I have a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq (same hybrid drivetrain I believe) with the same symptoms. It has a P1A8B code, and it also happened when driving in rain and after going through a car wash. The Hyundai dealer says it needs a new HPCU for almost $4,000. I think they are just using their scan tool and following their diagnostic flow sheets, but I think the root cause might be something else. It ran fine on dry days.
My mom said her car had this code on 2017 Sonata. But she was still able to drive home. Code reset itself and drove fine when i drove it. Mechanic didn't see any issues either when i brought it in. I thought maybe overheated but I didn't check for water. Not sure how water would get under there.
How do you remove the battery on the left in the trunk? I don’t need to remove batteries under the trunk. I need to remove the battery on the left you unhooked the negative clamp from the negative post

My friend baught a 2012 sonata hybrid,wont start ,get the same message on the dash saying turn vihicle off hybtid system the resdy light keeps flashing,the fuse is hood thr power relay is good ,the battery when tested st the power relay is 242 volts ,each cell is 26.7 v ,car wont start ,any advice will be appreciated 😅

Shop replaced inverter (hpcu) 2 hours after getting car back it shut off lost power and brakes. Dash lit up like crazy, got a new 12v battery 6 months ago, hybrid safety fuse replace 2 years ago

I havev2014vkia optima hybrid. I can drive it about 20 minutes before it starts surging and then the hybrid light comes on. Ev battery stops holding a charge . Kia says it might be the transmission and electric drive motor. Cost more than the cars worth. Plus it has 78000 miles. Ive had it since 87 miles.
Too much extra cost/complexity/unreliability to eek out a few more MPG. IMO, a straight gas version is more reliable, cheaper to buy and WAY cheaper to fix. I esp. would NEVER buy a used Hybrid.
a "few more" is an understatement. i can get 40 mpgs on my optima. i heard camry hybrids get up to 50mpgs. 600 miles of range before we gotta fill up a tank of gas. normal cars get around 300 miles before a fill-up. and i think kia/Hyundai got good warranties on the hybrid system too. like 100k or 150k i think. my previous car was a 03 nissan sentra. 1.8L oil burner. probably got a little less than 25mpgs.. transmission went out twice. engine went out twice... donated it to make-a-wish 💀
I really wish you guys could get somebody else to record it so you can actually show us how to get to the actual fuse part of it. I’m having a hard time even opening the orange box that the fuses in and I can’t find video anywhere because everybody’s holding the camera themselves.🤬🤬🥄
Hello, I have that same problem with a 2016 Hyundai hybrid sonata and I scan it and it gave me the error p0aa6 it takes out of the hybrid system I cleaned it that it had humidity but it keeps giving me a problem I only saw a strange part that has like a fuse from DC450 to 120 to 2000 amp

It should cover under warranty since Hyundai provides 10 year 100,000 miles warranty

That's the 12v vehicle start battery. You just need basic tools to remove that. You will need a socket set and a ratchet.
Same issue as you but engine shook when the alert came out

So, it is just being wet problem?
In our situation, yes, somehow rain water is able to make it in the trunk.
@@junkyard-dogs good to know. My 16 Sonata just prompted the hybrid error message but disappeared after 24 hrs. I am looking out for possible cause.
I had the same problem it was the cattle Cadillac converter

You replace all hv or relay
In this case we just had to remove the accumulated water underneath the battery and let the moisture in the battery dry out. No parts were replaced.
Huge gap in your video. I’m sorry to say as an owner of a Sonata I highly doubt it’s just moisture.
