yeah after so many attempt from sony with the venom-verse and disney with their live actions spinn offs like maleficent or cruella, even a "good" one like joker that even then it still falls into the same problems from the other one like making the villain way too sympathetic or not give him a true reason to become a criminal mastermind other than "because he is sad", nobody could make a legit good villain centric story that isn't at the same level as breaking bad or scar face.
You mean DC clearly. Literally only good thing James Gunn has put out as head of DC is peacemaker the Batman and now this.

This show is at the #1 spot on my hype list. The fact alone that we get more of Colin Farrell as Oz is an absolute gift.
I'm glad the episodes will be released on a weekly basis rather than all at once. I think releasing seasons all in one day has ruined the experience personally. Miss the old days when you could soak an episode in for a whole week and be hyped for what happens next.

Honestly the only series that I was hyped for this year. The Batman was easily my favorite film of 2022, and it’s one of my top 3 Batman films of all-time. This is going to be a gem!

Colin is an underrated actor. He is awesome as The Penguin more grounded look to him. More believable.
This world that he’s building with these iconic characters is going to be so good. I’m so looking forward to future entries around the Batman
I wish we could've jumped straight to The Batman Part 2 and Part 3. At this point I'll be 35 by the time the trilogy is completed, I'm 23 now. I hope Matt Reeves knows what he's doing because Denis Villeneuve delivered us Dune Part 1 and 2 within a very effective time frame.
you can thank the writers and actor's strike for the delay. originally it was supposed to come out in October of 2025 but then got pushed back a year.
@@mattboesch8907 I didn’t look into those things as it doesn’t bother me as a viewer. I was 21 when I watched The Batman Part I, I’ll be 25 or 26 when Part II comes out. I’m sure Part II will also be followed by more TV series so that means Part III in somewhere around 2030/2031. That’s damn near 10 years to work on 3 movies.

@@donna25871 Avengers Infinity War and Endgame came out in 2018 and 2019, back to back. Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 came out in 2003 and 2004, back to back. It looks like Matt Reeves didn’t have a plan, wasting his time working on 3 separate “spin-off” TV series just for 2 of them to get cancelled because there’s no demand.

Love seeing the Penguin-like walk incorporated to the character... so great. This from the Batman car accident possibly? If they can manage to add a Penguin laugh of sorts, it would be so perfect. Just a little laugh at the end of a trailer would be such an excellent throw-back. Farrell is going to own this character.

Another reality-based gangster story, like we've seen thousands of. Where are the costumes, the fun, the gagdgets, the physical difformities (a midget with a huge nose), the humor... ?

@@laporteestouverte bro Penguin was literally always a gangster what are you on about. A huge part of the batman world is old school mafia types and gritty gangster stories. Especially in the earlier part of his career. Also, live action depictions of characters don't need to be a cartoon.
@@laporteestouverte The Penguin always was supposed to be a gangster. One of his first stories involved him gunning down a mob boss and taking over his business. I have been waiting for decades to get a mobster portrayel of Penguin so that we can get away from the image of the mutant freak in Batman Returns. This is, without argument, the most accurate live action portrayel of Penguin we've ever gotten.
Can't wait to see this series with a Colin Farrell who is at the top to play the Penguin !

What makes the Batman universe so interesting is all the very colourful and larger than life characters. The Penguin, a little deformed midget, with quirky Bond-like gadgets. And some humor. Like Burton had portrayed in Batman Returns. This show obviously has thrown all of that out of the window, and has just kept gangster wars. Meh. I'll pass

Do you miss Tim Burton's reimagining? I'm beyond excited for this. Most of the time, these series based on movies feels kinda lame but this one REALLY feels like a movie companion. And since I LOVED The Batman, this one seems totally awesome.

Colin Farrell has been strong in films like IN BRUGES, THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN and PHONE BOOTH, on TV in TRUE DETECTIVE, and, don't forget, he had a ball playing Bullseye in DAREDEVIL (the 2003 movie). I am so happy that his Penguin is getting a short-term series on HBO. His Oz Cobblepot is a badass classic gangster. He doesn't need the monocle or the umbrella. He simply IS.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

And people wonder how RDJ returning as Doom could work without a connection to Stark or as a variant. Just like this. Prosthetics (disfigured face), different voice, the mask to hide his face even further, like it’s not impossible. This looks amazing. Everyone was surprised when they found out this was Colin Ferrell. Me imagine if they never announced RDJ and he gave the most chilling, indifferent, terrifying, twisted performance as Doom. And then the credits roll and it says RDJ. No one would guess. I do wish Marvel would make more shoes like this quality. No hate to Marvel are ask cause I’m a big Marvel fan, but this tone just works so well for me abcs a lot of people
