Maybe try something like a woven basket with lid/bin with lid thing according to your taste so that the thing can be left out on the floor to double as “decorative item” to just throw the socks in as they are. Maybe it’s not optimal but still cuter than having them all over the floor? In case that was an earnest question at all 😂😂😊
There's a constant stream of clothing haul & capsule wardrobe videos on TH-cam. We are living in a carousel of consumerism where more is more. Many ppl may aspire to this way of living where you just own what you need. They will firstly however need to divest from their current way of thinking where you need multiple handbags in an array of colours & sizes for different occasions. You just never get peace with that way of living because you never achieve satisfaction.
I think it is so hard to "un-learn" this culture because we are constantly influenced to belong to it. The amount of advertising whether sponsored or not surrounds us.
Yes!!! Couldn't agree more. I have actually unfollowed some channels because the consumerism side of things has gotten very out of hand. It's so off putting for so many reasons. Well said! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m the first to admit that I am stuck in this loop, and you are spot on about never being satisfied. There is a major problem with contentment because advertising is really that powerful. I’m trying to claw my way out😢
Two bikes to donate and I'm done with a year's worth of decluttering. Furniture, appliances, family heirlooms, household items, sheets, tons of vintage bits and bobs, towels, garden supplies, CDs, books, LPs, dishes, sports equipment, coats, shoes, home decor clothes, animal crates, traps and supplies - I'm sentimental and a saver so the process was often a painful one. Now at the end of December with only two bikes to donate, my life has expanded and there so much more ease and flow. It was definitely worth the pain of letting it go.
I always organize my wardrobe for Autumn /winter and spring snd summer…Each season I check the clothes and declutter stuff and bring my shoes each season to the cobbler, so I have always my shoes ready for the new season. My goal for 2024 is a no buy year, I don’t want buy any clothes…I wanna see how much money I could put on the side. We all have to many stuff, and who needs every season 30 new pieces, when you got them in your wardrobe.
As a new homeowner living by myself for first time, I'm encountered numerous storage and organizational challenges which you have addressed in this video! I'mthankful and greatful for all your practical tips and suggestions on helpful products! Probably the most helpful video I've come across so far. Gratitude and blessings to you qnd your family!
🏠 I enjoy all your videos, and this one is really useful. I lived 10 years on a boat and 20 years in a studio apartment. Those black velvet hangers, small boxes to organize drawers and one in/one out work for me even now that I live in a larger space. Thx!
OMG that extra hanging rack to create double layers will perfectly solve a problem I’ve been trying to solve for 2 years!! I also second recommending tiered organizers for under a sink, that have the bottom shelf on a slider. Makes grabbing cleaning supplies super easy!
🏘 Thank you! I really needed this motivation. After a divorce, moving into a a small apartment and I won't have a dresser until I can save up for one, so the Ikea solution is great!! and everything in this video! Will be buying some stuff in the next week.
🏠 appreciate that this was less of a "buy these things to better your life" and more "use your things you already have creatively". I think you also might find cool solutions for storage with Clutterbug as she has a fun system to tell you your organizing style, since you prefer tucked away things but still visable you might be a Bee or Ladybug!
Glad I stumbled upon on your video. Out of hundreds of videos I've seen, only a very few of you are like this who is not overwhelmingly so many unnecessary items just for aesthetic. I like how you style your home with things you actually need on a daily and that is something I am actually hoping to see when Im searching clutter free organizational videos.
I had just moved after being in a slightly bigger place for 23 years. Also inherited some of mom’s items after losing her 1.5 yrs ago…needless to say this move was emotionally and physically stressful yet much needed for a new beginning. I first made a big decision to use my dresser as a TV console in the living room, which means I’ll need to relocate all my t-shirts to the closet! I purged so much of everything but still have a lot! I try to keep an open yet sensible mind when I re-organize my belongings, I constantly thanking for their services when I had to purge any items….it’s an on-going daily life lessons!! 🏠 😊
I’m genuinely surprised by how useful this video was. I’ve watched so many videos with similar titles that I just clicked on this video since I watch everything you upload. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks! And thank you for showing alternatives to buying even more stuff. I’m going to spend the evening tidying and organising with a smile on my face and that’s rare! Ah, I just love your videos.
Thank you for your practical tips. Also, you are articulate with a beautiful voice. I enjoyed many of the ideas. In my humid climate, some kind of desiccant (bamboo charcoal, Lee Valley, or Bentonite clay), and possibly cedar essential oil in some format, in any closed plastic container will keep things fresh. Relaxing watch. Thank you.
Thank you, Christina! 🏡 😊❤ Much needed content for this girl here...getting more done this year & feeling accomplished with each space, closet, area in our home.❤
This isn’t a solution for every bathroom depending on space and layout, but a couple years ago I finally got (secondhand purchase) one of those wooden boat shelving units for the master bathroom and used it to store towels and toiletries right next to the vanity. Instantly the vanity and sinks looked like a hotel and they are so much faster to clean than when all our stuff was on those surfaces. I also use some trays and bins on the boat shelf to keep things organized and tidy. I still have the same quantity of items readily accessible, but it somehow looks better and is much easier to deal with.
