Kenny had the most fascinating musical journeys ever. Starts out trying to be a teen idol; becomes a bass player in a Jazz Band ; joins a Folk Group; that morphs into a Psychedelic Pop Group; and then successful Pop Country solo Star.
The storytelling in the song is truly masterful. The man is painting a picture with each lyric. R.I.P. Kenny, man cashing in his chips in March 2020. The man truly knew when to fold 'em.
The painting was so vivid, the song couldn't contain it. They made not just one movie, but several. Just The Gambler, not counting other Kenny songs, like Coward of the County.
Coward of the County is a great story-telling song and some slow beautiful songs are definitely Lady(needs to be 1st, Lionel Richie wrote it) and then She Believes In Me, You Decorated My Life and Through the Years..love y`alls reactions!
Have you watched the movie? It's not good quality but I had to buy it after the 100 times I watched him on TBS beat the shit out of those brothers...kinda like Convoy...that's another amazing damn movie
That warm, positive feeling you talk about that this song leaves you with... I've felt it is hope. An old gambler crosses paths with a young gambler down on his luck and the young gun gets a piece of advice that he can always keep with him to keep himself from being down on his luck in the future.
I am amazed how you guys are giving your reactions to all my favorite country songs. Listening to all these and imaginging ... are what one would feel and discuss with close buddies.
Without even seeing your reaction I will say this. The song is far more than knowing how to actual gamble. It is telling you a life lesson. In life, you have to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. Life is a poker hand. Gotta read people and know when to stand your ground and when to walk away.
Life is all about it. Knowing when to call a bluff, or when to back down. Knowing when to move on from what you're doing and when not to. And knowing exactly when it's time to imitate a bat out of hell. And to never assume what you're 'sure you're gonna get' is what you will end up having when it's all said and done... until you're actually holding it.
You guys are awesome another great reaction Tasha is adorable she reminds me of my oldest daughter it's been a long time since I've listened to any of this music that you guys have been listening to but following you guys makes it a lot of fun thank you guys
You two are addictive. I just found you and can’t stop watching. I love this journey. By the way...I love your accent! I’m right next to you in South Carolina.
I'm watching these reaction videos very often but this is the first time I have started to follow a page. You are really nice couple, full of positive energy, and both music lovers. Keep on beeing like this. And for Kenny Rogers, I have been a fan for 40 years. And a request, John Denver, My Sweet Lady or Perhaps love
The Gambler... We're all gamblers in this game of life. Watch what you do, eat, drink, where you step, sleep, who to love, hate, miss, etc. Have fun in life and don't worry about negatives hav fun because when all is said and done... you can reminisce afterwards.
The Gambler! One of the songs that inspired a TV movie by the same name, and starring Kenny! Gotta find that and check it out! Another song that had a TV movie made was Coward Of The County, also starring Kenny, which is even better.
He knew when to fold em he died right at the beginning of the covid lockdown RIP💜 And don't You worry about the haters of Your accent trust me they're jealous!!! My favorite thing to do is go up north and talk I immediately get everyone's attention most people love a southern twang!
@@stevep2380 I prefer the final, recorded version, after Kenny and Lionel got it the way they wanted it. Back then, they didn't re-record. they went in and did it all in 1 take. Was great. Even better on vinyl because you get that little poppy sound you only get from a record player.
Since you're on a country music journey, I would recommend throwing some Reba McIntire into the mix. I would say that Fancy and The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia are probably her most iconic songs.
Reba handles The Night the Lights Went Out in GA very well, and I love the way she sings it. It is not one of her iconic songs, though. She had to get permission from Vicky Lawrence to sing it, as it was Vicky's iconic song.
@@kimkearney5419 Between both version's - I feel Reba's is the better of the two. The song just goes with Reba's voice better then Vicky's ; not taking anything away from Vicky though.
I was a fan of Country Music starting at 8 yrs old (that I can remember)(1978) This is one of them that you would hear on the bus going to school. In fact I think it is one our music teacher had us singing. I miss "Classic" Country. That and songs like Grandma's Feather Bed. Edit: You would think I would remember (maybe. my memory does not cooperate) if I heard that Kenny died, so maybe I didn't. That is another hard one to swallow.
I love most old school country music they tell you life lessonsI love most old school country music they tell you life lessons Of course it when I was a kid back in eighties and nineties country music was ridiculed teased know that fun stuff I always loved country music
Kenny Rogers was in a group called The First Edition. They had a couple big songs, Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) and Ruby. Both are great.
Gosh that lady is so beautiful, and that vice is like hearing an Angle! Great Tune!! He also made a for T.V. Movie Of this song! I love the county southern speak. It’s down right gentle and classy. Don’t listen to those city fools. R.I.P. KENNY!
Wonderful reaction. I have listened to this song since i was about 11 or so. I am now 50 going to be 51 in Dec. "Story" songs have always been my very favorite type - regardless of music style. A song to consider for a video is Sawyer Brown's - 800 Pound Jesus. Also Josh Turner's - Long Black Train.
My first two albums I got for my record player was Kenny Rogers and Elvis. One of my all time favorite artists. Saw him in concert twice! Just as awesome in person! My mom had the biggest crush on him and my stepdad even looked like him!
Kenny Rogers as an actor, he played a character named Brady Hawkes in a series of television movies that was inspired by the song. The movies aired on CBS and NBC starting in 1980 to 1994, five movies in total.
You two are as cute as buttons. I love watching you both listen to these country songs. It’s like I’m discovering them again through you. I remember listening to this song when I was a little girl and learning a few things about cards and life!
You too are the most adorable couple ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed!
I totally agree with you.
Truth.
Absolutely agree! I love them!!
it proves all lives matter, and music can bring all races together.
Kenny was another great storyteller. That growl in his voice is unique and unforgettable. He’s greatly missed.

