Thanks for this video. You mentioned that some settings might break the site. Reason for backing up. But if site breaks, does it identify the reason for breaking? Because if you have to resort to restoring backed up version, results on GTmetrix suffer. Is it clear what I'm saying?
Hi Rodrigo, Unfortunately, when a setting causes problems or breaks the site you don't see a message saying what it is. Luckily, the plugin doesn't permanently change anything on your site. So you shouldn't need to restore anything, just turn off the plugin or turn off some of the settings you're applying. The only way to know if a specific setting is causing problems so it turn settings on one at a time and see if it causes problems on the site. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! The big thing that WP Rocket doesn't do is optimize images or scale them automatically for you. If that's a problem on your client's site, that could bring them under 2 seconds. Check out this video: th-cam.com/video/RrPeZHHvwNU/w-d-xo.html I'm pretty sure ShortPixel is still on Appsumo. They'll be off there soon. Your client could get it or you could and resell the optimization service to them for monthly fee. Just sent ideas :)

Also in the other comment you had mentioned you are not using the SG optimiser plugin but in the link you have shared it is mentioned that sg optimiser has to be installed and memached enabled in that to use with wordpress! Can you please confirm the settings you are using? Thanks
I can confirm that you don't need to have SG optimizer running and I don't on my sites. I only have memcach running in SG. I hope that helps and thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any further questions!
Can you guide me how to reset plugin settings?? or how to make deleted plugin start from fresh/new??? Basically I wan to restore all pages created by plugin and it's setting which was default.....
Hey Peter, You’ve been able to use WebP on WordPress for a while using image compressions plugins like ShortPixel and their CDN. As of WordPress 5.8 (I think), which was released a few months ago, you can upload WebP to the WP media library. I demo it at 13:05 in this video: m.th-cam.com/video/OCiKyj9E448/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Hey Peter, I found this passage on the 5.8 WebP release page that may shed some light: “WebP support in the media library requires that your web server’s image processing library (WordPress supports both Imagick and LibGD) supports the WebP format. Fortunately these libraries have supported WebP for quite a while so support is widely available. If your web server does not support WebP, you will see an error message when you try to upload a WebP image.” Source: make.wordpress.org/core/2021/06/07/wordpress-5-8-adds-webp-support/
@@wplearninglab purchased Wp-Rocket plugin in 13 June 2019 for my website domain anjumanara. When I set up this plugin, I saw my website speed has been increasing. But now I have been suffering some problem. 1. When enable caching for mobile devices, the site is not working properly on mobile. 2. If disable this option, my site is working properly but site speed is very much slow on mobile. It is 5 - 7 on mobile. But desktop mode is good. 3. After using the plugin, site is not open by 1st click. Site is properly open after 4-5 click. Now how can I fix this problem. My Wp-Rocket plugin is 3.3.5.2 version and use Theme 7 for my website.
I a site and I have used everything from assets cleanup to autoptimize plugin but my site is still not where I want it to be. Yes, I am using a page builder WPBakery. My remaining issues are only using above the fold css and eliminating render-blocking resources. I also am using a plugin to combine css and js. But combing css causes layout issues. Also using GTMetrix and I have google analytics and facebook pixel urls in my headers and they are causing low scores on minimize redirects and leverage browser caching. Please let me know what I can do. Thank you.
Hey Hero, You can solve most of those things with using scripts you find online, probably on Stackoverflow. You can also take care of all those things at once using WP Rocket. Not all optimization techniques work on all websites, so if you find that combining CSS causes layout issues, then you can't do that on your site. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Work perfect for me thank you for the tutorial one thing I was suggested those that having errors make sure you're logged out of your administrator site when you're doing the speed test sign out of everything I just put your URL in there for your website to test it before you say it's not working
Hi Dylan, sorry for the delay. I don't use WP Rocket and SGO together on a hunch that it wouldn't make a difference. But I'll make a video doing some speed tests to see if using both has any benefit. Thanks for the suggestion!
The settings apply to whichever WordPress install WP Rocket is installed on. If you have WP installed on your main domain and it has WP Rocket installed, then WP Rocket will optimize that site. If you have WP installed in sub domains of the main domain that has WP Rocket installed, then WP Rocket will not apply to the sub domains. If you’re creating your sub domains using the WP Multisite functionality, then it’s a different story. Check out this documentation page for more info on that: docs.wp-rocket.me/article/874-how-to-use-wp-rocket-in-a-multisite-environment I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Just wonder how you integrate the annual cost of something like WPRocket into a client's fee? Do you incorporate into hosting costs, bill specifically...? Thanks.
Hi Andy, I bundle it into a package. Most client's don't want to micromanage what they receive. Normally I say this is the "standard" package and this is what you get: hosting, speed optimization, security, etc. Just list whatever is in the package. The other option is to have them buy the license and just charge for service and maintenance on their site. That makes for a much cleaner setup that will make the "break up" process easier, if it every happens. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
@@wplearninglab Thanks Bjorn. I have an existing client, an Acting group (which my wife used to be a member of), who have asked for a new website to be built so I wanted to offer a package including Elementor Pro and perhaps something like this to assist site speed. They want to manage their own site so if I had as comprehensive a package as possible it would be ideal. I'll have to check out the Elementor Pro templates too.
