    Craig, would definitely like to see a video showing how the camera, sensors, and thermostat holistically work together as a home alarm system. Depending on your review, it could make a compelling alternative to the competitors; especially at only $10 a month.

      I agree. Looking to start a cheap security system either with Ecobee or Aqara. Willing to spend more if there is value.

      @@bbruce65 check out Cove, uses cellular not internet for monitoring.

    This thermostat really is jampacked with a ton of awesome features and definitely deserves the “Premium” branding. I do wish however that there were more smart options for devices that can control AC window units and mini split systems. Central units are great and all, but there are more efficient heating and cooling options out there. Great review as always, Craig!

    Hi Craig, Another great review. I’ve been using the Ecobee 3 for about 4 months and it works great. I added 5 additional sensors throughout the house to ensure we capitalized on data to drive our heating and cooling needs. Everyone in the house feels like the temperature has been more appropriate to their needs since adding the additional sensors.
    I am really excited about some additional devices that can attach to the Ecobee system. Adding a humidifier to the HVAC system sounds like a great idea and Ecobee can manage this when it is built in to the HVAC system (vs. a stand-alone humidifier, though with automations you could get humidity data from the sensors and alter the humidifier settings based on desired preferences and occupancy. Better still are Smart Vents which can integrate into Ecobee. These smart vents ensure a much smarter use of occupancy data so that empty rooms have their vents closed. The only downside is that the vents need to match the exact dimensions of your vents. My vents are not yet in an available size but I cannot wait until they come out.

      Hello Dr. Coke. Thank you very much. 🙏. That is great that you are really putting yours to work. I like that you have 5 smart sensors going. That is nice. It will be nice when the whole system can be smart. That is where will see some good efficiency upgrades.

    8:54 $10/mo for professional monitoring could save you $15/mo or more on your homeowners policy. It would still take 30 years to break even, but you're losing money every month on ADT and Vivint. Worth considering.

    VERY helpful. My cheap old programmable thermostat needed a 21st century replacement. At same time, I was wanting some form of security monitoring again (having canceled original monitoring plan that was $30/month!!). So being able to add monitoring back for $10/month is a no-brainer.

    I actually had to contact support for a question about in HomeKit, the thermostat saying “configuring” and they responded very quickly. This thermostat is great and the speaker for music isn’t too bad.

    Considering upgrading from an Emerson Sensi thermostat mostly because this ecobee can control a whole home humidifier I’m about to install on my hvac system. It will be great being able to control the humidifier right from the thermostat (or phone)

    Hi Craig, not sure how to get the info to you but back to you, concerning the SmartWings smart blinds. I just installed my 3 that I ordered. 2 at 32x48 and 1 65x64 for $850 shipped. got the 70% blackout in the ivory. The fabric is nice and the installed super easy. went right into homekit no problem! I got 1 remote and the dongle to use with Alexa as back up. They work really awesome and look awesome. I got the ones with the valance cassette with fabric inside mount. for custom fit blinds the price it right! I have 5 more on order

    but the monitoring depends on your internet, not cellular, correct? Not too secure to me. I will keep my Cove system for that.

    You prolly can program the shutoff the AC when the door is open yourself. I bought a bunch of cheaper and smaller sensors in my house and programmed automation based on temp and humidity and it works great. Saved me a lot of $.

    Craig, yes, would like to see video on setting up for a home alarm. Also, I'm surprised that eco doesn't have a sensor for monitoring water leakage. I'm in area with a high water table and have suffered the consequences of a sump pump (and backup pump) malfunction. Know of any 3rd party water
    sensor that would work with ecobee premium system?

      @CraigsTechTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Mark, good to know. I think it may a bit before we see more than the door sensors, motion and cameras. I feel like they are taking a big leap by going with security. I like the Aqara stuff and use 3 of their water sensors.

    I’ve had nest since the beginning, I’m told it’s not compatible with the Bosch heat pump I’m getting. About to get the echobee, I hope I can adapt and like it. What should I get to replace my nest protect smoke detector?

    Never could justify a smart thermostat since my home consists of two zones, upstairs and downstairs, on or off basically. I would need a whole new HVAC system to make it feasible.

    Does it not work with Apple TV vs homepod/mini?

    • @CraigsTechTalk
      @CraigsTechTalk  ปีที่แล้ว

      In order to talk to Siri it has to be a HomePod. The processing is done on the HomePod.

      @@CraigsTechTalk I ended up purchasing the Premium version. It can be added to HomeKit and controlled via an iOS device (using an Apple TV as a hub), but in order to talk directly to thermostat via Siri, it requires a HomePod or HomePod mini as you’ve mentioned.
