I'd swear I saw a brief smile on the boat, when the tape came off the bow.
When manufacturers and suppliers reach out to you, they put trust in your ability to represent them. That says a lot. We are so proud of you both.
Aladino needs urgently a holiday in Switzerland 🇨🇭 to reset his English...starts to sound like a little Canadian 😂
What do you mean? Ah 😁
Good choice on the CopperCoat. I applied CC on my previous boat and it lasted 12 years and saved having to haul out all of those twelve years. I have also used it on my recent build and am very happy with the results. Application is a bit fiddy but well worth the trouble. The boat is looking beautiful - well done.
WOW - how good she looks. Can't wait to see her floating. Well done Maya, well done Aladino.
You guys hare Masters, creating a Masterpiece! Its been a long hard road, but there is no stopping now. Your new life awaits you, and we get to go with you, how lucky are we!!!
How satisfying to see that tape come off with fresh lines…looks great! 🇨🇦 ❤
We are now on our third boat where we have had Coppercoat. It is a superior product. But, as you say it must be applied correctly. The only time we have had an issue was when SV Impavidus had the Copper coat applied by a 3rd party and they did it wrong in the keel area. We have just recoated SV impavidus after 9 years, already Coppercoat is proving just how good it is. Check out our Coppercoat videos. This product gets some bad press but only from those that do not apply it correctly. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid
I NOTICED NOW THAT SPLASH TIME IS GETTING CLOSER THE TWO OF YOU ARE LAUGHING AND SMILING MORE AND MORE , GREAT TO SEE, HOPE WHEN IM DONE WITH MY BOAT I SEE YOU GUYS OUT THERE SOME DAY ! ROOTING FOR YOU BOTH
She looks so so good with the coppercoat. What a great thing for you to have the support of CMP. That's a very spiffy looking anchor.
I have binge watched all your videos from the dinghy build and finally caught up to this video. I love the channel for so many reasons, some of them being your connection to Sweden (my home country), Aladinos perfectionism (even though he doesn’t like to call it that 😄, and Im completely the same in my approach to things), and Mayas sense of artistic expression, filmography and music choices for the videos. The channel inspires me even more to keep improving and reworking my own little IF sailing boat. Keep up the great work and Im looking forward to see the Magic Carpet in the water soon and all the adventures you will have 🙌🏻
This is the best filming and narration of applying Coppercoat that I have seen. Thanks as usual for an excellent video.
The Copper coat looks Great ! Good job crew ...excellent video !
I learned a lot about Copppercoat in this episode. Thanks for that.
Hi guys, all right? For your magnificent Cape George 36, only the best ... (... starting with you ...) Now also the CopperCoat! I had it on an American boat purchased used years ago, the antifouling was already 6 years old and it lasted again 5 and I sold it that was still in excellent condition and effective. I then bought a Hallberg Rassy who also had CopperCoat, perfect. Years and years without thoughts and no expense, it is possible to clean at sea with an abrasive sponge without ruining the surface, Coppercoat is simply ingenious. One of the best product in 50 years of boating. An excellent choice boys, as for everything else. Fair winds
I love the Copper Coat. So classy, very Cutty Sark.
I love watching to see Brocks name one up😊
I cant imagine the two of you doing anything less than finicky work. Love the look of your boat!
This is all so exciting. Well done guys very proud of you 🎉
The boat is really looking great now and all the hard work you have put in is clearly showing the results. I started following you on Magic Carpet as you sailed through Europe and I'm still here and looking forward to seeing you launch your new boat ❤❤👍👍🇳🇿
This boat of yours is stunning!
She is looking so beautiful, you have both done an amazing job bringing her back to life..... can't wait for the launch
I've been ingtrigued with Coppercoat for awhile now. It seems like their success lies in helping us get good information about the application process to ensure longevity. I'd even try three painters and one mixer, maybe. I'd have to agree that sanding could be a nail-biter but if the car people can Cut And Buff expensive automotive paint without burning through, then these guys will probably do just fine⛵
She's looking beautiful. Great work/product on the bottom paint. Thanks for the video.
Looking darn Spiffy!
Looking forward to the launch!⛵️⛵️⛵️
Good to see you using Coppercoat! Aladino's experience of working carefully and to a very high standard, are even more evident in a tricky task like this. I considered Coppercoat over a decade ago but my short season sailing didn't justify it. I would probably prefer to have shiny boat, bare fibreglass, but that is not possible and I like a good mooring. It seems to have served others very well, and saved on many haul outs. MCII sure has a a shiny bottom now! Well done to your friend and Aladino for a demanding day's work.
Such an amazing project by two amazing people. Great video, great editing as always, and thanks for all the details! You two rock.
The boat looks amazing. It's really coming together. You guys are great! Can't wait until it's in the water.
