I used to wonder who Paraluman was when I was a kid. I thought it was a made up name of a non existent person, until I became interested in our old films and found out who she was! From that moment something has changed when I listen to song Ang Huling El Bimbo. It doesn't just made me feel nostalgic for my youth days, but also to the era where Paraluman reigned as a star. An era which I was never born. Thank you for this well made video.
We also used to wonder who Paraluman was. I guess that was everyone's question when Ang Huling El Bimbo came out. This is our love letter to the fans of Ang Huling El BImbo since we are its best fans as well.

I remember Eheads' MTV win in 1996 being unique in that although MTV Asia had been around for a while by then, there was no MTV Asia Music Awards yet. Asia was just a category within the then more global MTV Awards held in the US. The following year 1997, the first MTV Asian Music Awards was held in Singapore, and it was to that "localized" MTV Awards PNE, Kulay, Kyla et al were featured.

Writing a song under 5 minutes is rare but not unheard of, especially for poets who have their muse at the time. It happens talaga. In 5 minutes or less poets and lyricists can write a song pag may kanta na kating-kati na lumabas sa heart and mind and soul nila. Tapos astig kasi dahil sa muse maganda na agad yung kanta or poem. No need to edit na 💖

It might not be an impossible thing for a naturally poetic person, but the rarest thing is that "making a song in 5 minutes that will be eventually one of the most iconic songs of all time." Nowadays, it is now rare to happen because some of the hit songs or some of the songs today were actually made in weeks or months, like for example a certain filipina singer-songwriter which she revealed that she made that english collab for 2 months. And to name a few. This kind of story & history of Ang Huling El Bimbo is very rare to happen. Maybe because the creative production and such were different back then. I'm not a professional critic when it comes to creative production in music but here's my piece of my observation. There are some record company/label interventions nowadays in an artist's creative process. Dumadaan muna siguro sakanila yung written song bago i-release like reviewing or adding some lyrics through their hired seasoned writers, yung unknown writers or mismong plain writers lang talaga. Kaya mapapansin mo sa songwriting credits ng ibang singer song-writer artist, marami nang involved sa writing process, usually mga hired writers ng record label. Hindi na lang iisang singer-song writer yung may credits, marami sila.
To sum up, I can confidently say that no one can top the iconic song Ang Huling El Bimbo and its historic moment. It is rare and considered a gem in the Philippine music industry ✨️

It's actually the songs that were written fast (muse-inspired) are the ones that usually became hits. Take for example the phenomenal 'Anak' by Freddie Aguilar, as far as I can remember, Freddie in one interview said that he wrote that song between 10 to 15 minutes. A 10-15 mins composition time can still be considered fast as it takes a day, a week, a month or even a year or so to some songwriters to finish a song. Eric Gancio of Yano in a self-made video said that he and Dong Abay finished seven songs in two days in their first collaboration. Five songs on their first day which included Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo,Tsinelas and the other 3 I forgot, the next day they wrote another two as a spill over of their creative energy. All those seven songs in their first album became hits in the early 90's. Sa songwriter's lingo ang tawag dun nagtatae ng kanta. Pepe Smith wrote the rock anthem Ang Himig Natin inside the comfort room of the Rizal Memorial Stadium before their concert there in the early 70's. Imagine how many minutes can one person spend in a Stadium cr. It's just when 'it' is there, you have to grab that door and open it for it to flow freely. And those that comes naturally are the most beautiful and will be most remembered.

I'm not sure where but I read it somewhere (twas a long time ago) that when they were recording Ultraelectromagneticpop! they were short of songs for the album...so Ely came up with "Ligaya". But anyways, Ang Huling El Bimbo, such an awesome song :)

Another correction: Paraluman's surname is pronounced as Gi-suh since her father is a German. In German language, vowel combination of ie sounds like a long e.

Spilled facts at 0:22 - 0:39 ❤ I was born in 2001, but I grew up knowing this song & this legendary band named Eraserheads. Who wouldn't know about Ang Huling El Bimbo song? Ask someone in the street and they know it right away. Look at me now, I am officially a fan starting 2019 from being a casual listener of their music. I don't know, but there's magic in their music. I appreciate them then and now. I never loved any Filipino rock band & their music as much as I do for Eraserheads. I will never get tired of listening in their music ❤
