The video is actually sadder than it seems. The young girl at 15 is starting to lose hope for her future. At least the cash gift brightened that day. I'm not surprised Troy goes dark now and then. Sometimes the world feels hopeless.

@@LuckyNikitaBoba she probably doesn't make more than the equivalent of a dollar or two USD and each is about 22,xxx VND. funny subtitle in the video, anyway, good to see them both its sad that she doesn't want to go school. glad you gave her some money just to see her smile and not have worry a bit, Great work troy
I wish I was worldly enough to understand all those references, but I got some of them. You're like a modern day Robin Hood, without the crime and robbery. Love what you do, Troy
I sometimes wonder what becomes of these cases of years gone by. It would be interesting to see Troy bump into one of them a few years later and see how things are going for them (and maybe help them again if need be)
I know life is tough in VN especially if you don't have a career or an education to better yourself and your family financially. Seeing her genuinely smile for a split second will bring herself and her mother so much joy.
The sad thing about Vietnam is even if you had all the education from University’s it still wouldn’t mean shit if your family doesn’t have any connections or LOTS of money to bribe your way into a good company
Since you are mentioning Melbourne, do you know of some good way that I can find some Vietnamese there ? I have a pretty old friend who resettled there in the 80s and I have been looking for him all over places to no avail. Wonder what happen to Linh and other kids. I ran into some ladies in the late 30s or so who carry and sell souvernirs on foot and speaking with the same accent with theirs. I aksed and they know the kids. It was a few years back and I do no tknow when I can go back to VN again. Keep up your good works as always.
Its such a bloody pity that kids are forced to drop out of school just to earn money. School is free in Vietnam but they have to buy their own uniforms and school books which can be expensive for poor folks. But school is the only way for them to break the poverty cycle because even with a high school education, they will be able to work in an office which commands a way higher pay than the average factory worker. I just hope the girl is able to marry a rich dude.
Best if don't have money or times to raise kids is for both parents tie up the tubes. It's pretty reasonable costs, and it's the right thing to do than to bring a kid in this world and can't take care of them!!!
Ahh yes, great idea. Anyone who says it's drastic, is evidently also prone to exxageration. So wouldnt this make them guilty by association? Wouldnt criticising others just be their way of criticising themselves? Same thing goes through my head everytime I hear a fob try and speak english. A mother who truly loves her child would ensure he/she had mastered the english langauge before being allowed to venture out alone. lf shes not going to take the time to teach him, or at the very least hire some tutors, then she should never have started a family to begin with. So I agree. Cut her tubes! Actually, you know what? Why dont you throw in some female circumcision while your down there! Teach this bitch a lesson!!
I really watched a lot of your videos. Life is tough. There's a saying: instead of offering fish to a poor man, better give him a fishing pole. What do you think about developing a self-sustaining social-enterprise where poor and unfortunate people can work to produce things that they can sell? Donations could assure the starting capital and the needed cash in times of need. I would actively participate in something like this. All the best
