS & FedEx are considerably less, approximately $15. (Shipping from GA to NJ)
Really liked this video. Shipping has been my biggest problem. I have passed on items before because I didn’t know how I could ship it. I worry more about using the right box than anything else. I am learning from you how to make it work. I only do usps so far. Hopefully when I get that down pat I can branch out. 🌈
Cardboard for extra protection. Yes! And then I saw you run your fingers over the seams. I do that too, 'cause you know if it can catch on a piece of machinery, it will. Very helpful video!
This is how I've always shipped guitar hero guitars as well except I use 2 boxes instead of 3. I also usually chance it at the 12"x3" measurement. Sometimes it can be a several dollar difference in shipping price.

Hey Kevin, I love your frankenboxing videos especially, but did you know that you can easily separate the neck from the body on the guitar and further reduce shipping costs?
Would it make more sense to make cuts down the sides of the inner box so that it collapses inward when you put the outer box over it, instead of busting out the sides of the outer box, making it look messy and requiring more tape?
@@commonwealthflipper But isn't that the top of the guitar where you have at least two inches of void space on either side of the neck? You still have one solid wall of outer box in the middle just like you do at the very bottom and very top.
Yes, they sadly don't make these boxes anymore... such a bummer. Wish @commonwealthflipper would do an updated video with how he is doing these guitars now being that those boxes aren't available anymore...

2 is plenty good. 3 is unnecessary.

There is a formula but I am a history teacher so it was trial and error.

Some you can and some you can't.

@@ColetteO_You CAN separate them, but it involves unscrewing several screws and exposing the wiring inside.... Not worth it, in my opinion

Maybe but it breaks down the structure of the box to much and puts pressure on the guitar.

I went to post office and they said they’ll send it back to me exact way you did it lol .
I stopped by post office to grab these boxes but there are no 1095 , have they been replaced?
