    Aight hold up, ain't no one going to talk about how you just pulled a second macbook out of a drawer in your kitchen? Am I the only one that was surprised? Like this man has his cutlery next to his macbook? Like let me grab a spatula and this computer for lunch, both equally important for a well balanced meal.

    I was facing same issue today, i lost the hope after seeing your issue, as my laptop is few years old and there is no longer any warranty on this. However after so many tries and blowing air through the USB-C plug many times, finally I took a small colouring brush and cleaned the internal pins, it started working again. But after 10 minutes problem recurred again. I think most likely internal pin is displaced or loose.

    From what I've read, under Monterey 12.0.0 fast charging wasn't an issue for owners, it seems to be for those who updated to 12.0.1 D: Some users have said as a temporary work around until a new firmware update is released that after turning off the battery optimization / battery health management feature the issue goes away. Let me know if this helps anyone that has this problem.. funly enough I have an old 2012 macbook pro that is in desperate need of an upgrade with the original magsafe that has no charging issues lol I have my eye on these new ones but don't want these sort of buggy issues considering the premium you pay for them :S Am eager to see if this fix works for people..

    This happens on my M1 MacBook Air when plugged into a USB-C cable that's going to a display. It only goes on and off when it's off, when it's on, it charges (albeit slowly) via passthrough and displays on an external monitor. If it's just cable to wall, it doesn't happen. Not sure if that helps any, but I noticed similar behavior so figured I'd say something.

    To reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on a Mac, you can try the following steps:
    Shut down your Mac
    Press and hold the following keys simultaneously:
    Shift: On the left side of the keyboard
    Control: On the left side of the keyboard
    Option (alt): On the left side of the keyboard

    Almost positive the issue is the 140 watt charging brick. If you have access to the 96 watt MagSafe charger, from the 14" MBP, try plugging that into the 16." I'm willing to bet that everything will work just fine which will confirm that the issue is the charger. The fact that Apple supports software workaround can provide a temporary fix also confirms that the issue is software. If it was hardware the software workaround would have no impact, not even a temporary one.

    Noticed this since launch, not stressing as I presume it is firmware related. May point to charger as well. I saw many reporting to apple with them suggesting replacement’s still had issues with new machines. I just use a 85 watt brick to usbc. What bugs me is that no way they didn’t know about it. I'm running Monterey 12.4 on my M1 Max 16", and just encountered this problem this week after 6 months of usage. The Mag Safe will not work, and I have never misused it like pulling the plug using the cord. I always pull plug only. Also it will not charge with the Apple Thunderbolt 4 in any of the 3 connection points. So for the heck of it I plugged in an off brand cable, and it worked, 100% battery! This just started happening on my 14" and is barely 3months old bought brand new. I've done all those suggestions to no avail. I'm able to use a different USB-C cable on the mb power adapter and it charges so it seems it is the actual cable having the issue or perhaps maybe the actual magsafe port (I hope not) this is my 1st entry into the Apple ecosystem and I don't like that I have "any" issues already.

  • @laughwithoutsmiling
    @laughwithoutsmiling 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One solid pull from the actual cable is enough to break the internals of the magsafe. It can fail with even just one “accidental” tug, which it was designed to do but the cable strength can’t compete with the magnet strength. The way you rip the cable out the laptop by using so much force that you’re actually moving the laptop is more than enough to break the internals, as seen by you removing the cable at 4:04.. and then 5:02. This just screams “breaking your headphones so that u have to hold them a certain way to listen to the music” vibe.

    That happened to me with 14" M1 Pro. I think the problem of mine was I didn't charge it and battery drained after 1-2 days. When I plug the charge it blinked orange repeatedly and can't get power. I can't make it charge either lid open or closed. Did everything what apple said but nothing happened and suddenly when I plug with another charger of 16" MacBook, it suddenly start to get power.. So yeah, might be about software or battery but it was tough 3 days for me

    Hey, new here: Got the new M1 Pro 16" Mac and haven't experienced this, as I'm like you, in that I don't usually completely shut down the Mac. But I do notice that while on and being used, my Mac charges up to 80% until it just stays there. I have to manually toggle the option "Charge to Full Now" to get to 100%. Probably intentional MacOS pro-battery measure, but I hope there's an option to disable.
    Nice video. Will subscribe. :)

    • @DayoAworunse
      @DayoAworunse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was fix in an update a week or so after this video was posted. They addressed it in the release notes, but it's nice to know they fixed it. Charging to 80% is good for longevity because charging constantly to 100% and then draining the battery isn't the best compared to 80%. It's similar for electric vehicles and how lithium batteries cells operate.
      All that being said, I disable it as well :) thanks for the sub

    So hear what fixed for me. Get it enough charged using wall / other laptop / or your mobile charger. Then disconnect charger press power button for 15 seconds continuously. Then connect again your original charger directly from wall without shutting down lid. And it will start up. The issue I realise could be not enough power required to boot at launch, which we gave from somewhere else initially. Secondly the some unusual state persisted in cache or ram which we did reset using force shut using power button.
    So I was very upset as I couldn't afford apple warranty plans and I bought my new m2pro MacBook on emi with my salary. And apart from this issue the other I faced was speaker making some popping sound sometimes. However I never faced any issue ever when working on my company MacBook but has to happen with me.
    And yeah the speaker issue is the debris collected above the speaker inside the Macbook. I hope it will go away someday on its own or one day when I could afford a vacuum cleaner (I won't open the MacBook).

    You aren't supposed to pull the cable out of the laptop straight. You can just pull it in any direction other than "straight out", like pull upwards, and it will come off easily. If you keep pulling it straight, you are gonna break it eventually.

      Monterey has been causing serious memory issues on my 2016 MBP. In the past, I could have upwards of 40-50 tabs open no problem. The days, even 20 tabs is a problem. And i have to keep Mail off. If you can avoid Monterey, do so. It causes major memory leaks. Sometimes you can even use the machine for a 3-5 minutes. Happens several times a day.
