    You should now look into the new Nest Thermostat with Matter and see if it’s the better than this one.

    I've got a heat pump, and I've got 8 wires coming out of the wall, that were hooked up to the existing/old Honeywell thermostat.
    With the ecobee instructions, i only see clear details on what to do with 5 of the wires...
    Any suggestions?
    I've looked & looked for a video of someone who has a heat bump, installing this ecobee premium, but have been unable to find an installation instruction video.

      Not much of an HVAC expert, just know a little bit. Have you tried posting a picture of the 8 wires on the ecobee subreddit page? I see a lot of posts on there where people help each other out with more complicated setups like heat pumps, humidifiers, etc.

    Do you feel that ecobee thermostat shows room temperature higher than other sensor from different brands?

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought an a humidity/temp sensor from Amazon to compare a while back and the degrees/humidity were really close in temperature. Not seeing this issue.

      Yes, ours report inconsistent temperatures against 3 digital thermometers and one older digital honeywell which I keep at the same wall.

    Can I turn off the microphone if I don’t want the thermostat listening to me? If I turn off the microphone, is there a bright red light that shines or is that removed?

    Can you explain how geofencing works with HomeKit and Ecobee? Just 2 people at home with very different schedules. Both of us have iPhones. Would like to have it set up for last out and first home. Thanks

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So HomeKit geofencing works by adding the ecobee to your home through HomeKit. Then you can create automations that trigger based on your iPhones location. For example, you can set an automation to set the thermostat to 68 cool when you arrive home or set it to a range of 68-76 when you leave the home. If you have multiple people added to your home, you can also modify the automations to be able to trigger when someone leaves the home or when all people have left the home.

    In the winter I don’t want my ac to come on if it gets warm on those sunny winter days, I only want heat in winter and ac only in summer. I’ve been told it won’t allow that, they work together

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is definitely possible to have a heat only mode or a cool only mode. You do not have to use the Auto Mode. If for example in the winter you set it to 72F heat, if it becomes hotter than 72, nothing will happen, but if it falls below 72, it will turn on the heat. This is also the case for cool only mode.

    HELLO, My thermostat is always warm to the touch. Is this normal? I am using in Cool right now. I have the Alexa Build generation.

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My thermostat is the same temperature as the room temperature. It is not hot. Maybe you should contact Ecobee to report this.

    Do you wire the thermostat to the HVAC? Which system do you have?

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what you're asking. The thermostat is wired to the board of the HVAC.

    I have an odd situation. My dog has developed severe anxiety over the relay click on our thermostat. I am looking for a thermostat that has the quietest click or no relay click at all. Any recommendations? I don't care if it is smart or not.

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ecobee thermostat does not have any clicking noise when it switches between heat and cool. It’s literally 100% quiet. This also depends if you have an HVAC equipment close to your thermostat that could cause noise.

    Does the ecobee have a fan only mode? no AC or heat.

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the heating/cooling mode is separate from the Fan mode. You can set the thermostat to OFF and run the fan from 15 min to indefinitely. There are a few time options in between.

    • @Falcon408
      @Falcon408 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much. I'll upgrade to Ecobee from my older Nest. I like to open windows in the summer evenings to allow the outdoor cool air to enter the house using a fan only mode. Most smart thermostats don't have this feature.

    My ecobee is installed. How do I get 4 digit code to add to app on phone?

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your code should be on the thermostat. You need to navigate to the menu button (3 lines) in the top right corner, then go to registration. Your ecobee should provide the code.

  • @user-tm7fk7cf5s
    @user-tm7fk7cf5s 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How can you connect to the app

    • @zanevtech
      @zanevtech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the thermostat is already installed, then you need to go to the thermostat screen and then choose main menu, settings, then registration code. Once the thermostat displays the code, you can then go to the ecobee app and click the + sign to add the thermostat. Click that you have already installed it and it will ask for the registration code that was previously displayed on the thermostat screen. Afterwards you should be able to see the thermostat in the ecobee app.

    Just informed to everyone, that all of this new digital wall thermostat that have all this features will create problems to the A/C system that not many A/C technician know how to fix this new thermostat problems.
    The troubleshooting time that is consumed to find the real problem with the A/C system will cost more the repair with this new fantasy thermostat.
    Every A/C system just needs a regular wall thermostat. To do it job cool and heat.
    Save your money and your A/C system from companies that will take your money from you.
