I don't read about books much, I just read books. This is the first time I realised there was retrospective cleaning of old school romances in new publications of it. I guess that makes sense. As a person who likes both types I'll have to look more closely for originals.
I’m 52 and started reading historical romances when I was 12. I started on Johanna Lindsey, Dorothy Garlock, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Judith McNaught and Jude Devereaux. I read everyday and romance is my favourite genre. I just started reading Tessa Dare, someone I’ve never read but have heard good things about. 🌸💕🌺
Kathleen Woodiwiss is in my opinion the best old school romance author....Shanna, A Rose in Winter, The Wolf and The Dove. Treat yourself if you haven't already.
The way you got so excited about Whitney, my love🥺😂 love it!!!! omg Lacey could you pleaaaase do a video with your favourite grovelling romances in Historical Romance?! I'm a sucker for those and you always have the best recs!!
"Not a lot happens" is a great way to describe most of the Rokesby series actually, but I kind of love the softer moments and just the focus on the sweet relationships. Haven't read the newest one yet, but I need to get on that! And yes, the cover is absolutely tragic.
Judith McNaught were the romance books I read when I was younger. I actually didn't know she changed and added to Whitney, My Love! I should check it out. My favorite of hers are Once and Always, Something Wonderful, Almost Heaven and Until You. I will say she does end her books abruptly, she should add more to all her books!
Honestly, I don't care how many steamy scenes there are in a novel. just one or two is okay as long as I have a good/fun plot with good character dynamics between the main couple. that's why I loved Suddenly You by Lisa Klyepas and Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn.
I would like to see a tropes overview video where you give a description of common tropes. I know you have more in-depth videos on your channel but a general overview would be very interesting to me.
Have you read any Susan Johnson? I'm interested in checking out Seized by Love (it was released in the 70s), apparently it goes insane and a little taboo.
I love Judith McNaught books. She was my first foray into historical romances. You should read Something Wonderful, it has another alpha duke and Until You. Until You is about Clayton's brother Stephen. I also love her contemporary books like Every Breath You Take, Paradise and Perfect.
I didn't read the first Greycourt book, but When A Rogue Meets His Match (#2) was really enjoyable. I wasn't sure about the beginning, but I did end up really liking it.
Julie Garwood is amazing! Prince Charming, Secret and the Rose series ... so good! You're also missing some Amanda Quick pen name for Jayne Ann Krentz: Deception is excellent, Mistress is another great read. Everything these two authors write is amazing.
I'd say nora roberts Her writing style has changed over the years Her newer ones have more swearing, which spices up the stories Her older books don't have swearing, or the characters swear very little, but they're still amazing books! Her books are great!
Hey there! I love your videos 🥰 do you have any historical romance recommendations where the protagonist has some sort of profession or career? Like the protagonist of The Secret, being a midwife and all that
Ive always been into dark romance books, but I want branch out! I’m just starting to get into historical romances but just don’t know where to start or who I should read first? There are so many lol and just not sure who to check out first! Would love to see a video on a intro to historical romance recommendations please 💜
I recommend Cathy Maxwell, Lorraine Health I love all their books from Maxwell, seduction at Christmas, when dreams come true you and no other, Lorraine the series the rogues of Saint James a delight, the Earl takes all, Sophie Barnes a most unlikely Duke, Anne Gracie marry in scandal, Mary Balog, the temporary wife , Meredith Duran Fool me twice. I love them give a try, nothing to loose and a lot to gain.🥰😍
I loved A Kingdom of Dreams, and Whitney, My Love is next on my list. I have so many different versions of Whitney except for the new one...so I'll go get that too now. 😂😂

Hey Lacey! I have been loving your videos for so long. I have a recommendation for you, please read ANNIE’S SONG BY CATHERINE ANDERSON. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!
Oh I loved that book. I remember I was given a copy by a close friend when it first came out. I have read it a couple of times since and still love it.
I really not into Mrs Holt I read series regarding a ghost 👻 who protect a neighbor but I read 2of her and the others no because she change with new characters that nothing to do with the subject.
Judith McNaught, Tanya Anne Crosby, Kathleen Woodweiss =OG Historical Romance Chef's 😘 I originally read most of their stuff as a teen. They still hold up. Personally, not a big fan of the whole "problematic nonsense". It's called fiction, people, as in NOT real. Not a fan of Elizabeth Hoyt. She tends to have a lot of spies in her books, and I'm just not into that trope.
I love you Lacey, and your soothing reviews of books is delightful. But I strongly disagree with 'Whitney, my love' inclusion as romance i shelve that book next to handmaid's tale and Stephen Kings the shining! Poor Whitney succumbing to Stockholm syndrome is one of the saddest ending! Did we read the same book?
LOVE this video idea!!! I've now read 3 Beverly Jenkins novels and I am OBSESSED! Can't wait to read some of her more "old school" ones!
Her old school ones have been fantastic so far!
I don't read about books much, I just read books. This is the first time I realised there was retrospective cleaning of old school romances in new publications of it. I guess that makes sense. As a person who likes both types I'll have to look more closely for originals.
I like your sweater, especially the design of the roses and the font they chose
I’m 52 and started reading historical romances when I was 12. I started on Johanna Lindsey, Dorothy Garlock, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Judith McNaught and Jude Devereaux. I read everyday and romance is my favourite genre. I just started reading Tessa Dare, someone I’ve never read but have heard good things about. 🌸💕🌺
Love the comparison between original vs. revised edition; those can definitely be a video series on their own!
Kathleen Woodiwiss is in my opinion the best old school romance author....Shanna, A Rose in Winter, The Wolf and The Dove. Treat yourself if you haven't already.
I own a bunch of her books! I just need to read one 😍
The way you got so excited about Whitney, my love🥺😂 love it!!!! omg Lacey could you pleaaaase do a video with your favourite grovelling romances in Historical Romance?! I'm a sucker for those and you always have the best recs!!