The Gambler is a metaphor for life.
Coward of the County by KR..... great tune..
They 💯 have to do a reaction to coward of the county
Yes I was thinking the same thing! Coward if the County is much better then this song any this is a great song!!
Lady by Kenny is beautiful.
A few more from him to listen to...Lady, She Believes In Me, Dont Fall in Love with a Dreamer
Kenny had the most fascinating musical journeys ever. Starts out trying to be a teen idol; becomes a bass player in a Jazz Band ; joins a Folk Group; that morphs into a Psychedelic Pop Group; and then successful Pop Country solo Star.
👍❤️
Learned to play bass on a stand-up "double" bass in traditional blues style while in the jazz band.
Thanks for this background ~ I only knew him as a country star.
Record company didn't want to sign him as a solo artist, said his carrier was done and over with but Larry Butler had already signed him.
All the best ones do?
The storytelling in the song is truly masterful. The man is painting a picture with each lyric.

Cashing in right before the start of Covid
You must continue the story telling with "The coward of the County". And then dive into his famous love song written by Lionel Richie for Kenny "Lady"
as a guy from TX, Ark. and Mississippi, I love your accent and understand you perfectly
This song is a nice warm piece of humble pie.
Love the reaction , next I think should be Kenny Rogers - Coward Of The County . You will love it 100% for sure.
I think Coward of the County by Kenny Rogers will definitely bring a tear to your eyes. Please react to that.
Yeah that’s a good one
Yes!

Coward of the county is my karaoke song😁
Guys, a very powerful song/story is: Ruby, Don’t take your love to town.
About a Vietnam vet.
Yes! Ruby!
Reuben James is a really good one, too.
The cuteness factor of you two is awesome
Great Kenny Rogers story song "Lucille"
What a lot of people have forgotten is he was in a band called Kenny Rogers and the first edition
What I love about this song, is it's a metaphor for life.
Another legend taken to soon
These are metaphors for life as well
The song is the song.
But the reaction was couple goals.
Nice jobs kids.
KR- Coward of the County. Great story telling song and just a great song by the late KR. Thanks for the Gambler reaction guys!!!
That warm, positive feeling you talk about that this song leaves you with... I've felt it is hope. An old gambler crosses paths with a young gambler down on his luck and the young gun gets a piece of advice that he can always keep with him to keep himself from being down on his luck in the future.
Try Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town. You'll love it.
Yep ❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the greats. Miss him so much. Unique voice!
I agree about the song having a warm, positive feeling. Like "Everything in life will be alright"
Great reaction! Kenny rogers is one of those artist everyone loves , no matter the kind of music your into, he is just so good!

Ruby Don’t Take Your Love To Town is a great story and Kenny at his AMAZING best!

Way to extend patience and compassion to your lady Amigo. Our ladies do their best and we love them for it. Kudos.

Coward of the County and Lucille. Two of my favorites by Kenny Rogers. And someone mentioned "She Believes in Me" in the chat. Fantastic song!
One of those songs that transcends genres. It's that good
Great song! You guys are great. Try Lucille by Kenny. Btw Tasha, your accent is great!
one of the greatest story tellers ever
Classic Kenny Rogers! He’s got that raspy voice! Had the privilege of seeing him in concert back in the 80’s! Will never forget that EVER!
I forgot how much I love these songs I grew up with. I’m from Tennessee so I took country music for granted.
I saw him and Dolly in concert as a kid, in a small in Georgia
You guys are awesome another great reaction Tasha is adorable she reminds me of my oldest daughter it's been a long time since I've listened to any of this music that you guys have been listening to but following you guys makes it a lot of fun thank you guys
Love you guys, love this reaction! I grew up listening to Kenny, he was an amazing artist!
The song "Lady" will make a forever mark in your heart !!!
Kenny's voice is the warmest thing. He's sexy as hell, too! Saw him on his final tour. Such a performer.

Love or Something LIke It....another Kenny Rogers treasure
The song was used in several TV shows through the years, but the most recent was Rogers himself singing it during a Geico commercial.
This granny from NC loves your accent!
Great reaction to another classic from a simpler time
It's great to see you guys as a couple doing this stuff. Having fun together only makes you stronger and better as a couple. Stay great ALWAYS!
