It always made me wonder what commuter duty did to those diesel locos from a maintenance point of view. It's very different use patterns to long and short haul goods.
I grew up in Cairns Street, Cairns (right opposite the line to the tablelands) in the 70's and remember the 2000 series railmotors as well as dark blue railmotors (1800 Series I think) as well as the DH locomotives and some old English Electric locos as well - we used to travel to Brisbane on the Sunlander to Roma St., the on the Brisbane Limited from South Brisbane to Sydney then on to Melbourne on the Southern Aurora or Spirit pf Progress...Halcyon Days of rail travel...
Really was a mixed bag in this era, electric trains, silver rail motors and those fabulous old brown carriages pulled by the blue QR locos.
Thanks for posting these historic train movements, the old Roma St station , Evans sets and goods wagons✌️

Done that trip several times myself. Off one train, grab a cab to the other station and then sit around waiting for the other to show up.
Yep thanks for sharing wonderful memories 😮😊
Can’t be very long before the towers were built. What’s this 1982 maybe?
Superb.
