I *totally* agree with you that The Sims 3 university EP is better than The Sims 4 one! On top of all the great features you've mentioned about The Sims 3 EP, with Twallan's NRAAS Careers mod, you can actually design and build your own homeworld campus! The mod can use either rabbithole rugs that certain modders made or use the rabbithole shells from the EP to be arranged in your homeworld. With the rabbithole rugs, you can design the buildings to look any way you wish, whether high-tech or collegiate or even gothic-looking or from Harry Potter's world for example. @@sinmagi9889 The sims in Sims 4 give me the urge to stomp them flat for some reason XD. For the pack itself, I'm pretty disappointed that my science sim can't do laboratory or have practical sessions & field trips. I also can't get over how empty the campuses look in Sims 4.
I may be wrong, but I believe you can check your progress in The Sims 4 Discover University by emailing your professors. Haven't tried it myself, though. 🤷🏻♀️ I've never played 3, but I was addicted to 2, and now I love 4. LOL
The lack of any indication of your progress in Sims 4 Discover University really puts me off sending my sims to university so I just don't. Sims 3 was definitely better for that and so was definitely the better pack just for that alone.
You can’t beat Sims 3 it just have so much more personality. I mean-we got to check phones AND change our phone cases?? Sims 4 didn’t add that till recently. XXD And the way you can interact, and from what I remember-I think you can even start beef with other groups XD
I was surprised after hearing your opinion. I quite disagree and fancy sims 4 discover university way more. I loved the sims 3 university aspects, such as being able to attend the lectures, the open world university (which is specific to sims 3 in general) and the immersive aspects, but I still find the uni experience immersive in the sims 4. First, what you mentioned about life going on while you're at uni, that is extremely important to me because when I send my young adults to uni, I still want to be able to control the other sims in my households and play with them in their original town, which you can't do in the sims 3. Being able to use students loans, learn from home or literally anywhere (you can chose to move in to a small flat in San Myshuno while still attending uni), you simply have more choices in the Sims 4. The fact that you have so many interesting majors is much more realistic than the 6 degrees you have in the sims 3, and I just love the fact that not all degrees are equal (distinguished and normal). We have so many careers linked to so many majors, it's brillant. You can also chose your optional classes, and I love that, because again more realistic, you don't have to stick to the electives from your degree. Actually earning your degree from uni is harder in the sims 4 because as you mentioned, you need excellent time management skills, things can go wrong for your sims' grades so quickly if they don't manage their time well, and this is like real life uni, and I love that. If you want that A+ average, you really have to work hard for it. I love the different aspect of having grades (term papers, final exams, presentations which you actually take a lot of time to do). I love the Britechester campus as well! The careers in law are a whole grade for me (but that's just my preference, I love a lawyer sim). The parties are more immersive in the sims 3 that is true however, but that doesn't counterbalance all the pros of sims 4 discover university. This is why it is my favourite uni pack !
Honestly, I never played TS3 much. It didn’t work on my PC (well, it did, with a lot of lag and poor graphics - I just couldn’t stand that!) but it looks like it was pretty much the same as TS2, just a slight improvement to include the open world features. Shame you didn’t include TS2 in this, really - I liked the way it was done in TS2 as well. TS4 is just a bit of a slog. There’s no need to be on campus because classes are just places you disappear to. Having it be 3 weeks long was a bad choice - your Sim is usually almost an adult by the time they graduate. It’s way too cheap, so even one scholarship will usually cover you. Also, if your Sim is already in a career they see no benefit. They’d have to quit and change careers to see the boost. Plus there are no degree-only careers, so it really seems pointless to go to university. Even in TS2 there were careers that were restricted to those with degrees; granted, they didn’t make much sense (Art, Paranormal, Natural Science or Show Business) but at least there was a benefit to uni to go along with the additional wants!
The thing that really bugs me about TS4 Uni is there is no way to earn extra trait slots like we could in TS2 and TS3. In addition other uni activities besides academics are really shallow. I enjoyed TS3 Uni game play more than TS4 Uni.
