This happens on my M1 MacBook Air when plugged into a USB-C cable that's going to a display. It only goes on and off when it's off, when it's on, it charges (albeit slowly) via passthrough and displays on an external monitor. If it's just cable to wall, it doesn't happen. Not sure if that helps any, but I noticed similar behavior so figured I'd say something.

My 16 Max was delivered on 12/1 and I have not had this problem. I’m wondering if his was delivered close to launch and if it was a known issue and fixed shortly after.
I have the same problem. I was at the apple store to show this issue. Unfortunately, it then worked normally in the store when I tried to show the problem. At the "genius bar", an employee also assured me that this is not a known problem at all and sent me back home. At home I reconnected the macbook with the same charger and the problem reappeared.
This just started happening on my 14" and is barely 3months old bought brand new. I've done all those suggestions to no avail. I'm able to use a different USB-C cable on the mb power adapter and it charges so it seems it is the actual cable having the issue or perhaps maybe the actual magsafe port (I hope not) this is my 1st entry into the Apple ecosystem and I don't like that I have "any" issues already.
One solid pull from the actual cable is enough to break the internals of the magsafe. It can fail with even just one “accidental” tug, which it was designed to do but the cable strength can’t compete with the magnet strength. The way you rip the cable out the laptop by using so much force that you’re actually moving the laptop is more than enough to break the internals, as seen by you removing the cable at 4:04.. and then 5:02. This just screams “breaking your headphones so that u have to hold them a certain way to listen to the music” vibe.
Thank you so much.. You totally solved my problem.. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my macbook wasn't charging.. I twisted the cable a little and boom! It started to charge..Thank you! You're my hero..
I have the 14”. I charged it with the lid closed but the laptop was not off. Came back 2 hours later and the charging indicator was still orange (charging) when i opened the lid, it turned green (done). Thought that was weird but nothing major.
That happened to me with 14" M1 Pro. I think the problem of mine was I didn't charge it and battery drained after 1-2 days. When I plug the charge it blinked orange repeatedly and can't get power. I can't make it charge either lid open or closed. Did everything what apple said but nothing happened and suddenly when I plug with another charger of 16" MacBook, it suddenly start to get power.. So yeah, might be about software or battery but it was tough 3 days for me

Hey, new here: Got the new M1 Pro 16" Mac and haven't experienced this, as I'm like you, in that I don't usually completely shut down the Mac. But I do notice that while on and being used, my Mac charges up to 80% until it just stays there. I have to manually toggle the option "Charge to Full Now" to get to 100%. Probably intentional MacOS pro-battery measure, but I hope there's an option to disable. Nice video. Will subscribe. :)
This was fix in an update a week or so after this video was posted. They addressed it in the release notes, but it's nice to know they fixed it. Charging to 80% is good for longevity because charging constantly to 100% and then draining the battery isn't the best compared to 80%. It's similar for electric vehicles and how lithium batteries cells operate. All that being said, I disable it as well :) thanks for the sub
@@iScorpio1971 why tho? i contacted apple again today, they say the problem is recognised and examined it will probably be fixed with an update, or otherwise they'll setup a repair program

So hear what fixed for me. Get it enough charged using wall / other laptop / or your mobile charger. Then disconnect charger press power button for 15 seconds continuously. Then connect again your original charger directly from wall without shutting down lid. And it will start up. The issue I realise could be not enough power required to boot at launch, which we gave from somewhere else initially. Secondly the some unusual state persisted in cache or ram which we did reset using force shut using power button. So I was very upset as I couldn't afford apple warranty plans and I bought my new m2pro MacBook on emi with my salary. And apart from this issue the other I faced was speaker making some popping sound sometimes. However I never faced any issue ever when working on my company MacBook but has to happen with me. And yeah the speaker issue is the debris collected above the speaker inside the Macbook. I hope it will go away someday on its own or one day when I could afford a vacuum cleaner (I won't open the MacBook).
Just started for me on my Mac.. 😢 Catching up a few months late to everyone else’s charging issue. I’m not even finding a working solution yet. Going to try plugging usb-c direct into a power strip-instead of using the charging brick 🤞🏽 (Will try and come back to update this week)
You aren't supposed to pull the cable out of the laptop straight. You can just pull it in any direction other than "straight out", like pull upwards, and it will come off easily. If you keep pulling it straight, you are gonna break it eventually.
Hi. I got a MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro and I am facing this issue right from the first charge. Went to a service Center but they didn't acknowledge this issue. Then took a video of this problem and had a call with Apple Support. When they were unable to fix, they suggested to visit a service center again. Left it with them, now 2 days and no reply. Let's see if this issue is resolved.
Monterey has been causing serious memory issues on my 2016 MBP. In the past, I could have upwards of 40-50 tabs open no problem. The days, even 20 tabs is a problem. And i have to keep Mail off. If you can avoid Monterey, do so. It causes major memory leaks. Sometimes you can even use the machine for a 3-5 minutes. Happens several times a day.
I contacted apple support with the same problem. The service told me to turn the my mac off and on and off agian to fix the problem. Awkwardlly, the problem didn't go away. @@videos8770 does the magsafe light behave like i explained ? can u more precise ? and try with magsafe plugged in ( turn off any bluetooth keyboard or mouse or trackpad ) try to do a diagnostic on your mac, shut it off, then turnn it on with touch ID boutton but keep pressing until you see the restore menu , then press and hold command + D for diagnotic mode to launch and run it, just your macbook , nothigng plugged , expect for magsafe and turn off other accesories or i can't mess with dianostic mode.
My 14 inch macbook pro still had this problem. Not fixed as of june 2024
Happens with the m3 max too. This is dumb 🤦♂️
My 16 Max was delivered on 12/1 and I have not had this problem. I’m wondering if his was delivered close to launch and if it was a known issue and fixed shortly after.
I recived mine the 12/03 and it had the issue... Sent it back for a replacement. Hope the next one does not have this issue.
Can you please link to the desktop wallpaper?
It's Dynamic Wallpaper Engine on macOS
@@DayoAworunse yes ok thx but what’s the name of that particular collection/wallpaper please??