WP Rocket does much more than caching. I host on Siteground right now and I use their server-side caching. I use WP Rocket for it's browser-side caching, minification and deferred loading options. I use ShortPixel for image optimization and adaptive images, which are made even better with WP Rocket's lazy load options for images. Long story short, I use all of those things plus a CDN through ShortPixel. You should check out AppSumo right now. ShortPixel is on there with a great life-time deal ;) I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
@@wplearninglab THAT'S qhy I mentioned it haha, I was just yesterday promoted it by Wpcrafter and about to get I reckon 2 codes)) Do you think 2 codes will be enough for like 6 stores with 4000 images and 3 variations? Any idea how to get rid of additional images that Astra theme creates? I still must mention someone had a conflict between Shortpixel server caching and WP Rocket one. That's my concern. Imagine it's gonna go through THREE servers - your host, Shortpixel and Wp Rocket....Will it make a counter affect?
I think you mean the 4,000 images are spread across the 6 stores, rather than 4,000 images in each store. With 3 variations each that's 16,000 images and the 2 codes on Appsumo is 24,000 images per month. So, even if for some reason the two codes wasn't enough to optimize all your images in the first month, you'll have 24,000 more optimizations the next month. So you'll be covered. With two codes you also have 200GB CDN bandwidth every month. How much of that bandwidth you use will depend on how much traffic you have on your stores. I haven't looked into the extra images on Astra, but WordPress makes them by default as well. I assume you mean the extra images that are created from every image you upload. I found this helpful blog post about turning that functionality off: mythemeshop.com/blog/how-to-prevent-wordpress-from-generating-image-sizes/ . I'll probably make a video tutorial for it as well. I haven't run into any conflict problems with Shortpixel and WP Rocket, but I'm always careful not to turn on overlapping functionality in different plugins. Here's the caching option I have turned on in SIteground: www.siteground.com/tutorials/supercacher/memcached/ . That speeds up a lot of server-based activities the site does. Then WP-Rocket handles the browser caching of pages. And Shortpixel I have for image optimization and the CDN. I haven't run into any problems, probably because each one is set to do different things...specifically, the things each does well. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
According to this SP help page you can have both running and there shouldn't be any conflicts: shortpixel.helpscoutdocs.com/article/179-shortpixel-adaptive-images-vs-shortpixel-image-optimizer . But in the same post they don't recommend running both together. I think where the big issue comes in is when SP Image Optimizer optimizes an image it uses a credit and then the image is optimized forever. On the other hand, when Adaptive Images optimizes an image on-the-fly when a visitor comes to your site, that optimized image will cost a credit will be cached in the CDN for 30 days. After that 30 day period, that image will have to be optimized again which costs another credit. To make matters worse, if your CDN bandwidth runs out before the end of the month, then those cached optimized images will be deleted and new cached version will not be stored. So then the adaptive images plugin could be optimizing the same image over and over for each visitor until your resources reset next month. Going back to your 6 stores example, if you use Image Optimizer, two codes should be fine because you'll be optimizing your images one time. If you use just Adaptive Images then you'll need to re-optimize all the images every month or when your CDN bandwidth runs out, whichever comes first. If you have a lot of traffic, you could potentially be spending A LOT of credits every month if you have only Adaptive Images installed. I don't know if you saw last year's SP deal on Appsumo, but it was only for Image Optimizer and it was 5,000 credits for one code. Now it's 12,000 credits for one code and a free CDN. I'm pretty sure the big bump in credits is because of the way Adaptive Images works. I think that's also something that the WhinySumos don't understand. The ones who are complaining that this is a better deal than last year's. Some of the Sumo's are so hard on people...smh.
Hello I saw on your channel you have also created a video for wp fastest cache earlier. Out of wp fastest cache and wp rocket which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Hi Sanchit, I recommend WP Rocket, it's the one I use wherever I can. But it doesn't have a free version. If you're on a tight budget and don't want to spend money on it, I recommend WP Fastest Cache. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Please help someone? I'm still getting error "Add Expired Headers" when I make GTMetrix test.. with 0% score even when I'm using WPRocket.. what should I do to fix this?? Thanks for your asnwers
Hi there, I am kind of desperate here! I bought the license and followed your instructions using WP rocket. My website and a clients website are built using Elementor free version. Now I have both sites broken. I have cleared all the plugins, reinstalled WP, reinstalled my WP website+theme+database and etc... and yet, the website is still broken. On top of that Elementor is giving conflict and I can't edit anything. It always shows safe mode. Please help!
That's not a great situation. When you deactivate/delete WP Rocket it should bring everything back to normal. The fact that you restored to an older version of your site that presumably didn't have WP Rocket on it and things are still broken makes me think the issue is not WP Rocket related...or I misunderstood that statement. When troubleshooting something like this it's generally one of two things: either a setting in WP Rocket or a plugin conflict that's causing the problem. The way to find the problem is to turn off each setting in WP Rocket individually and retest the site to see if it's fixed. Make sure you're testing "incognito" so you don't see a cached version of the site. The approach for finding problems that are the problem is the same. Deactivate one plugin at a time and test the site "incognito". There should be a single plugin that once deactivated the site is back to normal.
@@wplearninglab You are AWESOME! Just by caring and responding, you are the real deal! Thanks for the help! Hi Aviel, I recommend you only use one optimization plugin at a time. SG Optimizer had come a long way since I recorded this tutorial. WP Rocket still has a leg up in terms of features, but if SG keeps expanding their optimizer that may not be true for long.