Thank you for this video, I currently playing the sims 3 with various expansion pack and my favorite is University Life expansion pack and I badly want to know how they can gain higher grades and to explore other things to do as university students in sims 3. Also I think Sims 4 university is the best expansion pack in Sims 4,I would buy it if I have enough money, that's seems interesting
I dunno if someone already told you but you can actually check on your grades. you click on the computer and ask your teacher about a class and they will tell you. Through my games i discovered that, even if they say you're pretty good or you did every assignments/homework, you won't get A+ everywhere unless you have a high level of the competence required for this class. (And keep going, love your videos)
I love that in Sims 4 you have more majors to choose from AND that you can study from home. But I feel like Sims 3 University actually benefits you bc in Sims 4 your Sims still age when they study (which is why they immediately start at level 7/8 but tbh this is also really overpowered). What I miss in both games is each world having their own university campus AND university degrees kind off being a necessity for getting promoted or geting into a career at all
I definitely prefer sims 3 Uni over sims 4. Maybe I’m biased because I like the sims 3 more generally, but I just felt more like my sims were actually in Uni whereas sims 4 it just felt like another world to be honest. There just isn’t enough substance for me to justify it. It feels more like something that would’ve been a stuff pack in the sims 3, or something a modded would create in sims 4.
I much prefer Sims 4 for this particular pack, but I will say that I miss how alive university felt in the Sims 3. However, that applies to the Sims 3 in general with the open world.
I know for some its about being realistic but I like the idea of not having to worry about my sims while at college. Plus Sims3 does parties better I have only been invited to a birthday party on the sims4 while in Sims3 university i was invited to parties often. Sims4 is very do it yourself while with Sims3 they allow the sims to do it for you
I like many things about Sims 4 uni over Sims 3, but it is immersion breaking for me that the degrees do not have unique materials and events to them. Also, the non-distinguished degrees and distinguished degrees per uni are the same level of difficulty. That's so unrealistic, it should be easier in a uni that doesn't focus on that field. At least the Sims 3 gave you the unique material needed for each degree, but I don't think we have gotten a truly great uni pack yet in any iteration.
I agree, Sims 3 is just more immersive, but with that said, I still prefer Sims 2 University, because it is just more fleshed out than that of the 3. I cracked up when you mentioned the new state, "Plant Sim," because I was truly confused why they were added in this expansion. I love gardening, and even though it seems out of place, herbs were introduced too (cool, but why a University pack?). I do not mind that the aging is turned off outside in Sims 3, but do wish that they could still visit home or have family members visit, as they could in Sims 2. As for realism, not one of the Sims series was similar to my own uni experience. Curious if anyone else can actually enlighten me if they had any similar experiences at uni?
It's because University is where a lot of people try the *other* herb for the first time. Each herb giving a special quality to dishes they're used in is a big nod to that. With the plant sims, ingest enough of that other herb and I imagine you'd feel so one with nature that you'd turn into a plant. 😂
i do love the sims 3 university life, but one issue I have with it is the amount of parties are just a bit too much, not to mention my sim would arrive at the party only for her to be unable to enter because the host wasn't even home! There would also be many "pool" parties and not even a pool on the lot, which was mind-boggling. But yeah, sims 3 parties just happened so often, and the sims living in the hosting home often had low needs they couldn't fill because of all the other sims in the way. once my sim had a hot guy making eyes at her at a party, when he suddenly died of starvation. It was really disappointing to say the least, as he was probably the hottest guy at uni. lol.
i’m gonna give it to the sims 3. as it always does, it wins! the sims 4 uni takes so long, and all you do is study (if you want to actually pass) the sims 3 uni is just way better!
