Dont like seeing those boat in the water. They are not ment to be used. Even if they are the safest boats with extreme reliable motor.. It is some i dont do. I will not enter a ship or boat that has been under water. And never to use lifeboats for other than practise or emergensy. Ive spent enough time on water. You could say i do not eneter a boat unless it is for transporting me from a to b. Best regards from Norway.
My friend bought an old retired life boat. He converted it to a fishing boat. He would go out for weeks at a time. The only problem you could never be in a hurry. It only did 6knots.
I'm claustrophobic so watching this gave me chills. I went aboard an old WWII submarine exhibit and was shaky as hell couldn't imagine those sailors out on those things for months.
I recall touring a Canadian Oboat when I was a teeny bopper. It had the same cheesy 'destroyer escort' smell but with more diesel perfume. It definitely had a cramped WWII U boat vibe. Brit diesel electric subs were always smaller than their American cousins. We had one of those too on the West coast.
Back in ' 93 managed to get inside one of those Australian submarines on dock on Navy day. And yes, I had the same feeling that I wanna get out in a hurry.
Add to the claustrophobia a mix of vomit, sweat and human excrement after a few days being tossed around in a North Atlantic storm. Not to mention being confined with someone you can’t abide. Death would become an attractive option.
I liked the music. I don't know if I'd like being stuffed into something with no air circulation, 40 human beings, that's going to be rolling and pitching like a cork.
In the harbor near my house like for 20 years there has been one of these lifeboats in the water, and ive wondered how is the things inside, now i know thxs
My God can you imagine how rapidly the seasickness would spread in those close, tight quarters and nowhere for the smell or the puke to go... my idea of Hell right there! I'll take my chances on dry land cheers lads.
We had something similar when I worked offshore on Piper Alpha. One Christmas the rotten sods took it out to meet the 24/7 emergency patrol boat near the platform with a bin bag full of crap, and the other crew eagerly filled a bag with proper goodies to hand over in exchange.
Interesting. I kept wondering, though, about provision for the “call of nature”. A full boat, there’s going to be some pooping going on. I wonder if those holes in the seats where rations are stored are meant for this purpose.
remove the toggle pin attacht on your steering wheel it is dangerous during rough seas,do not rely on your water supply have extra 4 container of fresh water and renew it monthly coz i already experience abandonship in indian ocean
Steers real nice, but the enclosed sides act like a sail and you need to adjust for a side wind. Great when you're going thru oil burning on top of the water. Two thumbs up.
These seat sbout 60 people. Its called a TELB. totally enclosed life boat. Holds up to 1000 gallons diesel fuel. Only travels 7 knots (8mph) when loaded i think Wouldnt want to have to try one out
not really. you don't have enough fuel to actually get somewhere further away. it's meant to be for emergencies or stabilising the boat during a storm.
I would like an electric catamaran that was designed to survive storms and be able to remain airtight if submerged by a huge wave or flip without sinking.
The raw-water engine driven pump has flexible rubber impeller blades. If you run them dry, the rubber blades will get damaged if left to run any length of time. Not less than 3 minutes assumes the impeller is passing water. Its enough time for the alternator to put some charge into the batteries.

Wow, very interesting. I'd never seen one of these from the inside
Good music choice.

Where did he get it?
@@arthurmead5341 there's 3 for sale in North Alabama for 1800ea or 4500 for all. 50hp diesel engines too!
What type of lifeboat
Replace the motor with a faster one. Although 6 knots is still technically faster than your swimming.

A lifeboat like that could be cool to convert into a nice little comfy living space at sea.

I am also. Watching this made me wonder where the windows were and how to get fresh air. I couldn’t take long on board.

With that awful music I would had jumped overboard after five minutes.
More space for others :)
@@LifeAtSea ,
Haha. And considering the jam-packed conditions there's plenty of people to help the whiners overboard.

I've seen where some have turned these into rather nice liveaboard cruising pleasure boats, put in large windows, and opened parts of the deck.
i kinda want to get one and make it into a tiny rv
Hope we never need to use these
yeah im sure railroads dont need lifeboats
Tell that to the Pepole on the titanic
10 minute air supply 🤣

Thanks for watching!
@ The Sea Lad 150 people capacity ,am I right ?
ONE KAREN would ruin it; but everyone can diplomatically drop overboard.