Great tutorial! Very helpful! Would you consider making one which could focus on the same subject but with learndash, woocommerce, elementor plugins for the membership site? How to handle that kind of configurations? Thank you!
Hi Juan, I don't use it. I tried it a bit when I first moved to Siteground, but I found better results with WP Rocket, so I stick to it. I like Siteground's server-side caching though.
Hi thanks for the tutorial. I have a query. After i testing my site on GTmetrix, the only thing which is orange is 'Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding header' D 64. Can you please help me on, how can i improve on this. Thanks.
Great video thank you! Now you said often times images are larger on the backend than when they are displayed on the site, so is there a way I can know exactly what is the size of the image in a display window, like some browser extension so then I can match it exactly? Thanks in advance!
Guys in order to retest the GTMetrix in other tab you just middle click on the "Retest" button and it automatically will open a new tab and re-test it. I always see everyone opens a new tab and it's hassle.
Hi Petia, I'm not using a theme. Just the default Chrome setup on my Mac. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
@@vx-petia I think you are asking about Momentum. It customises your new tab and you can get inspo messages and add to-do lists on it (you've probably figured this out by now tho)
@@sparetimr3472 No, I had given up! I still thought about this every week or so. I will try Momentum. My old boss used to have an extension where he could organize all of his bookmarks/folders on the new tab itself. Thank you so much!!
I did just now and it does pretty well. It was 85 on mobile and 98 on desktop when I ran the test. It would be even faster if I deferred the loading jQuery using WP Rocket settings, but that causes functionality problems on that site. Sometimes jQuery has to be loaded before the site loads to keep site functionality. If that's the case we have no choice but to take the page speed hit for having jQuery load first. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Not all sites speed up easily. I'm in the middle of recording a bunch of site speed tutorials for the TH-cam channel and for a course on my website. The videos go through every recommendation in GTMetrix and how to fix it if you're site doesn't score well on the recommendation. WP Rocket is not able to address every site speed issue, but I have it on all my important sites.
Great info, would you have a "best setting" for WProcket to go with Elementor? Since I have used WProcket, some of the animation does work on Edge but not on all the other browser.
Hi Christian, I haven't played around with "best settings" for different situations. I usually resort to Trial and Error when there's a problem. In other words, I turn off WP Rocket functions and see if the problem is resolved. Animations are often JavaScript-based. So I would try turning of combining JS and minimizing JS first. And also make sure you have the "jQuery safe" option enabled. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
@@wplearninglab Please help someone? I'm still getting error "Add Expired Headers" when I make GTMetrix test.. with 0% score even when I'm using WPRocket.. what should I do to fix this?? Thanks for your asnwers
Hi Christian, If you scan the same site a lot in a short time period GTMetrix sometimes keeps rescanning the same cached page, which is annoying. If you wait a few hours GTMetrix would scan an updated page. If browser caching is turned on in the plugin, then it should start working shortly. The request size can only be minimized to a point. If the page you are scanning is very large then you may not be able to minimize it to a point that is below what GTMetrix likes to see. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Nice Tut and cool tool. I use Beaver Builder and Contact Form 7. I believe CF7 causes websites to perform slow coz it is called even on pages without CF7, Will this tool work for reducing CF7 overheads and will it work with BB?
I haven't tested it with BB, just Elementor and Divi and it works with both of those. I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work with BB though. All page builders are basically the same in terms of how they tie into WordPress. I'm willing to be there's a functions.php script you can find online that will remove CF7 from any pages that the form isn't on. I'm going to look into it, that could be a useful a tutorial for the channel. The only reason CF7 would make pages slow is if it's loading JavaScript synchronously at the beginning of the page load. So everything has to wait for the CF7 JS to load. Using the "defer JS" option in WP Rocket should solve that problem. If you analyze your site with GTMetrix, does it show what components of CF7 are causing the slow load times?
@@wplearninglab Hi Bjorn, I dont have WP Rocket obviously but i did run the GT Metrix. I thought it was going to be much worse than the 3.1 seconds i got. It does appear that JS is the problem and it also looks like my mailerlite is causing some issues. Thanks
I'm working on a speed up WordPress tutorial series for TH-cam and as a course on my site right now. Some of the tutorials that will go on TH-cam included how to defer Javascript with and without a plugin. So if the JS is the only problem, I'll hopefully have a solution for your soon! The plugin version of the that tutorial will likely feature WP Rocket. The non-plugin version will have code that will need to put into your functions.php file.
So this greatly increased my scores and my desktop version of my site runs very fast now. However, the mobile site seems broken. Does this mean I need to run my backup or is there just a setting I need to change?
Figured it out, I can compress everything but l JavaScript. I have 37 External scripts that are http/2. Is there anyway to fix this? When I compress them it breaks the mobile site
That's fairly common. It's the main reason you should activate the compression and then see if the site is okay. From my experience there's no good away around this and you'll just have to keep the JS uncompressed. The problem is problem caused by just one or two of the JS scripts. If you wanted to spend the time trouble shooting, you could individually turn off the plugins that are adding in the JS, test compression each time. My feeling is you'll find the plugin who's JS is causing the problem. Then you may be able to find a replacement that does causing the same issue, remove the plugin all together and go without it's functionality, or just keep things uncompressed. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