My sims in sims 3 university life love to attend keg parties yet luckily they have an average grades yet they weren't able to graduate because of sims 3 bugs, the game always shut down immediately
I'll be honest. I know everyone likes The Sims 3 more when it comes to well everything, but I actually prefer The Sims 4 Discover University. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but please hear me out. I only got to play The Sims 3 on the Xbox console when I was little and The Sims 3 Pets came to console in a separate game. And I never did get to experience Expansion packs proper in the Sims Franchise until I got the Sims 4 on console. And ever since I was hooked on them along with Game Packs and even Stuff Packs. And even though I'm not crazy about kits much like everyone else, there were quite a few that appealed to me.q I certainly do think that The Sims 3 University Life has a lot going for it, especially the fact that you can actually attend classes, but I prefer The Sims 4 Discover University. Especially when it actually goes well with other packs like The latest one High School Years.
i haven't played discover university in a while but i remember my sim going to university for cooking and she built more cooking skill through her job than she did at university. and then, because she was already in the career, it didn't give her a boost in her job at all. i had another sim go for writing and leave university with barely any writing skill, or other skills for that matter. i think the sims 2 did this the best because even though it was reaaaally difficult gameplay wise, university seemed so much more realistic and rewarding for your sims.
Ookay... here I am to defend sims 4 lol, please, don't get anything I say in rude way, It's just my opinion 😁😁 I think that sims 3 as a whole is a game that works better on paper than it actually works, but it doesn't always apply, but when we talk about universities... I honestly hated universities in sims 3, I mean, you can tell me that if you consider how things ARE SUPPOSED to happen I'll agree it WOULD be good, but as I said... it's good on paper, but, what really happens is... first things first, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get an A in any major withot cheats, or without having to sacrifice all the fun part in going to universities (everything that isn't related to class, aka: parties). and even not doing anything but study, you'll need cheats to keep your needs high in order to actually keep studying enough for an A as a final grade of the major, ALWAYS you do something not related to study (like bathe, or take shower or SLEEP AND EAT) that green thingy starts to slowly go down... IT DRIVES ME CRAZY 😂😂😂 I laugh now, but when I'm playing it's annoying I get like: "WHAT YOU WANT FROM ME GAAAME!!!" 🤣🤣 Other thing is the social groups, again, good on paper, but, how come you can join a university social group without even have attended university in your life?! It is cool you're able to have a trait if you reach certain level, that's nice, brings more meaning for the whole thing, but you can get a new trait as if you were at an university social group if you are a sim who plays a lot of videogame to boost the fun need faster, I don't think that even makes sense, c'mon, you not even attended university. Also I really think one of the coolest things about universities are the secret societies, and I never got why sims 3 doesn't have any secret societies... seriously... WHY?!? It is such a cool feature!! But to be fair I really think sims 3's plant sims are THE BEST EVER MADE in the whole franchise, and, since they came with universities (which I fully agree is weird, it would make more sense if it was in seasons, aliens could be in ambitions and Simbots in Universities, would make more sense for me, but... ok lol). Moving on, I couldn't comment why I don't really like sims 3 universities without saying this last thing... how buggy it is to go to class right, you leave ONE HOUR AND HALF before the class starts... but once you get there you get stuck with 8 sims in the front door, waiting for them to enter the building one by one aaand you're late 🤦🏻♂️ and the same happens in your graduation cerimony you can't enter the building and when you finally do, you leave right after, because it finished, and you don't officially graduate, you don't get new trait and all you can do is close the game without saving and hope it works next time 🤦🏻♂️ but well... all sims games had bugs, I only get sad 'cause this is kinda big and wasn't ever fixed
Umm... But isn't that how you get an A in real life? Nerds and the ones who spend more time studying always gets an A compared with people who choose parties and "wasting" time (in this case).