I'm smiling watching the end of the vid and your knees look like they're good for anti fouling for at least awhile. You also look so much happier that at some other points in the refit and I'm glad for that.
Can't wait to see you out sailing again
Coppercoat was one of the best boat decisions I ever made. You two will love it for sure. We’re now on year 10 in Scandinavia with it and I’m pretty confident it’ll last another decade. We did seven layers too. ❤🇩🇰
I went for a Vulcan anchor too! Another perfect choice. Gosh, but it holds well. (But a lot smaller version for my little Albin Vega 27ft. We’ve a 6kg for overnight and a 4kg for a lunch anchor.)
Totally agree!
wow nice copper bottom and that chain 400 feet of 3/8" - you're set !!
WOOHOO! She looks fantastic! My arms hurt just from watching.
This is maybe the best boat bottom I've ever seen!
This boat is going to be gorgeous when its finished. Even on day one i fell in love with the hull shape of the cape george. once shes in the water you will no longer be able to see her hull shape but you will still be able to feel her shape taking care of you.
She is looking soooooo nice and I love the colour combo. Mads used Coppercoat and he swears by it so I think a wise choice. Cheers Ian
So did Ran sailing on Ran2...they used the hard coat and recently so have Sailing Seabird.
Ground tackle is a great place to invest plenty of careful thought and money- well over recommended specifications. The return in peace of mind and sleep on the hook is hard to measure- essential.
Exciting times! All the effort of the last years have come together. Very well done Team Magic Capet. 😊😊😊😊
I will probably never be around a boat again, but sure have loved watching all the intricate work.
I really, really look forward to your videos! 😍
We had a vulcan 25 on a 36ft boat all chain rode. It set the first ime in all kinds of bottoms reset well with tide changes. Good choice
That is one beautiful hull
So many years, finallly this boat may splash
Copper Coat is a great choice! Working in two boatyards, I watched the application and touch-up of at least 6 CopperCoat boats. Two of them were over 12 years into their CC and only needed touch-ups on the leading edges. We'll apply it to our 1985 S2 11C once we get to Mexico next year. Your launch day is coming soon and we are so excited to see it! Namaste. 🙏
Great video. Copper bottom looks fantastic, Anchor looks great also. Magic Carpet 2 is coming along fast. Looking forward to next video
Looking good guys, very exciting. I’ve used a Rocna on my current, and previous boat. Seriously good holding power. Sleep easy
I would like to see more of Francios please and thank you- boat looks 🤩
Love the colour of the Coppercoat...and I can't get over how beautiful the bowsprit is. She is really coming along and looking nearly ready to go.
The Copper Coat quickly turns a green-brown once oxidized, which is what it is supposed to do. It looks weird the first time you see it, then it is very recognizable. It's good stuff.
@@kindsailing thank you.
Well done you guys, wont be long now till you are back in the water look forward to seeing her sailing
So happy to see you chose Copper Coat. Great product. Timely application wasn’t as difficult for me as the required sanding after it’s cured. I had help with the application but did the sanding by myself. Not a task for an old, retired guy. I love the finished product. I’m a fresh water sailor and a power wash at the end of the season eliminates any growth. As long as it stays in fresh water, I seriously doubt the boat will ever need another coat. Congrats on all you’ve accomplished. Love your channel. Beyond the incredible work you do, your music selection is the best.
Thanks for the video 👍👍😁
She's lovely, and so is Magic Carpet.😊
.looks great, guys. Well done.
Wow! What a pain but it looks incredible. Great effort. You are heros
So Exciting! So happy to know you! Harry fron Toronto. hugs
MC2 is looking classy af! Splash can't come a day too soon 🤗🤗🤗
Wow. Shiny copper hull. Looks cool and sounds like it will be the answer for minimum maintenance.
Looking beautiful! The boat too🤣😂🤣
I could watch you guys peel tape all day long. Looks great!
Guys, that boat starts to look like better than new. Wow.
Wow is that boat starting to look amazing!
Neat episode. Seeing what copper coat is I'm inclined to make my own. I'd start with one construction epoxy and if it doesn't work, try again. Don't have to take the 1st try off, just scuff. Sourcing copper powder easy too. Envious of your anchor.
Glad you guys are young, wouldn't want to haul that much ground tackle with a manual windlass. BUT you'll sleep well.
This coppercoat antifouling seems to be a great product. Of course its application is a bit tricky but if it lasts as long as it is supposed to, it will be a big advantage. And the red color matches perfectly with the "color scheme" of MCII.
You've reached an exciting step, completing (temporarily) the refit for a sea trial. It's going to be a pleasant break for you both, navigating in this gorgeous area. 🤙
The copper anti fouling looks wonderful and I think is an excellent choice!
