Well, Beinhorn was right, this album is a masterpiece. I listen to Superunknown since i was 12...and now i'm 38, this band and this album changed my life.
Same. Im 40 and out of all the albums I listened to repeatedly as a kid in the 90s Superunknown and RHCP’s BSSM are ones I can still play and enjoy every second of.
I remember buying the album and hearing Black Hole Sun for the first time. It sounded otherworldly upon first listen. As if the band channeled Zeppelin, Sabbath, and the Beatles in one song and even by that description it doesn’t do it justice.
@Master Soda masta soda - I think that’s the beauty of Superunknown. It was new at the time but, it still had that feeling of nostalgia to it. I heard the Beinhorn had Cornell listen to Sinatra when it came to doing his vocals. That’s one reason it feels apart from the likes of the rest of their contemporaries at the time.
@@mastersodamastasoda1980 If Superunknown is updated Sabbath/Zeppelin then Nirvana is updated Punk/Sludge and AIC was updated Metal/70's hard rock. Black Hole Sun is nothing like any other pop song. All those other bands wish they could of wrote something as genius as that.
@@sstaners1234That's why it's better. Nothing beats 70's music and none of those Seattle bands can match the performances of Soundgarden. 4 song writers.
He knew what he was doing! Imagine the crappy album they would have cut if they’d used the first half baked bunch of songs and recorded them in a garage with an sm58. Lol. He put the super into the unknown
You guys really need to chill out on saying the word, 'record'. Great interview..but 'record', 'record, record, record'..starts to hurt the head. It almost sounded like Eddie Trunk talking to a musician, trying to sound like an insider.
Most people who has worked this guy seemed to have some not so great things to say. Pretty sure this is the guy who thought Patty Schemel couldn’t play on Celebrity Skin…basically because she is a woman. Patty is an incredible drummer and more than capable. He had some old industry session schmuck come in and do the drum parts.

I bought it when it came out and I’m 43 now. I still listen to it.
The drum sound on Like Suicide is worth 5 days setting up
The drum sounds you mean, because the first half and the second half of that song have completely different sounds. It's a triumph of production.

If Superunknown can be criticized for anything, it's probably it's too heavy reliance on retro as opposed to pushing forward like Nirvana and Alice.

@@mr.brenman2132 I wholeheartedly agree. : D
Awesome record

Beinhorn looks like Mark Ruffalo but sounds like Poindexter. 🤣🤣🤣
Alive in the Superunknown! First it steals your mind than it steals your.......SOUL!!!!
The title track was epic, and underrated or overlooked!
He seems a bit evasive or purposefully vague... Little bit more detail would have been interesting
