    One of the little things I miss from the Sims 3 is the cuddle animation for couples when they sleep. Couples sharing a bed in Sims 4 feels so static, I miss them scoot over to spoon for a bit.

    I think what is lacking from the Sims 4 is an amount of soul. It has aspects like a money making mobile game, very narrowly focused on the young adult life stage. And is very pointed at like 12-16 year olds (from a marketing perspective). That soul I think was the zany silly darkness of the Sims series.
    Which I think connects to the loss of the memory system and reactions which are what I miss over all from the sims 3. I think we are missing visceral reactions, like children witnessing parents fighting or seeing their parents cheat. Things that happen in real life. This is like the reputation system but deeper I think. Stuff like being fired from your job because you chose the wrong chance card or forgetting the burglar alarm and having an object you worked so hard for taken from your house. Fire being so deadly.
    I want my actions to matter in the game, and the events surrounding them to matter, and it seems like they really don’t matter at all. Which maybe is a bit weary feeling during our pandemic times but I miss the cloud of fear that my sims lived under. I don’t want random deaths (random in the true sense). But it seems so hard to actually kill sims without resorting to cheats or mods. I’m not like give me a murder expansion, or add hard drugs, that is what modders are for. There’s no danger, there is no risk, and no consequences for really anything I do.

    • @BrandonMetcalf
      @BrandonMetcalf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      Oh hey I remembered another thing, like the random aspirations your kids would get if you didn't raise them well enough. Your child is an evil grump because you neglected them when you went to the nightclub instead and stuck them with a nanny, also they hate you, would be a great consequence. A little loss of control is also something I miss.

Although TS3 is my favorite game in the franchise, one of few complaints I have is that it feels a bit childish compared to TS2. At TS4 it was frankly just getting ridiculous, both in terms of gameplay and that horrific cartoonish art style!

    Currently playing Sims 3 with all of the packs for the first time. I did my first vacation ever and had a blast, tomb raiding was great. Wish I had known that there's not really much for children to do though, would've left kiddo at home, but she had fun meeting local kids at least. Now she's a teen learning to drive and has prom coming up soon.
    Desperately hoping for at least open neighborhoods in 5, I take my Sims places so much more in 3 because everything is just THERE. Also, opportunities! They tend to get my sims out of the house as well and I didn't realize how much I missed them.

      There won't be, there's a reason it's not in 4. They got rid of the things that caused the game to lag or crash. Open worlds was a big contribution to that lol. • @TheNinjaNiky
      @TheNinjaNiky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SolisIlanga no, they did so because with the better graphics and all, if they had an open world too you'd need a pretty decent computer to keep up with it. And most sim players aren't avid gamers with great processors and graphics cards lmao. Not too mention the size the games would be, they're already huge and you have expansion after expansion. If they did it like the sims 3, and had all the better graphics and such, that shit would easily exceed 500GB. And it would take forever to push out expansions because doing the AI and tracing at a decent level in that amount of space would take a long time because of all the options. And then on top of that would be the lagging and crashing problems lol. They do things for a reason, they don't just think to themselves, hm what can we do today to make our core audience mad😂 EA knows that the Sims series is probably their most profitable series, I don't think they're trying to fuck it up lol

      @@edendrew I think it was even slightly more complex than that, so if you had a bad pregnancy they were more likely to get randomly assigned bad traits, with a decent pregnancy they might get randomly assigned better traits, fairly good and you'd get to pick one out of two, and with a very good pregnancy you got to pick both traits. Not 100% sure about the good/bad traits thing though, might just have been coincidence in my game.

    I love this video so much! But can we please stop with the compromises with EA for TS5. I've seen it from a lot of simmers and I'm just frustrated that we likely won't get a better game than TS3 from them in the future. And simmers on TH-cam making videos where they talk about open world being to difficult to get right and settling for open neighborhoods is just reassuring for them and quite scary for us.
    I don't know any simmer in real life who will buy the next game if EA can't even manage to make an open world function. I personally won't bother too. All we are wishing for the Sims 5 is for EA to care again and not make another mess that even after 7 years and a million packs, is less deep and fun than TS2 and 3 were, with less gameplay and animations too.
    I still remember what we hoped TS4 would be in 2014. A better open world with public transportation, gradual aging, different Sim heights, curved walls, water physics and the likes were the most prominent wishes. And what we are wishing for TS5 is less than what TS3 had to offer? There is a problem here in my opinion 😓

      Yes I find it really frustrating as well, I'd rather just keep getting DLC for TS4 if they're going to be making compromises for TS5. @@murtleturtle4027 I think that's actually a good idea to be able to adjust like that! It could be in the game settings for performance options - bigger open area means more stuff that needs to render, meaning worse performance on slow machines, so if we had the option to choose between a few options that would be awesome! Those of us who want fully open worlds can get that, whereas people who prefer open neighborhoods or just loading one lot at a time can do that. Honestly that's a brilliant idea, it would make everyone happy and I can't imagine it's TOO hard to program (assuming they can make open worlds in the first place, but from there it shouldn't be too much of an issue to create different options)