Has it been abandoned?
Всегда хотел увидеть что там внутри...Интересное видео!С меня лайк.
Water and food rations are stored in the toilet...! Talk about recycling...!
OMG - we need help! Send up the parachute flares! What! What! They are wet! Who didn’t screw the lid on?!?!?

This is a bit late but they have special tablets to help keep seasickness at bay for about 48 hours.
So go to the bottom, see if we care. Your choice.
@@jakub_pie4940 those tablets are not going to make u 100% ok. U will maybe even puke after taking the tavlets
Isn't saying "dry land" like "wet water"?
It is not designed to travel in comfort. This is designed so that you don’t actually end up in Hell in the event of a catastrophe.
Heck I could live in there with some remodelling.

My cousin was on the destroyer that rescued him along with driving the RHIB out to get him
So how was the emergency ration?
Tasted like seven oceans…
Tastes like shortbread

Also curious about that.
I hope to god they remove the rations beforehand!!
You'll be surrounded by the world's biggest toilet bowl.
Do you really want to stink up such a confined space?!
@@trueaussie9230 there are many times you won't be able to go out. best hope is that it's easy to empty a bucket over the side.
How big is this one that your showing??? I’m buying one similar but the I’m getting looks a lot bigger hopefully
A great answer you got

THAT IS A AWESOME LIFEBOAT
Best recommendation ever! 🔥🔥🔥

I feel safe When riding a boat now thx!
Fool, most lifeboats in real world situations can't be launched. Ships are designed with the idea they probably won't need the lifeboats.
I'd like to pull one of these things into the Northwoods and live in it full time.
Thank you so much my ciptin 🌹

Good point!
Just curious what the “air supply” and air cylinders are used for?
Tanker versions include a compressed air supply to pressurise the lifeboat for a minimum of 10 minutes to prevent the ingress of smoke
@@LifeAtSea ah. Thank you for the explanation.

no toilet?
It's called "The Sea"

Anyone notice the big ass orange oars overhead and oar locks in the doorways. Stroke Stoke Stroke ....
I’m definitely going to volunteer to drive…
I like seven ocean food ration..good emergency ration supply..i can stand for one day with one bar of the ration.
I also tried once and cookies are not bad, they make you full fast.

It would probably be better than the alternative (feeding the fishes)?
Super cool, video I had no idea what these boats looked like inside,
Is the engine gas or diesel what size what make?
It is diesel engine BUKH DV29 RME - BUKH 24-75HP
so thats how a lifeboat looks like from the inside
Thanks for the tour!
Thank you for watching :)
Nice, but it needs a couple of dry electric toilets.
What about the sea
How long can a group potentially survive in these life boats before being rescued?
30 days
Each seat has a toilet ?
What happens if you can’t get it started when there’s an emergency
You have 2 batteries to start the engine. And you have manual start.
whare is the fishing rod so if the passengers and crew get hungry they need to catch some fish?
Good question, you have fishing gear as requirement.
Very cool and interesting. I also like the music
Glad you enjoyed it
Haha whoever landed the provision bucket seat is now the captain!
I'm surprised there's no radio. What is the air supply for?
You should bring the portable VHF radio from bridge. Air Supply can be used in case of fire on board, once you get inside lifeboat you got fresh air.
Camera man left all the covers to the emergency supplies open. Moisture gets in and ruins the parachute flares, food rations and engine.
It’s not the destination, it’s the voyage! 😁
Bonus: You have yourself a Extinction Level Event Lifeboat. Call it “ELE Lovenest”.
Now I want to be on a sinking cruise ship just to go on one of these.
I've no interest in boats, sailing or the ocean in general, but I've a strange desire to be set adrift in one of these.
They should setup with fishing rod also just incase SAR took some times....
Fishing gear always stby
GOD is in control amen!!! Hallelujah praise GOD!!

How much for a surplus one? There have to be some good deals with covid
Covid would probably push the price up. Everyone wants to be isolated.

My husband said he’d rather go down with the ship then get in one of these packed with sweaty people like sardines. He is so claustrophobic.
2:00 when you test engine, run it for not less than 3 minutes.. SOLAS Chapter III
You cant run it for 3 minutes, it uses sea water for cooling.

In case of fire during abandoning, you have clean air inside the lifeboat
I wonder if there's a big Jolt when it gets deployed into the water
Do these have some kind of electronic communication like a sat phone or vhf and is it possible to make it to land with these?