Hi Jay, if you mean the Google AMP plugin for WordPress, I have a tutorial for that one right here: th-cam.com/video/-U7-vpcr1fY/w-d-xo.html AMP is great, but it's only meant for mobile. I hope that helps :) Thanks for watching!
@@wplearninglab I was told also to use amp but I feel like that its for people with blog / news-type websites. Because if you have a beautifully designed site it will strip your theme's design to load fast on mobile.
Hi Hero, AMP will strip out a lot of things, but most of what is stripped out is JavaScript and embedded scripts. JavaScript is responsible for the behaviors on your site, so in most cases removing it won't affect design. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! this works perfectly for us. We create all our sites on Elementor and we started using WP Rocket for optimization. Can you do another video with the new version of WP Rocket? There are different settings in the updated version.
This is a single license cannot be shared, some of the hosting companies will provide coupons to purchase wp rocket, so utilize that and enjoy the real speed.
Hi Ahmad, I only have a single site license, but even if I had a unlimited license, I can't give it away. That would be against WP Rocket's Terms of Service. Besides, the reason companies are motivated to build and maintain awesome plugins, like WP Rocket, is because there is a financial incentive. There are a lot of great plugins in the WP Repository that are free and have been abandoned. I believe in most cases, they've been abandoned because the developer needs to make money to eat and "free" is only fun for so long.
Great vedio. Can you make a tutorial how to integrate Google firebase with a WordPress site. I want to use Google firebase authentication service on my WordPress site
There are people who don't like installing multiple plugins into their website, but the problem is stil the price, in my case i used wp fastest cache with autoptimize
I wondered whether there was anything along these lines that was free? I doubt it myself but thought I would ask. I have been working on my own site's speed as well as trying to use WP Hide too on my OceanWP/Elementor Pro. I used an OceanWP template (freelance.oceanwp.org/) for the site but can let you now my own domain privately if of interest.
Unfortunately, it is the next video on this topic that doesn't care about mobile. You focus on the desktop speed test only, which isn't that useful nowadays. I would like to see someone speed up the website built with a page builder to 2-3 seconds on mobile.

