It was Christmas at my house today, got my last order of books 9 in total. I can't wait to sew. On a sad note, I lost my job of 19 years today so any good thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated as I go down that road of getting a new job. Not easy when you're 67 years old.
Thank you for your tutorial on monochromatic quilts. Great tips and tricks, like the paint chips! One more reason why a monochromatic quilt might be desirable is when you make a lap quilt for a cancer patient. Everyone knows about pink for breast cancer, but I have gifted a grey one for a young man suffering with brain cancer, and a purple one for my cousin diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
I think I've watched (and rewatched) all your videos here on TH-cam; it's always good when you upload another video! I think you've become my favorite TH-cam Quilting Channel!
Yes it is. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE these quilts! I know that this is what I always seem to say, but every time you bring out a new video I really do feel this way! I guess you ladies are just so creative and have such fabulous ideas that it really does happen every single time: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. When I was growing up, my Mom and I use to go looking at show homes for fun. We saw many beautiful homes, but there is one that I still remember. It was a bungalow that was decorated in all pink. from the very lightest shade of pink, right one through the whole spectrum to a raspberry burgundy color. As soon as we walked through the front door we fell in LOVE, our first glance inside literally took our breath away, it was just stunning, exquisite, gorgeous ...and believe it or not, the Interior Decorator did such a magical job that I promise: guys would have liked it too. It wasn't a Barbie house, it was an understated, elegant, awe-inducing place. One day we happened to be driving by and a big-faced Basset hound was looking out the front window. I guess he loved it too. :-) All of your quilts and ideas during this video on monochromatic quilts definitely show how I could bring the idea home with me, if not that house. You even knew about the idea of using the paint strips that have the gradations of tone in one color. I just LOVE Fabric Cafe, If I forget to say it when the holiday arrives, "HAPPPY VALENTINES DAY to FABRIC CAFE!" 💝
The colors of the first teo examples were great! I’m a blue person too! But surprise! My favorite was the last quilt with the animal print. The black white and grey is so classy. It just fits regardless of age or whether you are boy or girl. I bet red borders on those blocks would make it pop ( but then it wouldn’t be monochromatic). Thanks for the color lesson.
I think the paint chips (is that the correct word?) is a great idea - I’ve known about them for years but just forget how really great they are for choosing colors! Thanks for the reminder!!!
Great tips you two, I love all of these quilts. Thanks for giving us such a variety of thoughts and samples of what can be done to get beautiful quilts.
Hello Donna and Fran, great video today on monochromatic color choices. I like all of the design quilts patterns that you chose today. Seeing it made indifferent monochromatic prints always looks great. Looking forward to the next video.
I love the new little popup tips! Great post production video editing! lol Love all your videos and I am such a fan of your quilts. They are so easy to put together and fast. I just bought the two new books so I have the complete set. I love the monochromatic quilt designs! Such a great way to focus on a color but to show all these beautiful fabrics!
I enjoyed this video so much! I love monochromatic! The quilts are so beautiful that I could have watched for hours. The tip of using a paint sample card is great. Also enjoy videos with Fran and Donna.💕
OMG y'all, the Harmony pattern made up in the fabulous Fresh Air grouping, reminded me immediately of a huge aquamarine on a pedestal from a gems museum. Gorgeous!! I'm betting you're going to look at it again. lol
Great show on the monochromatic. I did the Curio Pattern shown and bought 4 kits at the Houston Quilt Fest. It’s always great watching you. I love the kits you showed.
Always good information. Love the samples you gave of monochromatic quilts, love them all, even the blue which is not my fave, but very beautiful. Good job, ladies.
Hi Ladies, I’m always excited to see your new tutorials. This one is fantastic! Love the monochromatic look. You mentioned an alternate pattern of ‘Tumbling Triangles’. I couldn’t find it on your website. Is it in one of your books? I’d love to get a downloadable version of it. It looks awesome. ❤
The Time Machine pattern could be made easier and faster to make the Hourglass block like Jenny from the MSQ Co, fast Hourglass instead of all the Half Squares.

Lots of quilting tone as you look for a new position.
Prayers and good thoughts... it's tough to lose a job at anytime, but at 67 and a 19 year investment of your time and loyalty...
So sorry for the job loss. Prayers for you Barbara. Enjoy the time you have to quilt.
Sending prayers for you for a new job
Oooo - I like the quilt using the blacks!

Tumbling Triangles is temporarily off of our Web site. If you watch all our videos, we will tell you why in just a few days....
Who makes the Fresh Air fabric please?
It is from P&B Textiles. The line is Sola Solace.
A neutral monochomatic is what i really want to do for myself

Yes, there are many ways to make different blocks. This is just the way we do ours for this pattern. Thanks for sharing!
