Henderson and Thomas were never on the same team as Henderson came into the league in '75.
Some clarification to that statement is definitely warranted.
    RIP #33

In that Super Bowl triumph over Miami, the Cowboys dominated in both sides of the line of scrimmage. Offensively, they ran the ball inside with Fullback Walt Garrison, which set up the outside runs by Duane Thomas. Thomas got to the corner so quickly that he would gain about 7 or 8 yards before he would either be tackled or knocked out of bounds. Although I feel that Chuck Howley was deserving of the MVP award, albeit Roger Staubach was given the award, one could make an argument for Thomas because of his dominant play at halfback all game long.

@@michaell874 i guess i have to answer my own question based on speculation because unfortunately redzone usa won't provide one.
i did not want to say this so soon after the passing away of Thomas
as a show of respect, but Henderson and Thomas may have been cell neighbors in prison.

A pure case of attitude destroying a career. He shined bright for a brief 2 years though.

Also, the Cowboys' front office not treating him right after stellar performances in his first two seasons. He rightfully resented the lack of recognition from the Cowboys' notoriously stingy organization.

@@christophergraves6725 Of course, but many players were done the same way by that front office and went on to have stellar careers. The late Jim Brown had a lot of responsibility for what happened to Duane.

@@rjhyden I agree that Duane's resentment led to his cutting off his nose to spite his face, which was not good for him or anyone else.
What role did Jim Brown play in his anger and resulting aloofness?

@@christophergraves6725 He was acting as a personal advisor around that time. The day after Super Bowl VI, there was cartoon in the sports section of the Dallas News that depicted Duane as a ventriloquist dummy in Jim's lap. That pretty well sums it up. I wondered later was Jim worried about Duane eclipsing him because , at the time, Duane was being constantly compared to Jim. I was a freshman in college that January.

@@rjhyden Thanks for that background. I don't remember being aware of Jim Brown's influence on him at the time. I just now saw a video of the locker room after the Cowboys' win in Super Bowl VI. I saw the game at time, but ran outside and set off fireworks and did not see the interviews after the game until today. Tom Brookshier interviewed Duane Thomas with Jim Brown right behind him. Your characterization of the appearance of their relationship was borne out in that odd interview that threw Tom for a loop with Jim Brown interceding at times to answer the questions posed to Duane.
