It so cool to see all the memorabilia you still have from your days with BW! I first saw you guys open for Dream Theater in November 1997, at the House of Blues in Chicago. I was completely blown away by your sound and became a fan. After that, I saw you play the Union Terrace at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and the Rave Bar in Milwaukee. (I think that was 1998/99?) Anyway, thanks for making these videos for this page, and the Facebook group! Wishing you all the success with your music production!
I was at this show as well! I had a massive Halloween party the night before and was insanely hungover. We had gotten tickets well in advance and I remember saying "Are the Galactic Cowboys opening again?" No. "I Mother Earth?" No, some band from Canada. Big Wreck. Apparently they're Berklee dudes. "Oh cool okay, I'll check 'em out." I immediately went out and got "In Loving Memory Of..." and really dug it. I remember Ian getting into it with some heckler in the audience and saying something like, "We suck? Yeah well, who's up here and who's down there?"
@@JalenRawley LOL, I remember Ian doing that as well! And then he spread his legs, did a rock star pose with his guitar and growled "I'm a fucking rock star!"
Haha! I’ve seen the interview that your referring to.. Yeah Beinhorn seems like a super intense guy.. He didn’t hold back talking shit about Kim Thayil or Matt or even Chris lol. I guess that’s just his style. Ps. That story with the duct tape was hilarious 😆
That Dave story is hilarious 😆 I've dealt with some pretty unique producers myself but never one that even comes close to the prestigious level Benihorn👍
Pretty awesome to hear this story about you guys, I would have never known you guys worked with Beinhorn! Plus that little jam... it has such strong Still Waters vibes. Was it something that ever made it into a song?
@@producemusicathome I loved your playing on the first two albums,I’m sure you hear it all the time but yes, very Bonhamesque but still it’s your playing. My favourite Big Wreck drummer, let’s be honest but the amount of drummers that have come and gone is almost Megadeth level.
@@theclanmorrison Forrest will always be BWs drummer in my book, he's who gave them that unmistakable sound that the band has tried to emulate ever since.
It's really hard to tell someone to play ahead of the beat. It's something that you have to feel out on your own and it takes time and experience to find that kind of pocket. Michael is a great producer. I wonder if it would have been more effective for Dave to have been provided some musical examples and time to work it out?
Wow just came across this. Great story. Thanks man!
Love these videos and Big Wreck history! Keep them coming Forrest!!
Thanks Bill. Appreciate it