@@themerovingian7154 True, but who gets A in real life spends more time studying than going to parties, not all the time you know? Passing more time studying doesn't mean they don't do other stuff, if not going to parties, playing games, having time for themselves, while in the game, taking a shower does their grade slowly go down, sleeping does it, even when your sim is walking from the classes back to the home lot that happens, that's what I meant you know
I find your assertion that it's impossible to get an A without cheats a bit confusing. Yes, the green bar goes down when you're doing things other than studying, but it doesn't go down that fast. I just top it off every day with a bit of studying, and still have time to play some video games, socialize, go for a long walk, or go to a party (depending on what type of sim I'm playing). The only sim I ever had who got below an A (she got a C) I was actually purposefully neglecting her studies because she was made to be a party animal! I will say, though, that I find it . . . amusing . . . that you can up your grades doing things like graffiti (if you're in the arts major) or socializing (if you're in the business major) at parties! As for the secret societies, I honestly don't get them - are they a thing at many universities irl? My uni didn't have them (or fraternities or sororities for that matter), and when I saw reviews of the Sims 4 pack, they honestly looked really creepy. Glad you find them fun though!
I like the sims 4 discover university you can doing more but I also like sims 3 university I like both of the sims college life my sims don’t like party that much they love education more to get a best jobs & both different games.
This was a really well done review. Good job. Too bad the sims 3 had terrible graphics in means of cas. Honestly they should have just copied a lot of what they did in the sims 3 but make it with better graphics.
I never really played sims 3, i started with sims 1 and sims 2 for many years, then i did a huge break, because of real live situation. 10 years later i started again with sims 4, sims 3 looks full of live, the colors the people, the details are full of live. Sims 4 looks so boring to me. Thats sad, because like how the sims look, in sims 4, but the Gameplay is very lifeless and boring.
I already know sims 3 University a life is better than Sims 4 because you had time to explore and do what you want, but the Sims 4 is to realistic and doesn’t give your sim a chance to do anything fun.
I've never actually played TS4 Uni, I was kinda disappointed in TS3 Uni. Yeah it went by quick, but I didn't feel like I did anything worth it. I much prefer TS2 Uni. Yes, it takes a while, but it's so much fun with living in a dorm and being able to control the entire household. You also feel like you actually did something when your sim graduated.
ts4 uni gave us a freaking real life uni experience that everyone was asking for yet people are still complaining for the smallest things smh.... at that point i think you're all on a wagon hate cause it's in fashion...

You are so right. Sims 3wins hands down
I may be wrong, but I believe you can check your progress in The Sims 4 Discover University by emailing your professors.
You have to email or call your professor to know ☺️☺️
15:37 you can email professors about how you’re doing in the class, they give a pretty simple answer
I think your game may have been glitched. The Sims 4 University does have a rabbit hole graduation. They go in and come out with a photo and a degree.
You can’t beat Sims 3 it just have so much more personality. I mean-we got to check phones AND change our phone cases?? Sims 4 didn’t add that till recently. XXD And the way you can interact, and from what I remember-I think you can even start beef with other groups XD
In my opinion, Sims 4 University DLC is more extensive but ironically Sims 3 University actually gives vibes of an university life
Sims 3 University is so much betterrrrr
Good point!!!
Me too ☺️☺️
Honestly, I never played TS3 much.
So for some reason I thought I was clicking on a fake gamer girl video, so I was taken aback by the non-chaotic energy xD
Lol same tho
Oof
Thank you for this video, I currently playing the sims 3 with various expansion pack and my favorite is University Life expansion pack and I badly want to know how they can gain higher grades and to explore other things to do as university students in sims 3.
Also I think Sims 4 university is the best expansion pack in Sims 4,I would buy it if I have enough money, that's seems interesting
Im watching this video while playing sims 3 and making my Sim study, when I should be studying myself
What I miss in both games is each world having their own university campus AND university degrees kind off being a necessity for getting promoted or geting into a career at all
I choose sims 3 university life over the sims 4 university anyday.
One thing I hate about sims 4 university is the npc's that pop up the only npc's are are elders 🤣
In TS4 you can check your progress by calling your professors or emailing them. I'm sure someone mentioned this already lol
I much prefer Sims 4 for this particular pack, but I will say that I miss how alive university felt in the Sims 3. However, that applies to the Sims 3 in general with the open world.
