  • It's been a very wet summer so far but still, a lot of my succulents grown in small pots are in need of watering. When is the right time to water them and which ones shouldn't.

    You have an incredible collection 😊 and Australian weather sounds very similar to South African weather which helps me a lot. Thank you for sharing - it was so relaxing for me to watch you watering your plants - next on my bucket list is to make your tropical soil mix. Thanks for a great channel and all the best for 2022

    Mosquitos have been a problem in my area during the summer months. West Nile virus struck 3 of my closest neighbors. Thankfully it didn’t affect them too badly. What is that mosquito coil? I’ve never seen that before! The only thing I’ve been able to successfully deter mosquitoes (and gnats as a lovely side effect) is mosquito bits. I put mosquito bits all over ever part of the ground that gets any kind of moisture and I put mosquito bits in every pot I have. It really has been the only thing successfully curbing the mosquito population and I have no gnats in my house as well. It’s natural and safe for humans and animals, specifically ok for birds and doesn’t have any harmful effects.

      Bright light but not direct sun. Some will lose their variegation if exposed to direct sun. 50% UV shade cloth is also good.

    At 13:50 in the upper left portion of the screen there is a terracotta pot with a thick leaf plant the leaves are green longer with a flat side and a point at the end. What is that please?? The whole plant isn't visable

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheiridopsis candidissima AKA 'Bunnies Ears' because the leaves grows in pairs. Very easy to grow from autumn through spring and summer dormant.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one next to the bunnies ears is also Cheiridopsis pillansii. A shorter version of the bunnies ears.

    Hmmm… no haluhalo in the summertime? LOL my mom was from the Philippines. 💖 But I’m not familiar with your silken tofu treat. Looks amazing! How is your Echeveria Strictiflora v. nova? My first one was attacked by mealybugs, seems to be recovering, and the other one is spotting up and not happy, and I am left scratching my head. 🙃

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course Halu-halo all year round even in winter. Strictiflora is doing well outside and the one inside(challenge) , I'm waiting to harvest the seed.

    I was watered my succulents in the night, but after that they get hit by sun 38°c 😔
    Some of them going mussy

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always check the temperature for the next day before watering a day before. It has to be below 25°C in open areas or below 30°C in undercover or shade cloth area.

    One minute into watching this video and your tahao remind me of Spanish FLAN!! It’s a custard and I could imagine that the silken tofu has that same texture. OK anyway it’s 4 AM back to the video🤣

      We have a custard like dessert called 'Leche Flan.' We only make it when there's a special occasion or if we have parties. In my household, we have parties every month.😅🤣
      No wonder I'm getting fat.
