My usual is curry chicken with rice and peas, so I'll for sure have to try it with goat.
First guy had it spot on! But I usually go a little further... Curry goat, rice and peas, with coleslaw and a fried dumpling. Plus a side of fried chicken and a grape soda. 🥰

It's always the person with the worst food who has to put down on everyone else's dish.
Anissa's order is the only one I wouldn't order. I don't like Ackee n Saltfish that much. I did like seeing the fried plantains and ginger beer though.

Grew up in the States and we didn't have it that often so not really my thing there. Everything else on the orders was around more often. :)@@Lando-kx6so
I would definitely be wary about boxed sorrel, homemade is the best. There wasn't enough representation across the board but love seeing Giselle back. Such a great attitude. My favorite takeout is also stew chicken or fried chicken. I've given up on oxtail because not enough people make it the way I like, but it's too pricey now anyway.

I love my people 🇯🇲, lord knows I do. But Anissa calling Jerk chicken Basic and ordering Ackee and Saltfish is hella Basic. Then saying she would normally have Curry Goat with White Rice. Gyal Hush and eat up!. 😂

I was expecting her to have strictly Trini food though....when I hear jerk its always jamaica....these were all jamaican dishes for the most part...cause we do mac and cheese pie in Jamaica as well...my mom and aunt used to make it.

Totally Agree!!! I'm from one of the islands they usually feature, but I agree! There are so many other islands I'd love to see represented. Grenada, Antigua, St Vincent, St Kitts, Barbados among others. So many precious Island cuisines. We're 1 Caribbean yet we prepare the same dishes very differently. A typical example is Callaloo.😂

As a Caribbean that’s not Jamaican I’d prefer the trini lady’s food in Barbados we have macaroni pie and it’s way better than average mac and cheese.Also me and my family don’t like ackee and saltfish😢

No, oxtail with rice and pea. Curry goat/curry anything with white rice or food(yaadie dem know).
But you can eat it(I’ve eaten it) but traditionally it’s with white rice.
i grew up in a Jamaican house hold been Jamaica a few times and always got it served with rice and peas and whenever with white rice i always find it odd so i was just confused @@CashIsHere

My husband took one of my ginger beers - in a bottle though- cause he thought it was a different brand of beer. I said ' come on man, what about root beer?" He'd never heard of it before.

When Anissa scored the first one that low, I knew the deal. She ended up in the right spot! I love all those dishes, but I never had jerk lamb. Hmmmm. I might have to try that. Ox tails will ALWAYS be my favorite though, I can't lie.
When I use to eat meat cow foot dinner was my go to....nice and soft, season well, scrumptious and delicious. When I use to eat seafood, curry chrimp roti or curry shrimp dinner. Ackee and saltfish or Liver with batata (white sweet potato) boil dumplings and sweet boiled plaintain for breakfast. I loved the CheeZ Beef and veggie patty too. Love some of the sweets especially plantain tart, black cake, spice bun, carrot cake, cassava (yuca/yucca) pudding. Homemade/Homestyle carrot drink, pineapple ginger drink, homemade/homestyle sorrel or Jamaican ginger beer!!! 😋

I see a lot of people in the comments confused about Anissa’s comments regarding the rice and peas.
Traditionally in Jamaica white rice is served with Curry Goat, this isn’t a rule but typically how it is served. Another example of a dish typically served with white rice is Stew Peas.
Would I personally order Curry goat with rice and peas? No, as that is not a combination my taste buds are used to? but if I was given it by someone, would I still box it down? Yes, yes I would.

Me: 🤦🏾♀️We British sounding be’s so ungrateful for the skill used to cook these dishes to perfection. Especially Jamaicans; they’re seriously overlooked & slept on for having immaculate & highly detailed cooking skills.
They blend strong flavours to perfection. Brown stew chicken is not easy to make. Perfect Jamaican dumplings are not easy to make. Rice & peas is also not easy to make. And I’m not a bad cook myself; but when I’m cooking these dishes & they fail to come out perfect as I’m used to buying or eating at my Mums; it’s then I have to give respect due & humble myself & enjoy this beauty & gift from God Ijn (to help warm their heart’s & distract from our slave trade past blues) in the form of food & realise I was ungrateful in my past.
Jamaican food beats ‘pie & mash’, beats ‘meat & just potatoes’, beats MANY SIMPLE DISHES.

An ideal caribbean meal will have meat or fish (tofu maybe if you are ital / vegan), vegetables, rice and peas with a couple fried items like platains or dumplins etc... All of them looked good tbh.