I love that you’ve focused on inspiring creative reuse as well as on inexpensive and free options while advertising a good product. My preferences are always to either buy nothing and get creative, or, if that’s not working well enough, eventually buy something so versatile, durable, aesthetic, and good that I’ll love it, use it, and transform it endlessly. The one reason I haven’t used Tr uEarth strips is that I read that all such products so far contain microplastic films that end up in the water supply. I trust the source a good deal so haven’t gotten around to looking into it further. Is it true?
Both The Simple Environmentalist and Gittemary Johansen did really good videos here on youtube about laundry sheets I'd recommend! But yeah, one of the ingredients is PVA which is a type of plastic. It can be broken down but only with the right conditions so it's questionable. Unfortunate because the concept is good, but I wouldn't buy them myself.
we store pots in oven - we only use the oven every few months to bake blondies for parties. I am using stainless steel roasting pans to store pantry small items (I can stack them). I switched to ikea 365 food square and rectagular storage containers, they stack, very economical on space. I use packing cubes to store many things, am still working on the arrangement.
Great tips, thank you 😊 🙏 Me and my hubby are about to move to another country & we will have a smaller house with only a very small closet for us to share. Kitchen is also very small. There isnt even a broom closet for vaccum/cleaning supplies, nothing! So.. we’ll need all the advice we can get! Personally I prefer Ikeas wodden hangers. They are very flat/not as bulky as most wodden hangers but still has a bit more width than those velveen ones, witch I prefer, otherwise they feel like they cut into the fabric of the garments, but maybe thats just the case with heavier garments? Just a tip for those who want to land somewhere in between you and your boyfriend? 😅 I also want to give a tip to everyone out there that have Kon Maried their homes and used old shoe boxes as dresser organisers for clothes: dont… Its a great tip she gives, but me and hubby were abroad for two months (scouting for a new home in the new country) and came back to a home semi-destroyed by mice! 😰🤢 They did not only settle for gordging on the pantry but went into every bed and closet and wardrobe space we have, defacating, peeing - and chewing up garments and matresses 😩 And - they just looove cardboard 🙄 And from ecperience in previous homes, different sorts of bugs (moths etc) love cardboard too… so, it might be a good idea to actually shop for bins and boxes in hard plastic were neither bugs nor rodents can enter… especially if its a space you dont use that much or are away for some time. Decluttering/minimizing of course always the first step like you say, but regardless of how much or little things we have we might want to keep it out of t the way of destructive forces… 😐 I have just ordered vacuum bags now to put extra bedding and towels etc, both for the move but also to be able to store away under the bed in the new storage-less home. I also hope they will keep bugs away… No more cardoaed boxes for storage for us in the future 🙄 Those kitchen solutions you show look interesting, will have to look into those once we have moved into the new place 🙂 But for now, I have to continue decluttering/minimizing for the move! 😅
This video came at such a great time lol I’m working on getting more organized (and decluttering). Do you mind sharing which plastic containers you recommend for under the bed storage? I don’t want bugs getting in either.
I needed this video so much cause I recently moved from a house in Massachusetts to an apartment in California and it’s been a struggle with organizing my place especially with a family of 5. Thank you 🤍
🏠. I have the same shoe storage boxes. And I use them to store my flat sandals by colors. And then the extras I have sweatpant sets in- so I don’t have to fumble to find the color I want and the matching top. They are already together!!!
This was so helpful, especially with the shoe storage solution. My shoes are in their boxes but it totally makes sense to have a see through box so you do remember what you have lol
I can’t find a link to the white storage bins anywhere in the description or your shopping links. If I try to search for them I just find every article that’s ever been posted with the word bougie in it! Can you share a link? Thanks!
I got a big box of hangers off the local Buy Nothing group from someone who was switching to velvet hangers. You def don't have to buy anything to get this done. I prefer the thin coated wire hangers, but hey, free trumps preferences.
🏠 love it! I need to consider how to use the tray idea for my beverage nook, which looks SO cluttered with my sodastream, tea pot and kettle, teas, coffee grinder and french press... Oh yeah and syrups 😂
Having a bigger house makes it a greater mess , half of my life has passed and just recently i have started doing all this and i am so happy to see your video❤
Wow. Seeing the pictures of the hangers side by side. I always walk into my closet feeling like that is always an eye sore but I didn’t really understand the space I was wasting w the plastic ones and it doesn’t as look put together.
Thank you for the video Christina 😊 I don't know if Jeff is also minimalist, but I would love to know how to implement these things even if your partner might not be as organised 😅
I am constantly decluttering and I love it. Just today I donated sooo much stuff which I thought I would use but three months went by and I didn't use them so they had to go 😂
Hi! I’m a new subscriber to your YT channel and I must say I like several things about it. I’m from Quebec city and very happy that we have the same references, such as snow boots. Although my winters are probably colder than yours. 😉 Your videos are short, informative and with a touch of humor. You are a bit like the friend everyone would like to have, like Charlotte in Sex and the City. 🙃 Happiness and success with your YT channel and a wonderful year 2024. P.S. Sorry for my french accent. 🤪 Alexandra 💁🏼♀️
Let me know your best home organization tips & how you keep socks off the floor 😂
My one tip is to have a place for everything.
If you don't have place, things just drift around.
Maybe try something like a woven basket with lid/bin with lid thing according to your taste so that the thing can be left out on the floor to double as “decorative item” to just throw the socks in as they are. Maybe it’s not optimal but still cuter than having them all over the floor? In case that was an earnest question at all 😂😂😊
Having a pet who likes to chew holes in your socks (in our case, a bunny) is a great way to be motivated to keep things off the floor!
🏡🏠❤😊
Money incentive - your partner gets paid a small amount every time he finds socks on the floor. 😎