@@wplearninglab I tried that just now and it doesn't work. I'm using 5.8.1 version.
Hey Peter,
I found this passage on the 5.8 WebP release page that may shed some light:
“WebP support in the media library requires that your web server’s image processing library (WordPress supports both Imagick and LibGD) supports the WebP format. Fortunately these libraries have supported WebP for quite a while so support is widely available. If your web server does not support WebP, you will see an error message when you try to upload a WebP image.”

Yes, great tutorial. If you don't mind sharing, what tool did you use to create this video? (Your face in top right corner while you share screen)
Can we use wp rocket and cloud flare on same time?
I a site and I have used everything from assets cleanup to autoptimize plugin but my site is still not where I want it to be. Yes, I am using a page builder WPBakery. My remaining issues are only using above the fold css and eliminating render-blocking resources. I also am using a plugin to combine css and js. But combing css causes layout issues. Also using GTMetrix and I have google analytics and facebook pixel urls in my headers and they are causing low scores on minimize redirects and leverage browser caching. Please let me know what I can do. Thank you.
Hey Hero,
You can solve most of those things with using scripts you find online, probably on Stackoverflow.
Still my website takes 4-6s to fully charge. WP Rocket and Cloudflare on Hostgator hosting , nothing change what to do please?
Can you make a video for WPRocket combined with SGoptimizer?
Hi Dylan, sorry for the delay. I don't use WP Rocket and SGO together on a hunch that it wouldn't make a difference. But I'll make a video doing some speed tests to see if using both has any benefit.
Thanks for the suggestion!
What do you think better wp fastest #vs wp rocket
Wp Rocket is great. Thank you!
You’re welcome Robert, thanks for watching!
can you do something with wprocket CDN
Why didnt you use SG optimiser?
Do the settings of WP Rocket apply to subdomains as well or no?
The settings apply to whichever WordPress install WP Rocket is installed on. If you have WP installed on your main domain and it has WP Rocket installed, then WP Rocket will optimize that site. If you have WP installed in sub domains of the main domain that has WP Rocket installed, then WP Rocket will not apply to the sub domains.
If you’re creating your sub domains using the WP Multisite functionality, then it’s a different story. Check out this documentation page for more info on that: docs.wp-rocket.me/article/874-how-to-use-wp-rocket-in-a-multisite-environment
I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Just wonder how you integrate the annual cost of something like WPRocket into a client's fee? Do you incorporate into hosting costs, bill specifically...? Thanks.
Hi Andy,
I bundle it into a package.
Great video man!
Do you need that if your host already have a cacher and especially if you're using something like ShortPixel on top of that?
WP Rocket does much more than caching. I host on Siteground right now and I use their server-side caching. I use WP Rocket for it's browser-side caching, minification and deferred loading options. I use ShortPixel for image optimization and adaptive images, which are made even better with WP Rocket's lazy load options for images.
Long story short, I use all of those things plus a CDN through ShortPixel.
You should check out AppSumo right now. ShortPixel is on there with a great life-time deal ;)
I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
@@wplearninglab Do you use both SP Optimizer and Adaptive Images plugins? I heard they don't recommend to use both at the same time.
Hello

Hey, thanks for this wonderful tutorial!
Do you recommend to use the SG optimizer plugin in addition to this one, or will this one get the job done ?
Hi Aviel,
I recommend you only use one optimization plugin at a time.
Thank you!

Did you try in google pagespeed?
I did just now and it does pretty well. It was 85 on mobile and 98 on desktop when I ran the test.
It would be even faster if I deferred the loading jQuery using WP Rocket settings, but that causes functionality problems on that site. Sometimes jQuery has to be loaded before the site loads to keep site functionality. If that's the case we have no choice but to take the page speed hit for having jQuery load first.

Hi Christian,
I haven't played around with "best settings" for different situations.

Hey , I feel like I followed along, but my leverage browser caching and minimize request size is still an F. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hi Christian,
If you scan the same site a lot in a short time period GTMetrix sometimes keeps rescanning the same cached page, which is annoying.

Hi Jay, if you mean the Google AMP plugin for WordPress, I have a tutorial for that one right here: th-cam.com/video/-U7-vpcr1fY/w-d-xo.html
AMP is great, but it's only meant for mobile.

@@wplearninglab I was told also to use amp but I feel like that its for people with blog / news-type websites. Because if you have a beautifully designed site it will strip your theme's design to load fast on mobile.

AMP will strip out a lot of things, but most of what is stripped out is JavaScript and embedded scripts. JavaScript is responsible for the behaviors on your site, so in most cases removing it won't affect design.

Can you share your plugin for free?? 🙏
This is a single license cannot be shared, some of the hosting companies will provide coupons to purchase wp rocket, so utilize that and enjoy the real speed.
Hi Ahmad,
I only have a single site license, but even if I had a unlimited license, I can't give it away.
Be sure to test all your plugins, ecom especially, not just the home page as things can and will break if you're not careful.