    The two biggest step-ups from TS2 to TS3 were the open world and create-a-style/color wheel, and I absolutely loved both! I was gutted when neither was included in TS4. Lots of people seem to favor the idea of a semi open world, but to me that doesn't really feel sufficient. Saves you some loading screens I guess, but a large part of why I want open worlds is so that different household members can be in vastly different locations at the same time while still all being controllable. Have my kid go over to a friend's house after school while dad goes to the pool and mom works on her career skill at home, you know? And a lot of people complain about create-a-style but god I absolutely adored it, the creative aspect has always been one of my favorite parts of the Sims franchise (I am also the type to still play those little online dress-up games as an adult lol)! Everything became infinitely more versatile with create-a-style, it was marvellous, 10/10

    I'm still playing sims 3 on the same computer I played it on in high-school, now an 8 year old laptop, with lots of expansions and surprisingly it works so well!! I was playing a custom made world and it would. not. run. my game would pause for 10 minutes at a time. when I play something less insane it works so well and wow I just love this game. the open world!!! oh my god!!! its just so amazing and immersive and God I love the sims 3

    Every time I “play” the sims 4 (aka just build) I get so sad. It feels so empty compared to the sims 3. It’s just crazy to me how it downgraded so much in terms of actual gameplay. :/

    I miss everything, that's why I've started playing again. The experience is different from way back when I had a shitty laptop and was only able to play with 4 packs on medium specs😂 and it would still crash or error 12. The difference is that I have a bad ass laptop now, play with nraas mods, all packs and in big custom worlds with all specs on high, it's awesome.

    I still play Sims 3 - I have the base game of Sims 4 and the Pets expansion, but I just can't seem to get into playing. Sims3 has a way of sneaking up on you and surprising you, whereas Sims4 seems to require you to orchestrate every little detail and takes away the element of surprise. I also love the open world or Sims 3 - Sims 4 just seems too tiny.

    One thing I like in TS3 is having lots of public spaces with things in it ! TS4 worlds feel massive in scale compared to your sims, and so very very empty. I don't just want to go to a place to stand around with a friend and chit-chat, I want to do things and interact with the world, and feel like I'm actually in my town center, not either out in suburbia hell or in a different town entirely.

    what I miss from the sims 3 is basically everything.... sims were so cool back then! I loved the vampires, they targeted people to drink their blood, it was harder to find out who's one - rn all they do is pop up in different places making sims annoyed or appear at your doors but won't come in without the trait that allows them to... curfew for teenagers, the police, diving! fairies, horses and unicorns!! really there's so much stuff it's insane! if i remember well you could play with animals?

    the best way to do open world without an entire open world is by doing a semi-open world, where you have smaller neighborhoods of a bigger town but where there are no loading screens between lots (of the same neighborhood). Also, to make worlds feel more unique, there shouldn't be a way to fast travel instantly from anywhere to anywhere, but instead there should be modes of long-distance transportation available and the presence of sims from a different world should be an exception, not the rule.
    One of the things i miss the most from TS3, other than the open world, is the Nectar Making skill from World Adventures. Yeah we have canning and juice fizzing but nectar making is different because it also comes with shelves and canteens to store the nectar and make it age, you can also find precious bottles in the tombs and there was a large variety of grapes to make your combinations unique.
    Also i really miss the ability to buy and own lots. A rich sim could REALLY feel rich if they owned the whole town.
    And finally, i miss so many things from expansions, like pretty much everything from Island Paradise that isn't present in Island Living. The resorts, the exploration, the houseboats, diving underwater in coral reefs, actually saving people with the lifeguard profession...i do not miss the lag however. Or in general everything about Into the Future, or the firefighter profession from Ambitions...

    For me the Sims 4 game lacks the “game” aspects. Becoming “as realistic as possible” is not always the best thing. For me, I think they are trying to take mods they saw creators using for the pass games and wanted to add them and force them on everyone themselves in the sims4. Sims 3 has that sense of entertainment and unrealism that people like to escape real world from. Sims 2 & 3 (mainly 3 for myself) will always be superior. Sims 4 lost me when they re added a loading screen going from place to place 🥴😣. I really on like the CAS. Love your videos ❤️❤️

      @TheNinjaNiky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm for the loading screens. Idk why so many people are against it, it's just when you're loading a lot. I had a lot of problems in 3 that would probably have been fixed if there was a loading screen on the lot. I was almost never able to do the graduation ceremony because all the sims would just stand there stuck.

    I find the sims 4 more ‘user friendly’ I like the build mode and create a sim, and how easy it is to use. However, I feel a lot of the sims 4 is shallow and lacks the quirkinesses and personality that the previous versions had. The sims in the sims 2 and 3 feel more ‘alive’ to me than in the sims 4 and it feels like the traits I choose don’t really do anything or make much difference in the sims 4 like the did in 3. The children in sims 2 and 3 definitely had more depth and personality and did a lot of things autonomously that made them feel more like children where as sims 4 kind of makes me feel like I am playing with lifeless dolls and have to manually make them act interesting.

