The 3B was a great workhorse in the 70s. Those small-bore Bachs were great...even the student models. Years ago, I got a gig to do the lead in the pit for Hello Dolly (why they placed me on lead, I don't know). Anyway, I found an old Bach student model bone that really played/responded well and I used it for the gig. I was impressed (even had a reed player on that gig tell me that I was a fantastic trombone player...if she only knew).
It's a sobering thought that some trombones last longer than their owners. We are really only ever borrowing them for a while. Fortunately they can't talk about us the way we talk about them. 🤣
I've got a silver 3b with the f attachment from the 70's and I absolutely love this instrument for big band stuff. I'm not as much of a fan of the King trombones made past the early 80's Probably the one horn that I do miss and I had to let go of was my Martin Committee model. it's a great little horn for playing lead and has a tiny bore of .485. I'd like to find another one someday, but at this point, they're old instruments and finding one in good shape is really hard. Sadly for my large bore horn, I have a Blessing B88 that I purchased in the mid 80's when I was in college. The price was right, and I was able to make small payments on it. it just doesn't have the resonance I want from the bell. Everything about the horn is just pretty much, Meh.