I think sims 4 has also much nice packs but to cant be used to not open wordl :( wait for sims 5!
I know for some its about being realistic but I like the idea of not having to worry about my sims while at college. Plus Sims3 does parties better I have only been invited to a birthday party on the sims4 while in Sims3 university i was invited to parties often. Sims4 is very do it yourself while with Sims3 they allow the sims to do it for you
in that time partying and basically not doing school was what college was, the sims 4 wasn’t so i think it’s just an era thing
Did you just call a clique a 'click'? That's it, we're revoking your accent!
Great video!
3 Uni was superior and it's not even close.
@@lunacouer Also as an experiment with the science degree you get to create a plant sim genetically modifying a fruit
i do love the sims 3 university life, but one issue I have with it is the amount of parties are just a bit too much, not to mention my sim would arrive at the party only for her to be unable to enter because the host wasn't even home! It was really disappointing to say the least, as he was probably the hottest guy at uni. lol.
in sims 4 you can check progress by emailing your professors. but the answers they give are a little vague.
i’m gonna give it to the sims 3. as it always does, it wins! the sims 4 uni takes so long, and all you do is study (if you want to actually pass) the sims 3 uni is just way better!
It has potential but I agree, you have to spend way too long in university it eats up so much time
My sims in sims 3 university life love to attend keg parties yet luckily they have an average grades yet they weren't able to graduate because of sims 3 bugs, the game always shut down immediately
I remember Sims 3 University being really good. But 4 seems to be even better, I play it x it all Liz the time now.
The line where you say “stand outside, wear robes, and sing to rocks - so, pretty epic”
they all then *glitched*
Sums up The Sims 4 if you ask me
i haven't played discover university in a while but i remember my sim going to university for cooking and she built more cooking skill through her job than she did at university. and then, because she was already in the career, it didn't give her a boost in her job at all.
i had another sim go for writing and leave university with barely any writing skill, or other skills for that matter. i think the sims 2 did this the best because even though it was reaaaally difficult gameplay wise, university seemed so much more realistic and rewarding for your sims.
Sims 3 hands down... I love the gameplay in sims 3... I loved the socials... rebels and nerds and jocks.... like... amazing... 😅😂❤ wish sims 4 had it.
I feel like I didn't play sims 3 enough and I've robbed myself from knowing so much lol
Ookay... here I am to defend sims 4 lol, please, don't get anything I say in rude way, It's just my opinion 😁😁
I think that sims 3 as a whole is a game that works better on paper than it actually works, but it doesn't always apply, but when we talk about universities...
@@themerovingian7154
True, but who gets A in real life spends more time studying than going to parties, not all the time you know?
The music is Logan you Are mye hero you mean the World to me i just hear that 😂
The sims 3 is better, I can delete the entire free dorm, and build my own house, leaving everyone else to rot
I love your videos!!!!
This was a really well done review. Good job. Too bad the sims 3 had terrible graphics in means of cas. Honestly they should have just copied a lot of what they did in the sims 3 but make it with better graphics.
played both, i think sims 4 version is better but still needs to be improved in terms of majors and careers!
sims3 was far better game compared to sims 4 tho...
I would choose Sims 4 University vs Sims 3 University because more career options in the Sims 4 after college, which makes things much more realistic
I haven't got either pack, but are the robots from TS4 comparable to the ones from TS3's 'into the future" ?
When you realize its been “Whiny Brit” and not “Whitny Brit”
Hahaha
I really love the sims 4 uni bettter. But that’s the only time sims 4 wins. The sims 3 is far superior in other expansions/base game
The Sims 3 university life shits all over TS4 Discover University
Sims 2
I am sad. No Llama? No Cow? Sims 4, what are you doing?
🤬I get turned on when playing this game.
ts4 uni gave us a freaking real life uni experience that everyone was asking for yet people are still complaining for the smallest things smh.... at that point i think you're all on a wagon hate cause it's in fashion...
