When you mentioned the bridge to Sweden it reminded me of the tv series " The Bridge". Probably the best crime series I ever watched.

Søstrene Grene is now in 15 countries, which surprised me.
I recently saw a video from a city in Germany, and on a walking street, there was one of their stores.
They are even in Japan, according to Wikipedia.

Yeah, it is super cool. I did some work with them when I first arrived in DK and got to know the brand a bit. It is impressive how they were able to expand.

A few years back when Jack & Jones started sponsoring Kevin Magnussen in Formula 1, I was surprised that such a small Danish company could afford that kind of money.
A few months later I saw a video from Iran of all places. And there was a Jack & Jones store in the back of the video.
I knew they were in several countries around Denmark, but not that far.
So I looked it up and it turns out they have the most stores by any company in the world! Over 5000.
Sometimes things can completely surprise one. But I find it funny to sometimes dig into these kind of information. Not only for Danish stuff, but in general.

@@TravelinYoung I used to shop in their first shop in Århus back in the seventies. It was down an alley near Salling. Pretty nice. They later moved to much larger and less fun shop on the main pedestrian road.

0:44 - statue of Archbishop Absalon, founder of Copenhagen, head of the Danish clergy - and a general badass.... you want to meet our priest? Look for the guy with the battleaxe... LOL

That is super cool, I didn't know that. Now I want to learn a bit more about this fellow! I told Miranda a few months ago we should photograph statues around CPH and learn the history behind each subject. Perhaps I'll do that at some point.

I actually subscribe to a service that allows me to use royalty free music for videos. The service is called epidemic sound. The service is great and I'm always able to find something that suits the videos well. In this case I used:
Give Me by Humble Hey (there is a version with lyrics that I did not use for this)
One day I will do a video about my obsession with music, and this song fits right into my style. Super good!

Great idea, I think there’s a lot of american music unknown to most Europeans. Do you know the band “Pink Martini”?

    • @TravelinYoung
      @TravelinYoung  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@dkhandballfan I don’t, but I will listen to them today!
Lots of good American artists within my favorite genre (Americana Roots) typically come to Copenhagen or Malmo, I’ve seen a lot of my favs since moving here. Hopefully that will be able to resume sometime next year. My absolute favorite group is Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, give them a listen!

thats not only a roumor he did.
The reason it was build that way was so the the king Christian the IV could sit in a horse drawn coach and get to the top. ( he was older at the time and loved food and wine a bit to mutch so there was noway he could have walked up a lot of stairs to make it to the top) Grate video

There are no records of why the Round Tower was build with a ramp, but it was no doubt to make is easier to get instruments up to the observatory.

the toilets are staffed, and in addition to cleaning all day-evening, we are there to keep an eye on people can be at peace while they are there, we also make sure there are alcohol / soap / paper napkins and not least toilet paper, and it is worth a visit because they are from 1904 and much of the interior is from that time

Actually there are some really interesting parallel sidestreets to the pedestrian street. One of the areas even have the original bakery for Onsdags Sneglen! I recomend going to that bakery on a wedensday to pick up one of those bad boys.
And of course to have a look around the side streets. To one side there is another pedestrian area, and the other there is old roads where people more or less use those as sidewalks as well. Worth exploring the areas around there. As one living in Copenhagen, those are my favorite areas, and less traveled by tourists, which is a little sad because its where locals rather go :)
If you ever need, I'll gladly take you or fill you in what areas I mean.

Yes! Some of my favorite shops are on those side streets. There is a super quirky antique store that is close to Taproom that I love. And then of course Teutin & Koch where I get my modelling supplies. And Faros Cigarer near the Dom Kirke that has all the Viking costumes in the basement. So many hidden gems! - M