Yes Lisa Kleypas! Just got into Historical Romance and am obsessed with all her books.
She’s my queen of HR 😍
Judith McNaught were the romance books I read when I was younger. I actually didn't know she changed and added to Whitney, My Love! I should check it out. My favorite of hers are Once and Always, Something Wonderful, Almost Heaven and Until You. I will say she does end her books abruptly, she should add more to all her books!
Whitney, My Love is really good.
Something Wonderful has been recommended to me so many times so I think I’ll have to read that one next! I’m just so excited to read more JM 😍
OMG yes the berries! 🤣 I'd love you to do this with Kennedy Ryan.
😂😂🫐 Also yesss Kennedy Ryan! I need to remember this when her Hollywood series comes out
Honestly, I don't care how many steamy scenes there are in a novel. just one or two is okay as long as I have a good/fun plot with good character dynamics between the main couple. that's why I loved Suddenly You by Lisa Klyepas and Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn.
The chemistry in Suddenly You was PERFECTION
Suddenly You is my happy place! One cannot find a better hero than Devlin! He is my ultimate man!
@@teresabetancourt4734 true.
Love the concept of this video! I would love to see a Lisa Kleypas comparison, so it's good to know you're one the same page lol. ;)
I would like to see a tropes overview video where you give a description of common tropes. I know you have more in-depth videos on your channel but a general overview would be very interesting to me.
This is so cool!!! It’s nice to see how authors have changed and grew, also I’m really new to the genre, so thank you for the recommendations 😗👌

I haven’t but I’m intrigued by taboo 👀
I love Judith McNaught books. She was my first foray into historical romances. You should read Something Wonderful, it has another alpha duke and Until You. Until You is about Clayton's brother Stephen. I also love her contemporary books like Every Breath You Take, Paradise and Perfect.
The extra Whitney My Love chapters were all about Stephen so now I’m intrigued! I heard there’s amnesia too? 👀 I love that trope!
@@LaceyBooklovers Yes, the herione has memory loss. And she is American too.
Can you do “my fav hrs of all time”?
Little Anthony, Benedict and Collin were such a joy in first comes scandal. I love Collin always being hungry.

Read Grace Burrowes - especially the Windham Family series
I loved Whitney my love.
Julie Garwood is amazing! Prince Charming, Secret and the Rose series ... so good! You're also missing some Amanda Quick pen name for Jayne Ann Krentz: Deception is excellent, Mistress is another great read. Everything these two authors write is amazing.
I'd say nora roberts
Her writing style has changed over the years
Her newer ones have more swearing, which spices up the stories
Her older books don't have swearing, or the characters swear very little, but they're still amazing books!
Her books are great!
Oooh she’d be a good one! Thank you!
@@LaceyBooklovers you're so welcome! Have a great valentine's day!
Thanks for the reviews.in Whitney my love is there any beating involved?
No beating.
@@alrami0421 thanks for the answer 😃
I love the cover of Splendid.
Your dog is adorable!💕
Hey there! I love your videos 🥰 do you have any historical romance recommendations where the protagonist has some sort of profession or career? Like the protagonist of The Secret, being a midwife and all that
In My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh, the heroine is a blue stocking naturalist. It is a fun read with the transformation of a shy scientist into a rake.
Have you read Kathleen E Woodiwiss?
I haven’t but I own a bunch of her books!
Judith McNaught excellent books, Victoria Holt 👏, love A Knight In Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux

I would start with Loretta Chase Lord of Scoundrels. This book is perfection. It would give you the very best of historial romance.
Thank you both! I’ll check them out!!
I totally agree with the Lord of Scoundrels rec 😍 Lisa Kleypas would also be perfect. I love your video idea though, thank you!
Start with Lisa Kleypas and you will be hooked forever!!❤️
