    Looks like Swiss chard and raspberries that you have growing! The bricks might come in useful. Get some thick black plastic or tarps to cover the ground until you're ready to dig into and plant! My plot is in Bristol so not too many miles from you!

      Hello Helen, thanks for identifying the potentially existing plants, I appreciate that. That is really close by, there are some amazing allotment sites around Bristol, I see one from the train by Stapleton Road that's almost in a little valley and looks a green oasis!

    Great welcome video of your plot. Got a link from Erica's Little Welsh Garden. I have been planning & working on my allotment in Dundee. I also have a top floor flat and don't have outdoor space because the neighbour down stairs is responsible for the garden.

    Nice one fella. May be worth keeping some of those bricks to anchor down any tarpaulins you need to cover over and bits

    • @MyCarbonCoach
      @MyCarbonCoach  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Andrew! The bricks went unfortunately before I could keep any back, along with the old cabinets and the huge rubbish bag. I think I'm going to use my black bags to weigh sheets down with while I get my act together to make a compost bin!

    Congratulations on you new plot😁 I remember when I started 2 years ago. It was a single plot.... then I found myself really getting in to it.. Today I have a huge Double plot which I love so much. First thing I did was bug proof the shed as much as possible because I’m rubbish with spiders😉. Then made a brilliant compost bin with pallets. I think it’s good to watch from day one because we all started from day one😊

    Hi Tim, so glad you`ve been able to get a plot!The shed is a real bonus too. Im up in North Wales and have moved into a new house with a bit of land ,so im trying to get everything sorted for this years growing season!I grew a few spuds and courgettes last year but really missed the season due to delays in moving in!I just wanted to let you know of a couple of people i follow on here as they have been a great help to watch and learn from their videos!Tony C Smith, UK here we grow ,Liz Zorab & Huw Richards.If you get time, take a peek at their sites and see what you think.
    But back to your plot! Try and get some old pallets to make a compost bin out of as you will need somewhere to put all those weeds.Also set up some kind of rain water harvesting off your shed roof!Rain water is best for veg!And finally tea making facilities!Good luck and look forward to seeing your progress. Regards Shaun from Happydaysveg.

      Hello Shaun, thanks so much for watching and the awesome suggestions of other TH-camrs to watch, I'll subscribe to them now!
      I wasn't sure if I could compost the weeds I pull, but if I can then that's absolutely fantastic news, will save an awful lot of refuse sacks and trips to the tip! A little gas stove would be a great idea in the shed too once I get it all sorted. There's some old guttering on it currently but it looks like it needs quite a lot of repairs!

      I had about an 18 month wait. I am lucky and have a garden with a little veggie that I’ve been practicing in. I’ve been told the one I’ve been offered has some fruit trees but know nothing else. FYI the light green and white plant that’s doing ok looks like chard.

    • @MyCarbonCoach

      That's quite a while, but glad that you've had the space to still grow at home. And that is so exciting about the fruit trees, roll on Saturday!

    See if you can find some pallets from local businesses - then you can use the boards to make some raised beds on the cheap. I'm not sure whether you're planning on going "no-dig", but when I took on my plot I lined the bottom of the raised beds with a couple of layers of card and then filled in with compost. Didn't dig the soil at all. Basically had no weeds to deal with over the season.
    You could also then use the left over pallet boards to both clad the inside of the shed. :)

    • @MyCarbonCoach
      @MyCarbonCoach  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are amazing ideas thanks Barney, I hadn't thought about using pallet timber for inside the shed! That's a great thought about lining the raised beds too, I've heard a little of no-dig but hadn't really researched yet!

    When picking flowers for bees, I try to pick flowers with seed heads that don't blow around easy. They can blow onto other plots and you will go crazy with the extra weeding.😰

      @MyCarbonCoach  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really good point! I'll have to monitor what's spouting up in the surrounding area and plots! I'm hoping that because I'm on a corner they'll be far enough away from anyone else, we'll see 🤔

    This takes me back to three years ago when we took on our plot! I would say the boxes in your shed look rodent damaged, I would oersonally not leave any food (or food wrappers) in the shed. I got mice that way and they also ate my stored tulip bulbs :D I think I spotted some strawberries, you can dig them up and transplant wherever you want them and they will send out runners and you will get a lot of new free plants that way. Good luck! (I don’t do videos but am on insta as sillylittlesheep, if you want to chat)

    • @MyCarbonCoach
      @MyCarbonCoach  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Veronika! Thanks for the strawberry spot, I'll see what I can dig up and rescue as I get to it! I haven't noticed any little visitors since clearing it all out thankfully, and I'm thinking the main consumables I'll be keeping in there are gin and some beers! I just spotted you on insta so will say hi there too! Take care 🙂
