This video resonated deeply with me, especially the strategy of asking someone to repeat a belittling comment. It’s such a simple yet profound way to regain control and encourage thoughtful dialogue. I can see myself using this approach in workplace conflicts to maintain my composure and foster mutual respect.

Silence, or "a time out" is often the best solution in a heated discussion.

21:41 omg was that my comment you refer to? I commented on another video how your lessons and teachings of stoicism helped me to deal with a difficult colleague. That’s amazing if it is and I really appreciate that.

(11:02): The method of inquiring about intent is not just intellectually stimulating, but emotionally intelligent as well. It encourages open dialogue and understanding without confrontation. This strategy is a great way to foster meaningful conversations and maintain respect in all interactions, which is at the heart of Stoic communication.

Shift Your Perspective: Belittling comments only hold power if you allow them to. Recognize such remarks as reflections of the speaker’s insecurities or mindset, not your worth.

Another thing to say to them is "You might be right." Your false humility validates their petty behavior and they become angry that they can't make you angry. It confuses them. 🤷

While Stoicism teaches us to stay calm and composed when someone belittles us, I think there’s a fine line between patience and allowing disrespect to go unchecked. Sometimes, addressing the behavior directly with confidence-not aggression-can be equally powerful. Silence and emotional control are admirable, but standing up for yourself can also command respect. It’s all about balance and context!
    What do you think?