No hat when applying antifoul!
Brave lady, Maya!
gary in Japan
Some great products there, but those ropes.....beautiful!
You will change that windlass! I have the same on a Pearson and MAN.... it's hard work in deep anchorages
The boat is looking fantastic, and cant wait see how the brand new chain looks inside the modified locker 👊🏻👋🏻
Looks great
I had a 26’ sailboat anchored out I. A cove because there were no slips available in any marinas near me. I had a delta style anchor and it drug quite far during a thunderstorm once. I bought a 44 lb vulcan and 30’ of 3/8 chain and it didn’t drag anymore. Love that anchor.
Amazing. You both look so happy 🎉
You two are amazing! Because of your commitment in this endeavor I now aspire to someday have a boat of my own to maybe meet ya'll in a port somewhere around the world!
Man, that is one Heavy Duty anchor and rode.
We anchored out In an exposed area
Our boat weighted 18000 lb , we withstood 25 knots.
The seas were 4-6 ft.
The wind reversed 150 degrees but we did not drag.
We had a 20 kg Rocna and 120 ft of 5/16” HT chain.
Based on your heavier anchor, and much heavier chain
I’d say you are good for at least 50 knots of wind .
👍👍👍👍👍
Pulls "Triceratops" out of nowhere. ❤😂
I like the copper colour goes well with the timber rails
It's beautiful guys. :)
HOLY MOLY I'm so happy for you guys, as always great stuff. I love the knowledge you guys throw down. Can't wait to see the sails filled with air as the rigging whistles as you surf down some following seas
Magic Carpet is looking amazing. I hope to some day see you on the water near Sidney BC before you leave for waters farther south. Kiwi Ties (Bavaria Cruiser 34) has Bavarian beers with your name on them. Belated Fair winds on you trials. 😊
Got Copper Coat on my boat, got a Rocna Vulcan 15 Kg too. There is some illusion out there about Copper Coat. It might be the best right now, you can have at your hull, but I heard you saying 10-15 years, that's not at all happening in my case. Don't think you're hull is closed for barnacles now. You still will have barnacles at your hull, but they're going off easier, than at hull without Copper Coat. I was anchoring in high pollution waters, so a hull cleaning once a month was necessary. But because of scraping the hull on a regular basis, the coat wont last 10-15 years. I was actually told 10 years, but after 5 years now, I have to renew Copper Coat.
To the Rocna Vulcan I can say, the anchor has always set at first time and saved my boat lately in hurricane Helene with gusts up to 60 Knots, in Bay waters. I have a 33 ft sailboat, about 7 tons of weight and I believe there is no better anchor out there, perhaps a Mantus Anchor. A 25 Kg Vulcan is the best choice for your boat and you will have always good and save anchoring, BUT - do not forget a 3-strand Nylon line 1" Dia, 15-20 ft long with a snubber to take the shock loads. The eyes are on a good snubber here, that adapts easy and save to the chain.
I can't wait to see your boat in the water. It's a beauty and an eye catcher. You did so much incredible work, now you guys deserve the globe to sail, as slow as possible please.
Good luck and always fair winds.
Stunning 😍
love the final color of the copper coat.
Great video!
HeY.....so enjoyed this one....a really happy video....😊
I think you will need to update the windlass in the future. My brother had an SL manual windlass on his boat. It took a long time to get the anchor up and had a bad tendency to freeze together when not used for a while.
Incredible to see your progress 😊
Looking great
Holy cow, I've got that same manual windlass but only 5/16" chain, and I'm SO done with it. It's a pain and so slow it's a safety issue too. I've just bought a used electric windlass - this winter's project. Hope it's gone well with that (beautiful) 3/8” chain this summer!
She (the boat) looks wonderfull
Aladino's quest for perfection, and the way that Epifanes has become THE brand, will continue to make the high-end brands want to work with you.
What a great episode for me to keep in the files. We have a new to us Cabo Rico 45 that I plan on Copper Coating the bottom next year! I also need to see if that Rocna will fit on our bowsprit, I didn't think I could fit a Rocna on this boat but I thought it was because of the anchor shank. We also have a number of those gold/white dock lines and they are wonderful. You'll love them. Anxiously, as I'm sure you both are, waiting on your splash.
Amazing.🙂
so close well done
That was a lot of work for one day!
Lookin great!
Those Atkin lines are sure sweet!
We also had a coppercoat on our Bavaria26. And you know, as we know, it changes colour. But as you say, it's relayable.
The CopperCoat looks real good, well done. I still think you need a bowsprit figurehead along the lines that Kirstin placed on hers
Interesting product and that you call it environmental friendly. In Europe it is forbidden because it is not. It slowly comes of the hull and does not break down so stays in the water. But it looks very nice
