    Nice video full of tips. Looks like the joists are 16" on center, but composite needs to be 12" cause it flexes more

      Not the new composite. 16 is fine

      12” only required when diagonally placed, if perpendicular 16” is acceptable.

    Do you ever use carriage bolts?

    • @janking2762
      @janking2762 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You can but there are various screws that meet code and are faster to install. No pre drilling needed.

    Shouldn’t the 4x4 blocking behind the post be fastened to the I’m joist?

    I believe this is the third of your videos I've used this month for repair projects on our new (old) home. Please keep making videos you've got a great instructional style.

    I'm a perfectionist, so I would have Counter Sunk all the Visible Exterior Holes. Only thing I would have done different. Otherwise, Great Work! 💪💪👊🇺🇲🇺🇲

    "Wah !!!! Those screws are soooo expensive...." We older guys could care less about the price. We do our best to do it once. A deck this size?...what the difference in price using extra screws? Fifty buck? LOL

    Why didn’t u use post for railing directly from ground in order to save time n make it much stronger? But this is also strong enough

    I'm trying to understand the reason for the extra chunk of 4x? I've also been trying to doodle the 3 conditions and how attachment works for the other 2 as this corner setup is well understood. Are there videos of the other 2 conditions (parallel and perpendicular to the joists)? Love the idea of the above deck cleat for setting depth. Looking to do this in a retrofit for a deck that has no railing. The good news is we have full access under the deck as it is elevated a few feet.

    The corner post was of course, perfectly plumb. Useful would be to see how it was handled when the post was NOT plumb.

    Thank you for the video and What size drill bit and what type of 10” lag bolts are you using ?

    • @getitdonehomerepair
      @getitdonehomerepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a 1/8 inch drill bit and the bolts are called Timberlok lag bolts or Headlok lag bolts.

      @eddiejanekjr6381 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so very much for the quick and prompt reply and I will see if I can find a 1/8 inch drill bit that’s 10 to 12 inches long at HD!
