I know it's a joke, but if the computer would only see winning outcomes minus one, it would be very ignorant about the potential to lose or draw. Especially draws. With the way forcing moves work in chess, it seems very unlikely the computer would win virtually always. A good player (read: top 50 rated player) will have good chances of drawing against Komodo I'd say. Winning is perhaps a different matter, but it would mean the computer has to be aware of whatever draws as well. Avoiding a draw is extremely dependent of what your opponent plays. With pinning pieces, knight forks and king checks, it's actually fairly hard to avoid draws when the human player doesn't blunder.

One part that I think was correct and relevant was the difference between engine and human play: Moves considered “mistakes” in engine matches might not be considered mistakes in human play. Humans need to be able to recognize a move as a mistake and exploit it, but some of these engine “mistakes” are extremely subtle and would even be considered strong moves in human games. I don’t think Komodo is going to make a mistake Hikaru could recognize as such and be able to punish... at least not when running at full strength on a powerful computer and with sufficient time to calculate.

For those who haven't tried playing against an engine, it is ridiculously hard. Even when I start in +5 or better positions, the engine beats me in like 15 different ways (because whenever I lose I go back to try to find different moves). They are just insanely good at chess.
i just experimented with this against Stockfish. Without a Queen; ez pz Without rook; very hard Without a bishop and I play white; ridiculously hard - but I still got it after many games! (im like 1800)
