Many actors play every part the same way. The actor is more recognizable than the characters. Emily is not that, she creates each character bigger than herself. Emily is movie making royalty. Also, she's and absolute doll, love her.
Fr, i always remember her role name in those movies because her role is good and perfectly stuck in our memory, and that’s why me sometimes can’t remember her real name 😂😅 but after see her face im like “omg yes emily now I remember”
I remember Julie Andrew’s as Mary Poppins. And I can absolutely understand how she must have been terrified. But she did an amazing job! She didn’t try to do Julie Andrew’s doing Mary Poppins, she made the role her own! It was an absolute pleasure to watch.
My favorite character played by her is Rita Vrataski , Edge of tomorrow was a masterpiece , She and Tom Cruise did such a good job in this movie , i love how many emotions she can feel playing her characters
She did such a good job with Girl on a Train. Quite a convincing portrayal of an alcoholic. Most actors overdo that type of role. I also really loved her in Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon. Underrated movie.
Agree with Adjustment Bureau. Love it! Something about Girl on the Train felt flat and disappointment. The text felt more grimy and more....British really. Shame they moved it
The Devil Wears Prada, Sunshine Cleaning, Young Victoria, The Wolfman, Adjustment Bureau, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Looper, The Wind Rises, Edge of Tomorrow, Sicario, & Oppenheimer all have wonderful Emily Blunt performances.
Glad you included the Adjustment Bureau. She was spectacular in it & it was one of the first times I fell in love with a character. With her performance, you could truly feel her joy, pain & heartbreak.
That's right, I keep forgetting about Sunshine Cleaning! I already adored her in Prada, but that movie sealed the deal for me and I fell in love with her. Been a forever fan ever since 😍 (Been meaning to finally see Adjustment Bureau though, I need to get on that lol)
@@Akshay-tq6zk I've been hearing news about it since 2015 but nothings been confirmed. Their initial plan was to make a prequel with young Rita Vratski.
@@Akshay-tq6zk*correction* they’ve been TRYING to make a sequel for years. Scheduling conflicts and Tom’s busy slate gets in the way. We’ll see if it ever happens
She’s one the most talented people in Hollywood. She’s beautiful, she can sing, she can act, she’s fucking hilarious, she’s done action movies… and outside of that when you see her or people mention her she’s like the NICEST people in the world. I hope nothing for the best for this woman and she’s got my support
I can completely understand why Emily got so giddy when she was quoting one of her lines from "The Devil Wears Prada": this film is what catapulted Emily's career to new heights and made her a household name. Even more surprising is that the film ended up introducing Stanley Tucci to Emily's sister Felicity. Stanley met Felicity at Emily's wedding to John Krasinski in 2010; later on he and Felicity married in 2012, so he and Emily are in-laws. At the time they met; Stanley was extremely reluctant to start dating again because it had only been a few months after his first wife Kathryn had died from breast cancer.
She missed only voice over lines. Actually being in the scene makes things more memorable! Just being in front of a mic, you can basically read the lines instead of memorizing. Makes sense. I do hope they do this with other actors. This is rather fun to see!
How bout her role of the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods! I hadn’t realized how much she’s really been in wow, what a difference she makes playing each character :)
love her comment on what 'most people do' in gyms: ...which is wander around and checking their phone 😂 Emily is a great actress and a most likable soul 🫶
She owns "playing a badass female without beeing written as a mary sue" and her acting is always onpoint. Shes among the top 10 female actors of all time imho.
She’s openly admitted that if she’s handed a script with the description of her (or any character) being “strong independent female” or that sort of thing that she just straight up says no. She wants characters with depth
Besides obviously how talented and gorgeous she is, I can hear her talk all day I love her accent and the way she sounds so elegant. I wish I can talk like her lol
I was actually waiting, hoping and expecting one of the lines to be from The Huntsman, one of my favorite movies from her, she did amazing as the Ice Queen.
While rewatching, "Agatha Christie's Poirot" on BritBox, a young Emily Blunt came across my screen!! 😲 She played "Linnet" for the episode movie, "Death on the Nile". I think her character snubbed Hercule Poirot played by David Suchet. For any future flashbacks, add a scene from this series! Thank you, Ms. Blunt!
Love this! She is is a great teller. She said something fascinating about every character, role. Now I need to watch the movies that I didn't watch from this
Admittedly proud of myself for knowing the Oppenheimer line after seeing it one time but then again it was my absolute favorite line from her. So much truth and strength from her character in that scene and totally badass! I also particularly loved her performance during a moment toward the end of the story in their back yard I think it was. She understands nuance and subtlety and delivers so much with seemingly very little. Brilliant job, beautifully crafted film.
I love how versatile she is! Emily Blunt is one of the best actors in the entire world. When you see her in Edge of Tomorrow and The Devil Wears Prada you can't say that it's the same person, it's completely different. Just love her.
Watching her explain her roles so eloquently is always amazing to see! Such big range for an actress and surprised she's not given more roles in the industry!! 🥹🖤
I would imagine she probably _is_ offered more roles but is particular about which ones she takes based on the character and also her personal time :) ...Such a beautiful talent and lovely woman!
I feel the need for a film with Emily Blunt and Emma Thompson as the leads. Dramatic or comedic, I don't care. I just need that combination of talents in my life.
A couple of the ones selected here were from her early years and not major enough to note (like the old TV film Boudaca - her recent acclaimed TV series The English should've been here instead). It should've included more of her iconic and major films and roles. Apart from Oppenheimer, Devil Wears Prada, Edge of Tomorrow, A Quiet Place, Mary Poppins, there's also Sicario, The English, Into The Woods, Looper, The Young Victoria, The Huntsman, and her first film My Summer of Love too, where she also had some great lines.
My wife and I love Emily she is one of our favorite actors. I just call her "angel of Verdun" anytime she's in a new movie lol. "Honey, new movie with the Angel of Verdun!"😂
This is hilarious to me because it really underlines the variance of her filmography. I once talked about how much I liked her to a guy and we compared movies and there was maybe one movie we had both seen.
So happy to hear my fav actor speak about anything! #giveheranOscarlikeyesterday But also the fact that one of these is "The Five Year Engagement" is AMAZING! Imo it's a top 5 romcom, which may be a hot take, but her & Jason Segel are sweet, chaotic delight together. Also it's a genuine comedy, which if you think about it is rare for the genre.