    @danielsantos6437 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sims 4 is the result of companies idea of what modern audiences want or are willing to buy. And honestly they know better than us because it works. In reality, from EA perspective, Sims 4 is a huge financial success. Modern audiences didn't play the old titles they don't know what to expect or what could there be other than the candy they are offered with Sims 4. And let me tell you, that candy is bland and tasteless. In sims 3 and previous titles the life simulation aspect was more fun and even realistic, the details matter such as the kissing animations, couples cuddling in bed, and many more, with only one aspiration a sim life could already be played a lot of different ways, you could create a more bleak and gruesome life environment for your sim or work towards making your sim happy, yes you had to work towards it, unlike Sims 4. But what really makes me think Sims 4 is trahs is EA took away what made the Sims game so popular back in the day. All those little gritty, dark and silliness aspects of life that could happen to your sim like getting mugged on the subway, sims reacting realistic to seeing their couple cheat in front of them, Sims 4 is a doll house and nothing more, You can't have meaningful relationships in Sims 4 because husbands and wives cheat constantly, especially since they made almost all sims a sexual orientation as broad as the universe. They will cheat with men or woman, animal or rock and it takes no effort at all from the player, even with charisma 1 you can get Tom's wife pregnant, he finds out and you still are best buddies and while we're at it you can also cheat Tom's wife with Tom and yeah they will get sad for two hours but in no time you're all best friends again.
    That's sims 4, a candyland utopia where every sim is always happy by default! Animations look like we're watching a kids carton with exaggerated movements. Every life stage feels and plays almost the exact same, there's no point to have a young adult, adult or elder if their gameplay is all the same. Did I mention that even picking different aspirations your sim life will always ultimately follow the same routine of endless happiness? Yes, you have emotions like sad, embarrassed etc, but they mean nothing, in no time and with no effort on the player part, your sim will be back into cadyland utopia full of happiness. And excluding physical appearance, your sims are indistinguishable from my sims, because the game has so few traits that they all once again feel and play the exact same as any other sims.
    But EA doesn't care about any of this. They sell packs that'll take you just two hours to explore all the new content if you're lucky and they sell it with ridiculous prices. And if you're unlucky, they'll sell you a pack with so little care and effort that it literally doesn't work like the wedding pack. But they continue to sell it like cupcakes and the modern audiences happily buy it so it clearly works, and so we have Sims 4, a trash game in my opinion but in reality a very successful game, and that's why I don't run a business.
    at really makes me think Sims 4 is trahs is EA took away what made the Sims game so popular back in the day. hat made the Sims and what made the game so popular and defined it was

      @@TheNinjaNikyyeah but EA is infamously known as one of the greediest gaming companies out there, they’ve been known to cut corners to make a profit and a bunch of other things you’ll find if you use a search engine. the thing is, when the sims originally came out it actually worked and sims had personalities. it was a game that actually had soul put into it rather than the corporate hellscape of sims 4.

    There's more quality of life in here.we got to underwater explore,we got to become werewolves and Fairies we had cars we had a point system to buy extra stuff like a changing table a rocker and stroller...i personally think Sims 3 is better but sims 4 is not bad either but both games have their ups and downs. now if they added Genies,werewolves and Fairies and more nursery items even if it has to be a point system to earn them also add underwater exploration I think if Sims 4
    Had these implemented I think it would make sims 4 better but in my opinion alot of people that play the sims most of em had turn to the Sims 3 because sims 4 is lacking alot of stuff that most if not all of us want in ts4 so I think until Ts4 has the stuff implemented ppl will turn to that more but for now bouncing from TS3 and TS4 is the way to go.i dont know how many or you agree .

    I have a long history with the Sims. I played the first and second game, but when I saw three come out I was so excited that I bought the collector's edition. I also bought World Adventure and for most of my life that is all I had for expansion packs. BECAUSE THE BASE GAME WAS ALREADY FULL OF DEPTH AND FUN TO PLAY. I didn't NEED Expansion packs to make the game fun like the Sims 4. I just recently bought all the expansions and it is such an immersive experience that the Sims 4 can only dream of. I am so disappointed with how they took the sims and made it such a money grabber. Making every single feature in DLC and selling it separately just to make money.... Before we know it, they'll make a Pregnancy or Expecting Child DLC or an Elder pack to enhance that life stage. XD

      The sims 4 is just a sandbox game that looks fan made, and a good copy of the sims1. whit out any characters story lines also on the beginning of was a shocking despondent, and until this day most gamers compre how they wish for things that will never happen and how is lacking so much in the gameplay.
      So the sims 4 is basically a copy of the sims one but upgraded and is also a money eater whit ther packs that make zero sense.
