This was the first season of 49ers football that I had to watch at very odd times. (In the early AMs) I immigrated to Taiwan in March 1994, to teach English. All I had were very very late replays. There were no sports bars in my area in 1994.
I love it, it was a blind side murder job, and then at the end of the play the saints get penalized for an out of bounds shove? Jim Mora looked like he just wanted to die. It's hilarious when these new kids talk about how rough and tough the NFL is now
On one level it was a salary cap casualty. Aside from that, Ricky waters wanted to carry the ball 20 to 30 times per game Ala Emmitt Smith, Thurman Thomas and the other backs of the era. There were reports that he wanted more money than Jerry rice was getting paid which was never gonna happen. It's supposedly prompted some of his teammates to call in the most selfish 49 or ever. Then again none of that may have mattered. The 40 niners were so high on OC Mike Shannahan that they were willing to fire George Seifert after winning the Super Bowl and make Shanahan the head coach. Watters openly criticized shanahan right after the Super Bowl Because he didn't get enough touches. Oh yeah he had 3 touchdowns that game
Or...if wanted too much of the ball, why didn't they find a reasonable replacement for the West Coast Offense. Giving it to Derek Loville was, as you say, beyond us.
Salary cap and then Ray Rhodes took the Eagles HC position. Watters should be in the HOF already. When the 49ers let Watters and Deion Sanders walk, I knew the run was over.
He did but the 49ers played more man to man while the cowboys used a zone. Fit wise, he was better with the 49ers. Hard to compete with the contract he got for going to the cowboys
@@clickman443 maybe in his 1st yr in dallas in 95 but in 96 when Kevin Smith came back from Achilles injury they were playing straight man to man. It was times when Deion & Kevin Smith didn't even go in the huddle
I still say Steve Young ran that offense from 1992-1998 better than Joe Montana eve did. Young was as good a decision maker as Montana but he had a better arm, was more accurate and was extremely athletic for a QB.
That Niner helmet would look better with a red face mask...and those ‘94/‘95 uniforms where ugly. Still a great team though as they’d make it to the SB.
The hits Steve Young took were ridiculous
Just watching Jim Mora's heartbreak over and over again with every call 🙄😆
My first NFL game. I was 12 years old. Good memories!!!!
These are the greatest years of players, coaches, announcers and uniforms ever in the nfl. God I miss those days.

At least it was a worthwhile season.
This game was blacked out in New Orleans, so I've literally never seen this game. Thanks for the upload!
Not only was now-Fox station WVUE barred from airing the game, but also WBRZ in Baton Rouge and WLOX in Biloxi.
Saints had to face the 49ers AND Dallas at home that year…ouch
Whenever I think of this game is that block Nate Singleton put on some player for the Saints. Believe it was around the 12:27 mark
Also liked the TD he scored later, and the teams reaction.

At that point in time, it was hard to live without the Dome patrol complete but the splitting up already started..
Why the 49ers didnt re-sign Rickey Watters after the season is beyond me. 4:51

Watters would turn the ball over too damn much
Niners big mastake
Deion Sanders played better with the 49ers then he did with the Cowboys.

@@SuperFuck... Jerry Was hatin thats why
The 49ers thoroughly dominated this game the 35-14 score was misleading. Those 2 49ers turnovers made the game much closer
49ers could’ve put up close to 50 and the Saints should’ve had 0.
49ers use to own the Saints back then.
How did Dan dierdorf ever become a broadcastor

I’ll take Joe cool.
You're high. Get help.

Those 94 SF uniforms were throwbacks from the 40s & 50s.
I wonder if this is the famous Jim Mora rant game? The Saints famously played like diddly Poo in the second half LOL 😂😂😂
That was his last game with the Saints in 1996
His best rant was after Wade Wilson got hurt. He says sick or sickest about 30 times in 2 minutes.
@@classicsports5057 Yeah he definitely had some good ones for sure LOL
@@classicsports5057 do you have THAT game too - Giants @ Saints on MNF in '93?
Dude you guys are all wrong, that's when he was the coach of the colts
