I follow your Quartering channel. Did not now you were into RC cars. I love this! I have a few old school Losi's, Tamiya, Kyosho and Associated in my collection, from my childhood. Do not actively ride anymore though, as I took interest in classic cars in my 20's and have stuck to that aver since.
I had no idea you did RC as well. Damn glad to see it. Been bashing the heck outta mine for the past couple weeks. 14 packs through it. 10000 mAh 120c Zeee. Great run times. Still on stock gearing.. I can not deny I do love my Arrma. Honestly, I love the EXB RTR version. I'm already saving my pennies for the Outcast.
I know you said the setup wasn't completely done and you mentioned the sound but I didn't really care for the little reverb BUT the lightning setup really needs some love. Thank you, great content.
I used to be big into R/C cars, though I gravitated towards the nitro end of things. I did have a couple of electric cars as well, but that was back when NiMH based cells were the undisputed king of the hill and Lithium based cells were just starting to dangle their toes in the water. I friggin loved sitting down in the evening, tweaking motors and farting around with suspension. There was an R/C store fairly close to me at the time that was dedicated almost entirely to the car and truck end of things. It was basically a given that he would have an OEM replacement for any part you might break, as well as metric butt-ton of aftermarket and performance bits. On the rare occasions he didn't have what you needed on hand, he would get it into your hands in a day or two. He also had a huge indoor road and dirt track setup that absorbed a good 1/2 to 2/3 of the of the square footage of the warehouse the store was based in. Had many a 20 spot race there over the years. Sometimes I'd go home with my wallet a little heavier, other times not so much. Lol... Fortunately, he and his store are still alive and kicking. Only now he's in a new and considerably larger building just a couple of miles up the road from me. I should stop by there sometime soon and see how this new place is. I have half a mind to go dig out my old Nitro MT and get her up and running again after watching this video, lol...
Wow I wish I had a store and track like that growing up. I remember seeing a nitro in a box in a hobby model store that was easily 10-20x more than I had to spend but darn I would have loved to have gotten more into it, battery or nitro would have been fine for me haha. Had more than enough time to sit and tinker just not the funds at the time. I should probably look back into it.
@@cjones7424 we had at sick track at the RC shop I worked at. Now we have another one in our area too. It’s badass. If you have the disposable income it’s definitely a super fun hobby. Just don’t get into racing! Unless you wanna buy 10 kits and spend 1000’s lol.
@@BrandonGavin_EDC I had to settle for a Tamiya at the time in the end, not remote control at all. Raced that in storm drains and gutters as a race track, upgraded the electric motor, gears and tyres slowly with a few bucks here and there. Never to late to start for sure. I'd like a kit I could build, that would be enjoyable. I moved from that into electronics and then cars. But I'm not gonna fling my car around a corner probably going way too fast haha. RC would be fun to look into
This chanell is back! Yes. One of my TH-cam sources for rc content, way back in the earlier brushless days! Thanks for coming back with more rc content 👍
I’d say get them a Traxxas Stampede or something. Maybe a slash if they like that style better. Stick with brushed/Ni-Mi batteries until they get older. Then you can throw in the Brushless combo motor/ESC and Lipo batteries. You can upgrade the car over the years with better parts. It’s a blast. Even with brushed motors they still go around 25-30 MPH.
Very good review and the car you have there is a real solid robust piece of kit . Mate I'm sharing this to someone I know who has had 2 very similar cars.
Hi "Coffee Boy" 😃. I followed the link from The Quartering. I also like r/c models. My first was the Tamiya Hot Shot back in 1985, the first year they were produced. I was 14 & it took me 5 days to put it together, then 2 more days to get it to work. I played with it until I could no longer get parts for it. At age 41, I built the re-release Hot Shot kit. I opened that kit after breakfast & had it fully assembled & running before dinner. I still have them both.
Thank you for being one of the first reviewers on here willing to point that out! A vehicle that doesn’t include some type of battery for the car or radio technically is not RTR. Paying $1000 for a car, then having to spend another $400-$500 on batteries and a charger is not RTR.
That thing is a beast! Knowing that Horizon owns them now and that the truck you just reviewed was so good, it’s gonna be worth it. 1/5th scale for $1000 isn’t that bad. I can tell already just with the body off it’s worth the money.
Dude iv been watching you’re other Channel for years and had no Idea you were an RC guy. My Brother is going to love this channel he has an RC rental and sales Shop that he just started.
Get ready to replace the motor and ESC. Arma/Spectrum ESC's are honestly terrible unfortunately. Both my Limitless and my Mojave were a major let down. Id also more compare the Kraton to the XRT now that those are out
This is exactly what I needed / need now that I can finally take my mind off politics for a bit.. I desperately need a break from 24/7 politics - over the last 2 years.. Thanks for this Jeremy 😎🤘🏻
I do find it kinda funny that jeremy puts his hobby on youtube. He just cant enjoy it unless its on video. More power to you bro. Glad to see ya back on the ol’ rc horse
I wish this did come in a kit. It would be cheaper and I would be way more likely to get one. I have one come without electronics (for those who already have spare parts), with electronics, and RTR. I already have tools and knowledge to built it, but not $1k to just buy one.
I see you have the same problem as me It doesn't matter how much you fill a room with stuff and things there's always an echo. This is awesome by the way keep it up.
Traxxas has heard for years and years how bad that 2075 is and they have never done anything about it. Mine went on my Xmaxx after 6 runs between a turf soccer field and a grass football field. Never jumped it once. Arrma at least listens to their Customers and does stuff about the things that aren’t working.
I was out of the hobby for a few years but got back into it. I had a lot of catching up to do! ARRMA is the big Traxxas competitor now and has an excellent lineup of RCs; guess you got a taste of their good stuff several years ago with the Senton 6S. This new Kraton 8S is a great model to get restarted on your channel since it is nicely upgraded compared to the prior RTR. Anyway, welcome back to RC.
Shit for good batteries and a good charger for that beast you would be at $350-$400 easy. 2 4S batteries with a decent discharge rate will be $150 a piece for a good quality Venom one.
I thought an antique toy like that is worth more money if you don't take it out of the box. I mean, you really aren't going out to actually play with it in public, right?
$100 for the Spektrum smart batteries (needed for telemetry) and a Spektrum charger? Too funny. A 200 watt dual charger is $240-ish. The 5000 4S smarts are $110-ish each, and you need two. I use two Spektrum 5000 4S smart batts in my Traxxas XRT since I had them already for my 4S powered Jetstream boat. The boat was my first surface RC model since the 80's. The Kraton 8S or a Traxxas XRT both seem nice trucks. With mild jumping, and a lot of sliding, the XRT has broke nothing in 5 months of use. The big models are easier to see with my aged eyes.
I disagree the slogan it's dope,Don't just bash just blast ,,, means full trigger send it with style, aka mix it up, and Traxxas never sold battery and charger in the package, they all sell separately , and quote you said a lot of metal, you mean aluminium, definitely to much nit picking, honestly why did u buy it,the truck is gem.
1000$ for an rc truck? I can get a shimano metanium mgl 150 and a st croix legend extreme for that . I guess size matters and this box dwarves Jeremy..
I don't see how he can say he doesn't consider it 5th scale, but more like 6th or 7th. That thing is huge.
Dude seems like a moron, there is NO way this is NOT a 5th scale...I changed videos halfway through the video...he dumb
