Ultimately a complicated fix for the inexperienced average user (without tools, etc.); but wow this is a really well produced video and fun to watch either way. The music and sound effects editing were brilliant and hilarious. Bravo!!
Best Video on the internet! Clearly, Easily to understand, no annoying intro or any text. Pausing video for us! to remember the cover position. Oh My God!! Perfect!
I came here thinking it was like a straight forward watch battery change... this thing turned out to be a macgyver style battery change! BUT all respect goes out to you for making this video :)
Thanks for this. I got some at a Repair Cafe where the owner had brought a new battery. The hard part was (literally!) cracking them open and after that all fairly easy. I didn't check voltage of new battery and the Beats refused to start charging the cells, so I use a bench supply on low current to get them going, after which it all sprang into life.
3:08 what was used to put on the wires to make them stay? It seems the same step is made at 2:07 to remove the wires as well. Great Vid! Just confused on those steps. Also any recommendations on solder kits?
Holy smokes Joe, that's solder from a soldering iron! If this is your first time soldering I strongly recommend you practice a bunch before proceeding with this repair or you could burn some important stuff. Solder is basically a "low temperature" metal alloy which quickly solidifies into a solid weld. You can reflow it with the soldering iron, which usually heats up to the 200-350c range. In the video I'm working on wires which are ~1mm in diameter.
Hi Valeria, that's called a soldering iron and this process is often referred to as micro-soldering. If you have never soldered before then you may find micro-soldering extremely challenging. In that case, I wouldn't recommend trying this as your first project!
Great video. Thanks. What is the part number of the battery? I need to see if I can source it here in South Africa as shipping from the US is way too expensive.
I can't find the part number (I don't have a battery handy to reference) but here's an example battery replacement from Aliexpress: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001144297393.html
I'm not familiar with a pink light. I used to be able to find an article from Beats which showed the meaning of the lights but I cannot find it now to confirm what pink might mean. Sorry I can't help with this!
A glitch has happened with your Beats X where it signals that you have battery and fires off a white light but, it is accordingly going red since it doesn’t have enough power to charge on and continue to play music. Which breaks the light into showing both red and white lights at the same time. I don’t know if this is true but just my assumption
my beats x died as well I lit. never used them... but where did you get the battery? thank you for the vid, well done :) I will def try it asap! :) greetings
Hi Stephen, recently been conned by a company that sold me what was apparently a refurbished pair off beats x at half the retail price( lesson learnt, if it's to good to be true then it usually is) Nevertheless I intend on fixing the broken beats they've sent me but do not know where to find the battery, have you got a link you could post please. Thanks
There are two main symptoms: 1. The battery doesn't hold a charge for long (e.g., 10 minutes) 2. The battery won't charge, no matter how long you keep it on the charger.
Clearly the best produced Beats X repair video on the internet! Thanks Stephen!

That's exactly the right approach - good job and congrats on keeping your beats alive a little longer :)
Thanks Stephen, great vid, they work like new now.
glad to read this comment, cause I am about to try it too!

Make sure you're flexing the correct point - there are three other places that look similar but are wrong.

Depends where you're located. Apple has released a new version for $49.99 so that may be a more convenient option.

Stephen Arsenault I have trouble locating a new battery, and all the ones on eBay, usually have the same fault and would be useless buying it

You gotta pump those thumb muscles up. Those are rookie thumbs in this racket
You need to drink less coffee!.."Misty", good choice of music.
Not recommended for beginners/immediate proficiency DIY. These are advance level DIY. Sent my beatsX to the bin immediately.
Shouldn’t have to do this though. Clearly a shit design by beats
Хорошее видео все ок
This is way more tedious than I expected
Anyone interested in buy one used and try to replace? I can sell it a grey version
Thanks but too complicated. Going to the garbage
Sell it in eBay, make some money back :)