Agree about the “haul” videos-sick to death of them & have stopped watching any. They’re just a continuous advertisement for video sponsors.

I agree with using old tupperware without lids, and other cardboard containers are a great tip for keeping drawers tidy without spending x

Oh yes, i totally agree! I use that tricks too.
🏠
I have used Legos for custom drawer organizers and small containers before. They work surprisingly well. 😁
Omg that’s AWESOME!
Holy crap that's genius
I was just thinking rid of the kids Legos - but now properly sized storage areas!
@@jacki838 get them to build it! Haha so fun
Brilliant!

Only on the first tip and OMGoodness! YES! I am obsessed with how different my closet looks with just this one change. Small change >> huge impact

Love you back! Xo
I love shelf stackers. Cardboard shoe boxes and sock boxes make my drawers organized.

Now I've got to declutter the piles of papers.

🏚 I'm in the midst of a full declutter of 50 odd years worth of accumulation. I heartily agree with less "storage" and more decluttering.
I wish you had had some tips for your bathroom, maybe in another video 😉. The tips you gave were really helpful 👍🏼
I’ll have a dedicated vid!
Great!

I keep a small laundry basket next to the place where I get un/dressed, so I can just drop things like socks right in there.
Wow I love this video! These rules are simple and easy to apply yet make such a big difference ! Huge thanks, going to do this asap !
I needed this video so much cause I recently moved from a house in Massachusetts to an apartment in California and it’s been a struggle with organizing my place especially with a family of 5. Thank you 🤍
Thank you 😍 great tips! The more I focus on decluttering the more I appreciate what I have 😃 and also discover 🎁 many things I forgot about.🏠

Omg “this thing” had one for years and lost it in the move but it is life changing!
In your pan cupboard consider fitting a shelve about 7 inches from the top the height of your frying pan ,then you can slip it in and out easily
🏠 Thanks for these advices! Actually, I already use some of them. I use small cardboard boxes to create order in the drawers
🏡 that bread tag cord clip idea is genius...might have to try that!
🏠 I have those stacking shoe boxes, too. Indeed, they're tricky to assemble, but so worth it.
This was so helpful, especially with the shoe storage solution. My shoes are in their boxes but it totally makes sense to have a see through box so you do remember what you have lol
Thank you so much for posting! I love your channel! ❤
Christina, I've been dying to know what camera and lens you use! Such crisp broll :)
Love your sense of humor 🏠

this is a great video I enjoyed the layout very much ❤ amazing tips, very straightforward. You rock!
Love this video. I also use only velvet hangers but my husband doesn't like it for his wardrobe 😂
That’s two husbands who don’t like the velvet hangers in the comments now! I wonder if it’s a thing haha
No I use a combination the velvets are too flimsy for heavier items coats jackets and do not fill the shoulders and break.
🏡 Love this! Definitely helpful as I tackle my closet space 😊
🏡 liked how you handle the pan in cabinets
Perfect motivation I needed to clean
🏡 😊 Very good video! All great ideas and i appreciate you mentioning the free versions along with the purchasable ones! Thank you!
