All aircraft have wing and wheel so is copied, you expect China to built aircraft like tank and no wing and how on earth is going create lift and then fly.
Excellent video. The analysis section made me laugh. "aircraft never says, I cannot transport the cargo because I am just a copy". and the design is hilarious.
Fun fact, China ordered around 80 IL76 from Russia in the earlier 2000s, due to the production line issue, they canceled the orders and returned the down payment with D30 engines. 😂😂
It’s only superficial similarities on the outside. A lot of planes with similar roles will look the same. For example, you can’t take a part from the Y20 and use it on the C17. This analysis is amateurish 😅
Actually the design owes a lot more to Antonov, the AN-70 ( Forward fuselage and cockpit) and Illushin, the IL-76 (wing planform, engines and mounting pylons, but not the control surfaces) the tail looks a bit like a Mashup of the C-17 and IL-76.
Another wonderful video was shared by an excellent ( weapon 🕵️♀️ 🕵️♂️) channel, video about Xian Y -20 Kunpeng airplane..video clearly explained all its characteristics and its military transportation capabilities...thank you 🙏 ( weapon defective) channel for sharing
You're right brother. If anything, claims of Y20 copying should be attributed to its original lineage IL-76 since China procured them in bulk and didn't have access to C-5 and C-17s.
The Y-20 and C-17 both have underwing engines, the C-17 uses jet flaps, and the Y-20 uses conventional large-area flaps. As the core design of an aircraft, the wings of these two transport aircraft are different. Before you say that the Y-20 plagiarizes the C-17, would you like to use your brain to do some homework?
They copy because the US sets a standard so thats what they doing. All cargo have the wings mounted up high and a T-tail. The engines look more like the IL-76 uses with a front fuselage looks like a 787 Dreamliner in the front fascia.
What's even to say about this aircraft? It hauls stuff. It needs better engines. It has flown to Serbia. It can be the basis of other specialized aircraft. What else is there to say?
The Chinese are very developed, the community of G-7 states (777 million inhabitants) is already in ruins and will soon be just a bad memory, the community of BRICS states (4.5 billion inhabitants) has incredible resources and unlimited energy, they have the latest innovations too, they have the future. (NATO has no chance if this Anti-NATO community with 4.5 billion citizens forms its own united military community) 🤔
I am hearing the same for more than a decade that Chinese are copying the highly sensitive American defence hardware. Btw what are American defence companies doing to stop it? Any plans?
Intellectual property violations between superpower countries and armies don't exist. Every country does spying and espionage. Only weak countries cannot do what China does so they can only complain and cope. If you're strong you will defend your systems and technology from espionage. Otherwise you can only cry. That's the name of the game.
Obviously the engines are from the 60ies with low bypass ratio. If they can refit with at least 80ies engines they can use the free room from less fuel consumption to give the market a viable low cost alternativ to western transport planes. Before they can produce a plane on par with western planes, they need to develop a modern engine. Not sure if they made any progress though. The J20 engine is an old concept from the CF56.

Soviet aircraft were designed in Russia and produced in ukraine. There were a lots of ukrainian engineers moved to China after the 2000s, however they were all from eastern ukraine, because thats where the military industrial complex were. It was the current ukrainian government ended all the collaborations.
Like most of its other weaponries, Y-20 LOOKs better than it is. Just look at its engine spec/performance and the the configuration of how the engines are mounted in related to the flaps ... let alone those interior / avionics we couldn't see... it looks like C-17 from distance but the capabilities are far behind comparing with C-17.
@@jahidjesan2067 Short version: Compared to the C-17, the is Y-20 is smaller, has a lower internal volume, carries 11t less over the same unrefuelled distance (Y-20 has no in-flight refuelling ability), cruising 200kph slower with a relatively limited short/rough field performance and a relatively poor 'hot and high' performance. China's build themselves an improved Il-76MD-90 with some asthetics of the C-17-- and there's nothing wrong with that, the Y-20/Il-76 are very useful aircraft, but they're not in the same class as the C-17. Comparing the Y-20 to the C-17 is like comparing a C-130J to the A400M.
