⭐ Cookie dough (I used the mix from my cookie decorating kit)
⭐ Star cookie cutter, round cookie cutter, hexagon cookie cutter
⭐ Flood consistency royal icing in white, pink, teal, purple, and blue.
⭐ Icing bags, couplers, and tip 3
    ⭐ Two-in-one tool
⭐ Glass measuring cup or similar container for pouring marbled icing
    ⭐ Parchment-lined baking sheet
    ⭐ Cooling grid
    Instructions
    1. Prepare the royal icing according to the instructions on the package.
    2. Add water to thin the icing to flood consistency.
    3. Separate the icing into smaller containers and add color.
    4. Place the icing into decorating bags fitted with number 3 tips.
    5. To make the starburst design, ice a round cookie with concentric circles in different colors.
    6. Use the two-in-one tool to drag the icing from the center out, then from the outside toward the center.
    7. To make the flower, ice the outside of the cookie in any color and ice a smaller circle inside in a different color.
    8. Use the two-in-one tool to drag the icing from the outside toward the center, creating petals.
    9. Pipe two more layers of a smaller color inside the petals and drag the two-in-one tool through the petals starting from the center and moving out toward the edge of the cookie.
    10. To make the hearts, ice a round cookie in any color.
    11. Pipe dots with a different color and drag the two-in-one tool through each dot to create a heart shape (make sure to wipe the icing off of the tool in between each heart).
    12. To make the galaxy star, ice the cookie with blue, pink, purple, and white icing.
    13. Use the two-in-one tool to swirl the colors together.
    14. Pipe two dots with the white icing and use the two-in-one tool to drag the icing to 8 points (make sure to wipe the icing off of the tool in between each point of the star).
    15. Pipe smaller white dots all over the surface of the icing.
    16. Empty the leftover icing into a measuring cup or any small container.
    17. Place the cookies on a cooling grid over a parchment-lined tray.
    18. Gently stir the icing, but make sure to not blend the colors too much.
    19. Pour the icing over the cookies.
    20. Move the cookies to a clean sheet of parchment to dry.

    Fun and helpful tip:
*if you watch closely* as she is applying the icing to the cookies, you can see that she is not bending her wrist. She is instead using her shoulder to do so. This removes both wrist strain, and actually *helps* to make that perfect circle. Why is this?
Because if you know your types of joints, you know your wrist is a hinge joint, and you shoulder is your ball joint. Your shoulder is capable of nearly full and free motion, while your wrist technically cannot do all these motions healthily.
So when you draw or even ice a cookie like her and need to make a circle, keep your wrist and elbow solid (not tight) while only moving your arm at the shoulder in the shape you require. Happy decorating!!💖

A recommendation that it’s easier to add less water/food coloring at first than to fix adding too much ! I learned the hard way.

Making those circles reminds me of when Buffy the Vampire Slayer makes a perfect circle on the whiteboard and no one knows how to handle it.

hi I am a beginner and I have a question, royal icing smalls and tastes not really good what we can use instead

    • @Jaqhnun
      @Jaqhnun 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

royal icing is really the way to go for this kind of decorating-- it's easy to adjust the consistency for piping, and it dries smooth and hard, unlike other types of icing that have to be spread with a spatula, or poured, or stay soft instead of hardening. You can use buttercream or any other kind of icing if you want a different flavor, but the look won't be the same and the techniques in this video might not work. If you don't like how plain royal icing tastes, you could try adding a few drops of vanilla extract or a small amount of lemon juice.

Besides which you shouldn’t have a thick layer of icing. The royal should be a thin, crisp layer of sweetness, not a wodge of sugar

For me the decorating is the easy bit. The cookie making rarely turns out well, they always spread.... aaargh

    • @Jaqhnun
      @Jaqhnun 4 ปีที่แล้ว

chilling the cut-out cookies for at least a half-hour before baking will keep them from spreading! Also, certain kinds of cookies spread more than others. Shortbread is my go-to recipe for decorated cookie baking, because it holds shapes well and bakes hard without being too crumbly.