Hi
Now that you have both space grey and silver. Which colour is ur favourite?
Silver any day of the week. Glistens in the light better
I have an M2 and it has the same problem. :(
@DayoAworunse Which one will you be keeping, 16” or 14”?
Tough one, probably will go with the Air
I've started to have this issue as of today, after having upgraded to the 14.2
I have the 14”. I charged it with the lid closed but the laptop was not off. Came back 2 hours later and the charging indicator was still orange (charging) when i opened the lid, it turned green (done). Thought that was weird but nothing major.
Seems like the kinks need to be worked out a bit more with the indicator itself
There always been a loose area around 97-100% like that. Hard to say-but that may be by design.
@@arlencarlson that works be the case. But the MacBook was charged for over 2 hrs. So it was 100% 40 mins ago.
So yeah, might be about software or battery but it was tough 3 days for me
My m1 pro 16" MacBook also does this, never had this issue until I tried it now after seeing this video.
Lol that callout to the Genius Bar employee was hilarious. Also, finally watched the wind rises and cried so much 😭 damn that was a good one. Check out Violet Evergarden or Your Lie in April if you wanna cry some more.
I’ve heard your lie in April is tragic so here we go…
@@DayoAworunse zomg you're an anime fan? =-o And Your Lie in April is hella sad, but super good. Kevin, Kaze Tachinu aka The Wind Rises is awesome. Good choice.
@@DayoAworunse bruh I’ve been steering clear of those cuz I don’t wanna get in my feeling lol.
I have a charging issue as well with my M1 pro 16 inch, it doesn’t go beyond 39% to 40% and gives me an estimated time of 20 hours charging time….?!
Much love my brother! I enjoyed your video bro! Blessings Man!
My MacBook 2021 16” m1 pro, just black screen and died no charging at all even with a different charger, wondering if anyone has the same problem?
I got the same problem with M1 pro, any advice to solve this?
The latest macOS update resolved this issue
Have the same issue but on the 16' M1 Pro. Setup for a return...
Bettini A new one Wong fix the problem
@@noahvandenheuvel6836 if it doesn't fix the problem is not ready for prime time. Then I'll setup a return for a refund.
@@iScorpio1971 why tho? i contacted apple again today, they say the problem is recognised and examined it will probably be fixed with an update, or otherwise they'll setup a repair program
@@noahvandenheuvel6836 repair program, Okay. Why would I buy a defective product? If you're willing to deal with it that's fine too.
They want you to buy that apple cloth.
guys what about m2 macbook 16 inch same problem but the thing is that i changes the cable but still same problem and the problem happened when mac is run or off same flashing red lights sooo any solution u have guy's
Did you fixed it?
I just close down the lid all the time and no problem like you are talking about..
I hope it will go away someday on its own or one day when I could afford a vacuum cleaner (I won't open the MacBook).
bro 并不是你一个人无法使用苹果售后 他太贵了 我频繁出现这个问题 只要是重启都会出现
Just started for me on my Mac.. 😢
Catching up a few months late to everyone else’s charging issue.
I’m not even finding a working solution yet.
Going to try plugging usb-c direct into a power strip-instead of using the charging brick 🤞🏽
(Will try and come back to update this week)
You aren't supposed to pull the cable out of the laptop straight. You can just pull it in any direction other than "straight out", like pull upwards, and it will come off easily. If you keep pulling it straight, you are gonna break it eventually.
Thanks for the tip!

Any update?
the funny thing is.. they are saying that the new version of Monterey IS causing the issue !
MB 2021 charger blew a chip on the logic board. $800 AUD to fix it from third party. $1800 from Apple
my laptop has the same issue m1max 16 inch very strange !
try plugging it directly into the wall, no extension.
I contacted apple support with the same problem. The service told me to turn the my mac off and on and off agian to fix the problem. Awkwardlly, the problem didn't go away. And I found another new problem which is you can't use the front camera to record video using the photo booth app. Dayo if you don't mind you can make another video to re-appear this issue and bring attention to apple.
does the old magnetic charger work with these new macs?
With a $10 small adapter they sell, yes.
facing the same issue in m3 max
Tested, no problem with my MacBook Pro 16 inch M 1.
I have this same issue with the m1 max 14", But I just use USB-C to charge so not really an issue anymore.
well, maybe you should update it to the latest software.
