- Welcome to my first ever vlog! This is my first week as a newly qualified NICU nurse, I am a graduate Registered Nurse ( RN ) on the NMC register and was a student at the University of Nottingham for 3 years, graduating with a BSc with Honors.

I'm currently doing my access course with my initial end goal of midwifery but since starting access I'm starting to gear towards neonatal nurse. So glad I've come across your vlogs!!! I'm definitely wanting to do nicu now
I actually did 3 year midwifery & qualified last year but then decided to work in the NICU crurrently doing my preceptorship in NICU REALLY enjoying it and don’t regret leaving midwifery. I would advise u do nursing first cos u can do 18 months top up to become a midwife later if u wanted to. Wish you all the best you all the best in ur career

I qualify next summer and nicu is something I have been intrested but always thought pediatric nurses would prioritised over adult nurses and that nqn couldn't work nicu so that gives me hope that you can. You have been really helpful.

Ahhhh i love this! So glad you're enjoying it :) do they have a different observation scoring system on NICU?
Thankyou so much, we still use the early warning score (EWS) however the parameters are very different and also we have pain, sedation and Glamorgan scores which are specific to neonates x

Did you have to take specific training to be a NICU nurse? I’m doing children’s nursing at university next year and wanted to know the steps to become a NICU nurse afterwards
Did you have to pay extra for the NHS fleece or did it come as part of your uniform?x

As an American nurse, what's with the dresses as uniforms??
I think it’s from old tradition here as nurses were typically only women and used wear the same dresses, they’re made of scrub material too though
